The Blog Vol.2 #12

Good afternoon,

Nico Minoru painted:

Domino unpainted sculpt:

This weeks costume forum poll result:
Which outfit for Trapster ?

7% [ 12 ] first costume design - Paste Pot Pete

8% [ 13 ] modified 1st costume design

60% [ 103 ] redesign - masters of evil

8% [ 14 ] ninja

9% [ 16 ] current outfit

I don't mind, any of them ! 9% [ 15 ]

“One of the things a lot of people stated when they picked option #3 was that they would want him with his glue gun and it was also mentioned as one of the reasons a few people defered from that option and chose another that had him weilding the gun. A few members even found instances in comics where he used the gun with that costume design.”

I’m totally satisfied with this result, I think it’s his best look (I’ll even agree that he can have the glue gun in that cossie too).

SPECIALS UPDATE:

Odin Special on sale 22nd September 2011. Priced £15.99 (subject to change of course).

ALSO:
Good news, the production problems have been sorted on the Northstar/Aurora (the clear pegs were not fixing into the feet securely enough). So I would hope they will be our next special – Will have to wait for the go ahead from Top Floor EM Towers. But things are looking positive.

The next 2 characters to be confirmed will be:

Captain Off-Cuts

and ‘Limbs’ Lieberman

That’s a clue on the upcoming competiton!? ;) (Thanks to Ted Sallis for the idea - and see the end of previous comments for LAWAY's pre-emptive attempt.

Amalgam characters will never happen. And Lobo is a terrible joke of a character anyway.

I subscribe the only way I can through my comic book store BSI Comics. Every month a Previews catalog comes out with new items to buy including from EM. This month I ordered BLACKHEART, THE PUPPET MASTER & ODIN. Sometimes I buy two like Blackheart even though I am not familiar with him but he looks great & of course ODIN looks awesome. I enjoy the Blog & I vote on the forum. I try & participate because I really want this collection to continue so villains I like can still make it in. Like I said the five I voted for reflect my love of villains :
ATTUMA
BARON MORDO
COBRA
MR. HYDE
WHIRLWIND
This list should surprise no one who reads any of my comments & yes there are many, many more villain I love who are left out.

Lobo is the one character I would buy from DC collection.

,,I think that EM could do just 2 or 3 variants per year in a subset. That wont be too hard to do."
Yeah but they made just different colors for those variant in past, and we want different look not only colors, so that wouldn't be so easy.

LAWay said...

Becquerel - i apologize, didnt realize you were a european buyer and it sounds like your situation sucks unable to be up to date. But I appreciate your politeness and commitment to the collection.

Again, I didn't phrase the term 'cherry pickers', that was Deadpool and I was quick to say his behaviour and language was out of line.

Personally I just wanted to suggest ideas that would make as many people happy and feel special as possible. Of course you aren't going to pleas everyone. but for the UK, I just thought thinking up incentives to get more subscribers was a logically approach for a company as it would increase its shelf life.

LAWay said...

Reading some of you guy's 5 character votes on the forum, it just reminds me how difficult it was to narrow down to just 5.

And then you read someone else's choices and think 'god yeh, that would be great!'.

I think there are still plenty of strong names that are classic characters that are still kicking butt in comics today. Will be interesting to see what the results will be. Personally I hope in-voting doesn't sway the decision. I know people are looking out for each other and are doing it out of interest for their friends, but it would be nice to see how everyone thought honestly as individuals.

CBR Beast - "Amalgam characters will never happen. And Lobo is a terrible joke of a character anyway." - 15th August 2011

CBR Beast - "Lame. Howard the Duck fits in the collection just as well as any of the other Marvel characters. When you have dragons in purple underpants and Purple Planet-Eating Space Popes, nothing is too absurd." - 22nd July 2011

Shame on you lol Let the boy like what he likes. I always thought Lobo was a great character. He didnt really feel 'dc' to me in terms of fitting in with the universe of DC. My first comic of his I got when I was 8 in Butlins and thought it was one of the funniest and coolest comics I read (aided much by the artwork).

However, I have to say, I don't think he fitted with the DC universe. I can enjoy the character and admit that. While I havent read read much of Howard the Duck, especially his earlier days, thats how I would see him too.

The point was that Lobo was created as a parody of Marvel's attitude and characters during that period. He's welcome to like him all he wants. But sometimes I think DC has forgotten where the character came from.

And the point still stands, Amalgam figurines will NEVER happen.

LAWay said...

haha good to see MT also resorting to childish, offensive name calling.

Hey, you may not like some ideas I say (because you guys always seem to focus on the negatives - ie that dont suit you) but at least I never come out with some of the offensive filth that has been battered around recently.

LAWay said...

Yeh CBR Beast I agree with you there. Amalgam will never happen, would be cool (and EM do own both marvel and dc licenses) but I imagine impossible.

And again I agree, like I said, I dont think Lobo fits with the DC universe, but he probably sells comics and thus they included him. I dunno.

Take a peak at Kirly's virtual CMFC page which shows some nice possibilities. I am kind of in the same boat as you in that most all the characters I know have already been done or confirmed. Starhawk and Yondu from the classic GotG would make beautiful figurines ;)

With Northstar and Aurora looking likely as a doublepack have any thoughts been given to other doublepacks EM would consider making. Getting the N+A double done took a long time and from the sounds of it it was the marketing dept that were dragging their heels. Was that because they didn't want another double full stop or because the suggested double were both regular size and there may not have been a huge profit margin for them.

Basically what I am asking is what are the chances of future doubles after N+A? Are they dead in the water or can we look forward to more possible doubles like Rocket and Groot.......hint hint.

Mad Jim Jaspers and The Fury please Dan ;)

Maybe if it ran until 2020 :P

Dallen? Do you not know much about the Marvel Universe? Cause only 4 are X-Related. And outside of Domino, the others are villains. Which people are constantly complaining we don't have enough of.

Ant Man II - Avengers
Arachne - Avengers
Avalanche - X-Men
Domino - X-Men
Jack of Hearts - Avengers/Cosmic
Jocasta - Avengers
Moondragon - Avengers/Defenders/Cosmic
Spiral - X-Men
Toad - X-Men

tinodragon14 said...

I think the point is Beast of the 9 names you list 5 are females & only 3 are villains & all 3 are X villains. There are many villains who are not X related but somehow manage to still be great villains & will make great looking figures.

Grey Gargoyle, Arcade, Count Nefaria, Lorelei, Baron Mordo, Princess Python, Whirlwind, Master of the World, Machinesmith, Diablo, Terrax the Tamer, Constrictor, Mesmero, Skurge the Executioner, Wendigo, Morgan LeFay, Korvac, Mandrill, Mastermind, Diamondback, Psycho Man, Black Mamba, Barbarus, Scorpio, Nebulon, Blacklash, Cobra, Red Ghost & the Super Apes, Alkhema and so many more.

I'd really love to see some of the Elders of the Universe make it as Megas or at least Specials.. Grandmaster, the Collector, the Gardener, the In-Betweener, the Living Tribunal and so on. That would be sweet!

So many characters so little lead!

to CBR Beast as far as i can recall arachne first appeared as part of freedom force which makes her an x character.i don't hate the x-men but they are only a small part of the marvel universe and are completely over-represented in this collection and if it wasn't for older characters, the vast majority of which have not been done there would be no marvel universe.i also agree with dallen about the magazine,i scan mine then recycle it.i know a lot of work goes into it but with the same type of characters being done it is becoming very samey.my main problem with the females is that there are far too many compared to the villains which isn't right, female characters have never been that popular ,even dc's wonder woman has always had fairly poor sales throughout her whole history.marvel have never had a successful female mag ie ms.marvel,she-hulk,spider-woman all of which i collected.i just find the female costumes and poses too repetitve and some of the figurines have been absolutely dreadful, just look at storm, snowbird, emma frost, viper, songbird, kitty pryde,she-hulk,black widow, crystal, black cat,tigra,x-23.to JinxDealer i would suggest you check out starfox, red guardian, baron blood, unicorn, whiplash, tarantula, jack o lantern, vanguard, griffin, water wizard, spymaster, thundra, spirit of'76.

Arachne first appeared in SECRET WARS.

JinxDealer said...

@ LAWay. those display scenes look awesome on the site u mentioned i'd prefer those. big thanks to LAWay, THE TOON, dallen & lonchaney for all the suggestions & help regarding my comp choice.

max_0888 said...

lol at saying arachne is an x-character...wolverine first appeared in Hulk, and Sabretooth in Iron Fist. Does that makes them Avengers character? or marvel knight?

Arachne first appeared in Secret wars. Had some brief x-men appearances and then joined west coast avengers and force work. Definitely an avenger to me.

LAWay said...

Arachne, I just see her as a single character. If I had to throw her in something I guess it would be avengers, but really marvel swap characters in teams so much anyway I think its pretty pointless grouping characters in certain teams.

Also, just to link back to the blog update. Was suggested about the Frankenstein photoshop contest that Ted suggested and I made a mock-up.

Did anyone find my attempt too difficult or easy to guess? I think Dan said it was too hard and they would go for something simpler. Just wondered if it was too hard, or what you prefer it if the contest was hard? (I think if the contest was too hard for me, then I would definitely give more props to the winner and whoever got the answer right - and wouldnt feel hard done by losing out.)

mgf said...

@lonchaney I share your views on X characters and females, in both the CMFC and comics in general.

The advent of hugely more clenchingly tedious female characters has gone hand in hand with the steep decline in comic sales in the last three decades. Is there a direct correlation? Hard to say really.

YES! YES! YES! YES!

Perhaps.

Superhero comics were a predominantly male medium, and should have remained so in my opinion. All this touchy feely femininist claptrap has hastened the decline of comics as an art form.

Tell that to yer Citizenship Teaching Assistant.

When they get back from the riot.

Word verification is "didhereallyjustsaythat?"

mighty_marvel said...

@LAWay

i didn't think it was too hard. struggled a little on a couple but got them all in the end. but i know others found it harder than i did. there's got to be some challenge in the comp or you might as well just ask everyone to send an e-mail and someone is chosen at random.

Robert said...

I'm kind of with MGF on females in comics. Very few really interest me, although I will admit I had a crush on Gwen Stacy and secretly wept when she died. My work is overwhelmingly populated by women and if they mention Kate Middleton's wedding dress or how to get stains out of throws one more time I won't be responsible. Why can't they talk about real things like the Marvel Universe?

tinodragon14 said...

I think Marvel's response to feminism was to create female versions of male characters i.e. Spider-Woman, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel or taking existing female characters & making them more powerful then any of the men. Marvel Girl suddenly became Phoenix the most dangerous being in the universe & The Invisible Girl became the most powerful member of the team & The Scarlet Witch's power well she pulled a meteor from space in one battle. The thing is all this pandering to women did not make the comics better or attract more women to buy comic books. Of course those guys who draw or buy comics that put women with big bosoms in tight fitting costumes were in heaven while the tight fitting costumes on the male heroes showed they had no genitals. Creepy that all the male heroes were eunuchs.

Anonymous said...

I think you guys just have serious issues with women. Because Marvel has always had fantastic female characters. And were more progressive in that area as well as other kinds of diversity than DC ever has been at least until recently. Some of the hatred for women on here comes off as really bizarre. Perhaps you weren't breastfed as a kid, or girls won't give you the time of day. It's like a sad parody of the Little Rascal's "He-Man Women Haters Club". And female characters don't overwhelm villains in the collection.

pirate adam said...

gotta say, i find myself agreeing with CBR Beast, i'm happy with the women in the collection with the exception of Silver Sable, and there are still lots of great female characters still to be done even some X-Chicks :)

LAWay said...

yeh, i agree with CBR Beast here, you guys seem to have a real problem with women characters.

While there are 'token' female characters that were created as counterparts to male characters, there were alot of original strong female characters too, and some of the female characters are still strong today. It just depends on how good the writer is. And shouldnt we be happy that characters like Phoenix and Invisible woman are strong? It isnt really that common, and if you think about it with their powers, its just the evolution of the writing that have elaborated their abilities. Same with Mr Fantastic. Early days he was just bendy, now we know he is practically invincible.

Maybe it is highlighted more because there aren't as many female characters as male, but there are alot of rubbish male characters that are gimmicky without much substance too.

I think it all comes down to the story and the writer. Of course alot of people mainly like the female characters purely for their looks. But then again, isnt the design of male marvel characters what drew you into their comics in the first place?

Would be interesting to have a female viewpoint on the issue on how they perceive female characters and if they see the male ones like how we see the female ones.

Robert said...

Jeez, that was some meltdown, CBR! How did you go from "very few really interest me" to calling that hatred? That's a helluva leap! I have no real interest in Bramley's Apple Pies, the colour lilac or East Anglia, but I don't hate them, either! Just because I don't like something I have "serious issues"? What a bizarre interpretation.

It is amazing that you, who accuse others of flinging insults and lowering the tone of polite conversation on here, can have the brass neck to post such outrageous, potentially deeply offensive personal attacks! To accuse me and others of not being breast-fed! Unbelievable. What a hypocrite you are.

There's tons of them. Might want to do some research on the Marvel Universe. It would go along way in making your arguments more reasonable.

Conan's a licensed character. So of course there's no Masterworks of it. I believe the company that now holds the license has released the Marvel stuff in trade though.

Robert said...

Ted, there were trades of the Conan stuff printed not so long ago. They might not be up to the quality of Masterworks but your wallet will be happier. I haven't read much of the Conan stuff by BWS and JB, although I'd like to one day as it looks pretty damn good. I was looking at a '70s Conan Treasury with a BWS cover on Saturday and I'll admit I was tempted to buy it. Actually, one of the reasons I like Conan - I found out tonight - is that strong female characters like Belit die. As I wasn't breastfed (my mother's a liar) and I can't interact with women (my wife is a mirage), I just can't bear to see a woman who can be considered an equal to the Cimmerian.

tinodragon14 said...

Once again you do not read what I write just read in to it what you want. I said Marvel's response to feminism. I never said they did not have any good female characters. I thought of the FF as four heroes each with different powers working together then there came this need to elevate Sue's power above the other three just as Thundra was brought in to beat up & humiliate Ben all in my opinion to pander to feminism. Even without super powers Spidey's or Peter's Aunt May & his succession of girlfriends Betty, Gwen & Mary Jane were all strong ladies. Thor's Sif was a warrior & Jane was his strong mortal woman. X-Men did come up with a number of original women heroes & villains whether it was Mystique or Rogue or Destiny or Storm but then there was this need to elevate Marvel Girl to the all consuming universe destroying Phoenix. Now if that sounds like hatred for women you are in the Twilight Zone Mr. Beast & as an old Fatman certainly no He-Man or little rascal my opinion after many years as a fan & supporter of Marvel Comics is just as valid as anyone else's on this blog. There are more villains & more male villains then there are heores male or female & that is just a fact & many of them have still not been done so to do lesser hero characters & yes that includes female characters. And since he brought it up Mr. Beast must have the breast eating problem since I have no idea why that would effect my opinion on anything.

Anonymous said...

All of the FF have had their powers grow and become stronger over the years. It's not just Sue. So that's nonsense. Pretty much every long running character has had power upgrades over the years. And you can find just as many male characters who have been elevated to being ungodly powerful. See Iceman. Taking the blinders of female hate off and actually looking at the MU without a bias of female hatred would do a lot to expand your limited understanding of it.

LAWay said...

lol I only read CBR Beasts first sentence and agreed with him, never realized he wrote down all the other stuff! Blimey! Wouldnt agree with that at all!

Toad love
Well, hello. Just got Toad today, and the fig is actually excellent.
The crouching pose works really well, making a distinctive fig. Yes, the arm is a bit long... but hey, Toad is the king of freaks after all.

Artistic inTOADpretation
What strikes me as a new approach is that the fig is EM's own hybrid of classic design and modern design. The long tongue is a design element of modern Toad, but the rest of the sculpt is classic Toad. Does anyone know if there are actual instances of classic Toad with modern tongue in Marvel comics? I'm curious. In any case, the hybrid design has resulted in a distinctive fig. Kudos to EM.

Avengers costume obviously, as Swordsman will need her next to him!

Its like watching a soap on here sometimes :)

The great female debate ?

I just spent 20 minutes looking at my collection which are all on display next to me. I dont have from Balder onwards yet but the rest are all here. I am waiting for Odin and Spiral to be released before taking my next package.

Looking at all the females done to date I have 37 of which I would consider maybe 25% to be less than satisfactory visually as figurines. Not costume choices but sculpt or paint.

I dont have any problem with any of them being 'in' the collection so that isnt where I am coming from.

1 in 4 isnt horrendous but if I compare that with males its more like 1 in 10 I am unhappy with.

Looking at villains I think Sabretooth and Ultron are my only letdowns. (yuck and too small)

I have no input to give regarding the comics and strength of characters, what I care about is striking figurines.

I buy 100% and dont mind however many females as EM want to do provided they look good. Based on my feelings to date Villains look best followed by male hero's and then females.

Obviously there are standouts on all sides but the misses are predominantly female.

Its great that we all have strong feelings on the subject but I dont think anyone is a 'hater' from comments so far.

I must admit that I would like to have a webcam on Beast so I can see if he is grinning or frowning ;)

dallen238 said...

arachne didnt have some brief x men appearances she was part of freedom force,as for CBR BEAST the people going on about the female characters are saying there are too many as a percentage of the collection not that we hate women but unlike you who appears to want them to give himself something to fiddle with himself to in his bedroom we want a visualy interesting figurine not the bogstandard playboy model we have been getting, and by the way it is 5 out of your list and saying they are mostly villains dosnt change the fact that they are x villains not representative of the rest of the M U.

tinodragon14 said...

Dallen what is a geordie?

Going along with Toon some of the female characters are quite bad like Crystal with her hair looking like it is bleeding instead of her classic distinctive hairdo I cannot put her on display with the other Inhumans whereas Medusa was done very well. BLACK WIDOW was a another disappointment with her holding that firearm I remember her swinging around the city with DD & not needing to carry around that absurdly sized weapon. WHITE QUEEN's face was just awful & they went with the sexy modern pose with Mystique when clearly her classic costume would have made a better looking figure. SPIRAL looks to be one of the best looking figures male or female but two characters I'm indifferent to could have been done better. Siryn's winged dress is crumpled & Domino is having sex with her guns. With the villain SABRETOOTH should have been an impressive bad guy but he is not & as I have said before THE LIZARD & TOAD did not need those awful looking tongues. Sometimes you wish they had done something extra like the cracked base under GORGON'S hoof with say the SHOCKER who looks fine but why not have him with his arms out like he is about to fire his shockwaves. That is a classic stance for him. Oh well I still buy them all & hope the powers that be at EM will keep it going so more villains can keep coming out.

mighty_marvel said...

a geordie is somebody who is from newcastle, england.

TheTooN said...

A 'Geordie' strictly speaking is someone who is from Newcastle in the north east of England. As you travel south in the UK anyone from the north East is referred to as a Geordie due to the accent which is similar across the region. Even Sunderland folk get called Geordies by others from the UK which is fun as it makes them mad :) (Sunderland are our close rivals and arch enemies in football)

Newcastle United are the towns football team and the nickname of Newcastle is 'The Toon' due to the way we pronounce 'town'

Just to balance my earlier comment we have also had some 'awesome' female sculpts such as Enchantress,Scarlet Witch,Titania,Shulkie,Jocasta and Tigra so EM have proved how good they can be at the female form.

LAWay said...

Maybe EM should employ someone to specifically sculpt female characters. Like in comics, the women characters are best when drawn by the hands of specialists like Frank Cho and Adam Hughes. Or maybe the designer of the female characters needs to be addressed.

Unless it has been an EM decision not to have them looking typically 'comicy' and out of proportions. Which, I feel guilty in saying, is a shame. *cough* perv *cough* ^_^

So next update we have no clue what its gonna be except maybe reveal news about the frankenstein style contest?

Oh, and Toon, on the talksport predictor game I got Sunderland beating the toon army this weekend. Sorry. ;)

I also agree Toon Town that ENCHANTRESS, SHE-HULK, JOCASTA, TIGRA & SCARLET WITCH all are well done. I especially like how they did Wanda's cape as it swirls around in a way that gives her a feeling of taking action.

Regarding dumb things Americans say (we love you guys, and I have lots of relations in Utah and some in South Dakota, but sometimes you say some crackin' things), David Hasselhoff recently turned up in Scotland, wearing a kilt no less, and shouted to a large crowd, "IT'S GREAT TO BE IN IRELAND!" Dafty. But funny.

I know someone from Glasgow who met an American tourist while in France. "Oh! You're Scottish?" said the friendly and enthusiastic American. "Yes, I come from Glasgow." "Glasgow, eh? I once met a man from Inverness. Do you know him?" "Erm, no." (Inverness is nearly 200 miles away!)

As for accents, you Geordies, you outta try a Glaswegian one!

No offense meant, guys! We can forgive you anything anyway as you gave the world Stan Lee!

I speak fluent Glaswegian Robert ;)

Kept a bloke going for 15 minutes in a bar on Sauchiehall street one night. I was in fear of my life mind you ! It is a similar accent to folks abroad I guess.

We get asked if we are from London EVERY trip at least half a dozen times. Jasper Carrot used to do a sketch where an american said to him....British huh ? Do you know Mrs White from Blackpool !!

My nipper has been 13 times in his 5 years and says stuff like 'garbage' or 'trash' (despite repeated beatings :P)

Robert said...

No idea, Jinx. Sorry.

Sauchiehall Street, Toon? At the end the street turns into Buchanan Street and you're mere metres from FP! There's a very old (and completely unfunny) Glaswegian joke about a thick policeman finding a dead horse in Sauchiehall Street and having to drag it into Bath Street, which runs parallel. (The unspoken "punchline" is he's a copper, therefore thick and can't spell.) Ah, those Victorians, what fun they were!

Passed through Newcastle once but always meant to go back. My bus stopped off there on way back from Germany in January of 1989. I got off for 45 minutes for a wander and to listen to the locals. Got back on to find someone had thrown my small bag with my Walkman into a bin. The lady who cleaned the bus recovered it and was hugely apologetic. In an effort to make it up to me, she gave me a huge mug of hot chocolate. I hadn't had one in months and I'm very partial to hot chocolate. Anyway, I licked my lips, raised the cup to my mouth - just as the bus started up and lurched forward - causing me to throw the hot chocolate all over myself.

I arrived in Glasgow several hours later still wearing the hot chocolate.

Way I figure it, Newcastle still owes me a large hot chocolate.

Love Glasgow.

I was there for the 6-2, never been before or since. That night wandering back to the hotel shattered leaving my Celtic supporting mate and his bhoys boozing I was followed by two aggressive sounding drunks. "Hey, Jambo!" I walked on. "Jambo!", still walking. "Hey Jambo! Whay ye doin' around here?"

Knowing Hibs had beaten Hearts that afternoon, I turned, gambling their hatred of Hearts would outdo their hatred of the English for that night at least, and in my best sarf Lahden cum mockney accent said "Wot mate?" "Hey, ye no a Jambo!" said one. "Who'd ye support pal?" "Southampton", I said, this time in a rough approximation of the Duke of Westminster's accent. "Oh, we like them... Yer alright pal."

Exeunt me pronto, while the laddies continued their search for a Jambo to duff up.

Good old Saints, never really good enough for anyone to really hate them, apart from that dozy bunch down the coast.

If you've never been and get a chance do so. A wonderful city full of, despite my tale, wonderful people.

Nice to hear some positive sentiments towards by city, MGF. It has a fairly grim reputation but it's probably no better or worse than most large British cities. And football hooligans are commonplace in practically every town and city in Europe, so thanks for not just jumping on the predictable bandwagon that Glasgow is some sort of Wild West town.

Ah,dear auld Glesgae toon,My first visit was a school trip tae Hampden 1979, on a wednesday night to watch Scotland play Norway. a team full of legends. Dalgleish,Gemmil,Jordan etc.
No way schools would run trips like that these days, I remember us standing down at the front completely unaware that a river of warm pish was lapping up my sensible shoes, At the half time crush i remember this guy coming down the steps groaning "stab wound tae the belly" over and over, We even managed tae sneak in alcohol, i remember drinking my first tin oh MacEwans export and thinking the pishwater that was up tae my ankles couldn't taste any worse..we won 3-2, happy days

Hey Robert, did you catch Brad in Glasgow today?, Ma Facebook is full of Brad pics from the filming today..Glasgow doubles for New York as it as the same architect who designed areas ofboth cities...or my missus could be lying.

When I got back to Glasgow from Edinburgh on Monday night, Ted, George Square was all fenced off for filming and the taxi had to take a diversion. I think Brad and family arrived the next day (or the day after) on a personal train. If Manchester can be Brooklyn for the Cap film, I suppose Glasgow can pretend to be Philadelphia.

I have to go into Glasgow on Saturday so my bike can get MOTed, so may mosey on over and see what's going on. Although, if I'm being honest, I would rather spot Mrs Pitt...

I love the female sculpts. There are some brilliant ones!

Typhoid Mary, Enchantress and Titania are just phenomenal imo.

Siryn is pure perfection for me. Really good quality fig. And i'm not just saying that cause I'm such a big fan. It's definitely one of my fave.

Can't wait for Songbird to get here, in Canada.

Good job for Destiny, Firestar, Jocasta, Lilandra, Polaris, Scarlet witch, Destiny

There's a lot of people that dislike Jubilee as a character and Dazzler's costume choice (I love both, especially Dazzler) but the sculpts are great too.

And I can't wait for Spiral, Photon, Magik, Shanna, Arachne, Mockingbird, Domino and Nico Minory. I don,t think any of those are weak figurine. On the contrary. EM are getting a lot better at doing female characters.

The only female sculpt I don,t like as much, were done in the begining (Emma frost's face, Jean Grey's face...Crystal, Black cat to name a few) Eww I really dislike Black cat and Jean Grey's face.

That's my opinion, but I sincerely believe that the more recent female sculpts are just as great as male sculpts

Robert & Ted,
Is that right that when Brad Pitt got to George Square for the filming of World War Z, he said
" I really like how the special effects make it look like a zombie apocalypse"
and the special effects guy said...
" We haven't started yet"
Boom Boom, I shouldn't really say things like that, what with family all living there.

Robert said...

Actually, when he got there he said, "Why did they remove the Victorian grassed areas and trees? It looked much better before?"

That's an in-joke for my fellow Glaswegians.

As we didn't get any clues last week, I have no idea who or what we will get announced this week. Hoping for U.S.Agent or Mantis.

the trouble with someone like CBR Beast is he's had his say far to often.i like a good number of female and x characters but not at the expence of many, many other characters.new mutants was always a load of crap,a bit like bunty i imagine.the characters are practically all tedious little girls worried about their hair and boyfriends, which all well and good but marvel has nose-dived in comic sales largley because of this.the reason they became so popular was through characters with great powers and costumes.and certainly i am sick to death of seeing the same type of female in dreary different coloured liotards.and by the way if you ever come out of your bedroom i tink you will find not all women have big tits.

Sad to report that the Golden Age Poll seems to be going to another nearly nude big bosomed female character Namora at 30% with the Jim Hammond Human Torch at 13%, The Whizzer at 12% & The Rawhide Kid at 10%. Any one of those three guys would make a better looking figure not to mention my poor Red Raven at a puny 5%. Bested by the boobs again! Seems like a lot more people voted in the first go round though.

TheTooN said...

Do you think that shows not too many are fussed to have golden age ?

I voted Whizzer myself but thats only down to having a single issue of the Invaders as a nipper and I loved the cover which had him front and centre.

I would be happy with Torch too but thats about all I know having never gone back that far.

I read on the forum that Namora starts Agents of Atlas so she will have got some votes from their fans. Dont know the team at all but like the look of her from comicvine. (not just for boobage either)

If its a golden age poll and she wins will EM do her in a golden age costume or in a more modern sexy look ?

tinodragon14 said...

Now you know Toon Town they will have a poll & the majority will vote for sexy i.e. boobage. At least with HUMAN TORCH, THE RAWHIDE KID, RED RAVEN & WHIZZER there is no need for a costume choice poll.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like you've never even read New Mutants, Lon. Might want to do some research. I have the entire run, and there was no issue with the few girls on the team worrying about their hair or their boyfriends. You're certainly welcome to not like the characters, nobody is forcing you to. But they have their fans. And it's due to their characters, not due to their boobs. It's funny you accuse me of caring only about the boobage. You're barking up the wrong tree there fellow.

Also, none of the reasons you stated are why comic sales are down. There's this little thing like the terrible economic situation of the world. But you know what, Marvel still beats DC every month in sales. So they're clearly doing something right with their characters and stories.

As for the Golden Age Poll, Namora's getting a lot of votes for a few reasons. She's one of the GA characters who is still around and still relevant. And she has a lot of fans from Agents of Atlas. All of the Agents are doing really well in the poll. And there's only two females on the team, so it's clearly not due to the boobs. Again, I'm not Deadpool. I don't care about lead boobs. I care about the characters being made. And Marvel just has great female characters.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

your my favourite female charachter Beast :)
And it's not because of your boobs!
