Winging it...

Welcome back to the Friday update.

Lots of great ideas in Monday’s comments section. I really like all the ideas of other collections and additions to the current Marvel Collection.

I personally would love an Indy comics figurine collection. I’d want to get as much Dark Horse and Image characters in as possible. My favourites would be: Hellboy, Savage Dragon, Spawn, Witchblade, Ash (from Evil Dead), Invincible, Rick Grimes from Walking Dead… the list would never end.

At the moment it’s not something we’re planning to do (it’s a little tricky with all the individual character rights) but hey never say never.

I would also love to do at least one Amalgam Comics character but as the comics were a joint Marvel/DC publication the logistics of getting the licence and producing the figures make it highly unlikely.

Unfortunately, the same licence issues raise their ugly heads when looking at other Marvel published work. Micronauts, Rom, Dr. Who, Star Trek and Star Wars were all properties that were licensed by Marvel. Once their agreement came to an end Marvel could no longer use the characters and certainly couldn’t let us use them. This is why some old Marvel comics cannot be easily reprinted.

We had a similar issue with our Shang-Chi magazine. As was pointed out in the magazine, we couldn’t show or even mention that Shang’s father was supposed to be Fu Manchu. This is because Stan Lee licensed Fu from Sax Rohmer’s estate. It also explains why there has never been a collected addition of Master of Kung Fu – Marvel would either have to pay for a licence or remove images and references of Fu Manchu from the comics!

Anyway, just wanted to explain why at the moment certain things can’t be done. This of course doesn’t stop you guys from letting us know what you want added to the collection or what new collections you’d like. If you really want a Shi or Hellboy or Street Fighter figurine collection let us know.

Right so on to this week’s figure update, I present to you the Wasp. We’ve not completely finished this character yet and are actually investigating the use of clear (possibly plastic) wings instead of the ones in this image. What do you think?

Hi PAdam still here although for the next few weeks my comments will be a little sparce to say the least with the move to the Isle of Man going ahead!!

Dude I don't think another custom has ever been more antisipated, can't wait to see Bor.

Come on Rich lets make Friday's update a little special - how about confirming a 200AD collection?

I did mean 2000AD - OOOOOOPPPPPSSS

Aaaargh Matey.

Pirate Adam, a land lubber worthy of the black spot if ever I saw one.
All peg-leg, parrot and petticoat.
Even so, the scurvy swab is still worth a parley.

And the Mad Thinker contemplates my sanity.
The signs of maddness are never present in a rhetorical question.

But it it nice to see that my adoring fans have elevated me to Blog Master.

In Richards absence I will present the next topic.

DOUBLE or NOTHING
=================
Double Packs have not sold well, so it would seem.
The general feeling is that the Moss Men have been off the mark regarding character combinations.

With the exception of Puck /Sasq and the Alpha Twins, which combinations do you guys think would work best to turn in a profit?

On a similar subject the Moss Men of DC (Booo Hissss) have turned out more specials than the Marvel collection, over smaller range of figures.
Should the Mighty Moss Men of Marvel produce more regular specials or is the ratio just right?

Finally, to close this weeks Deadpool blog topic.
2000AD collection yes or no?
My vote is yes .... what's yours?

Cracking Blogg topic Deadpool.

In my opinion subcribers who receive two figures per month are used to receiving double packs.

Why not provide the monthly release as a single double pack to save on packaging?

Additonally the Moss Men could provide limited edition double packs for Subscibers only.
Demand being judged using a "Reply if you don't want it" letter in your delivery.
The interval between notification and release could be 3 months.

Subscribers would also have the option to purchase more than 1 set of the subscriber only limited edition.

Oh and Deadpool I think your suggestions for alternative collections are genius.
2000AD is an absolute must.

Keep up the good work.

Love DP

Deadpool said...

Well Deadpool, I can't really agree on the standard subscriber 2 pack release every month.

What about the "NON subscribers" (that's such mucky phrase), that may only want single figures?

I do however agree with limited edition subscriber 2 pack specials.
They would probably have a good re-sale value on Ebay.

Oh and 2000AD would be super cool.

Deadpool - keep up the good work.

:0)

It's official...Deadpool has taken over! lol
Today: the internet. Tomorrow: the World!

Deadpool said...

That's rather unethical DP.
Re-sale value on Ebay.
Hang your head in shame!

On a slightly different note, I think that specials should be available bi-monthly.

Additionally there should be double packs of Minor heroes and Henchmen that have a single magazine and be a lower price than a two single figures - say £11.99 for example.

Oh and bring back Robert, Jabba and Ted; i want to know what they think about this topic.

oh and DP ... you are my God.

Love DP

Deadpool said...

Wise words Sister Venom.

But what do you think of todays blog topic - Double or Nothing?

PS ... DP I ang on your every word.

XXX DP

Deadpool said...

I have a responsibility to my fans.
Please stay on TOPIC DP.

We are the crucible of creativity and the Moss Men are our tools.

Let them hear our voices loud and clear.

I want a Lionheart / original Captain Britain double pack subscriber limited edition special.

My choice for other collections would be the Eternal Champion set - Elrich, Erekose, Hawkmoon, Corum etc.

Hello .. this is Deadpool's wife.

I have put him to bed and given him his medication.

He is getting a little over excited.

He'll be out to play again tomorrow.

Anyway I asked for a Shi model / figurine or whatever you call it.
It had better turn up or I will not be happy.

DP says good night.

Oyasuminasai from me :)

deadpool quote me if i'm wrong but did you just say eaglemoss should produce double packs and sell them for less than 2 single packs ?
and did you say the price could be £11.99 for those packs ?
well if i am right here , and it's just a hunch , mind.
but doesn't 2 single packs at £5.99 each total £11.98 ?
if so £11.98 is cheaper for 2 single packs than buying one of your twin pack specials at £11.99.
maybe only a penny but still one penny cheaper none the less !!

WHO YOU CALLIN A LAND LUBBER?!?!?!?

i havent seen land in 20 years!!! (i think im lost)

now Mr Deadpoo (merc on meds) i do like your idea of having more specials per year, but only if they are reserved for characters that require them and not some stupid size changer that can easily be done regular size.

Jacadoo good to see you back buddy, however the pressure you have put on me creating a half decent Bor,, ooohhh my belly hurts.(argh that stinks) you get the picture, i am looking forward to it though :)

Deadpool said...

Damn .. the Mad Thinker has exposed my plan to profiteer from double packs.

Or maybe I was on about a reduced price for special sized limited edition double pack specials.

OK I concede .... the cost should be ... lets say £8.99.

Just for INFO my wife was supposed to just turn off my PC when I went to bed.. not to muscle her way in on my turf.

Any way does that MT vessel of yours think the concept of lower cost double packs is a good idea?

Nice to see that Pugwash is on the side of more specials.
Take note Richard.. there is a swell of public opinion growing.

(I hope the rumours of PA's antics with "Jolly Roger" aren't true...shudder)

Deadpool said...

Richard, why doesn't your DC equivalent (Booooooo HISSSSSSS) have a DC blog?

Surely the 3 or 4 DC fans in the country deserve a say in the future of the DC collection.

Why can't we have sculpts in the Marvel collection that capture the same muscle definition and level of detail as DC?

As one of the 3 or 4 DC collectors I can make a direct comprison between the two collections.

The colours used are much more vibrant too.

Pass on the message to create the DC blog ... I have a close friend called Deathstroke who needs his voice to be heard.

Deadpool said...

Buffy collection.

Stop pussy footing around Moss Men.
Stop teasing us with limited releases of Buffy figurines.

We want a full on frag fest with a collection of all Buffy's allies such as Cordy, Willow(Vamp, witch, Dark), Xander, Giles, Oz and the full complement of her hell mouth enemies.

Do it!
Do it Now!

or I'll be back.

The Shi-devil wants them really .. but shi is not allowed on my PC after defaming my character last night.

Deadpool said...

Admantium.

Marvel are giving it away in lucky bags these days.
Even the likes of Bulls ....eye has it. JEEEZ

It was relatively cool when Wolvie was the main one with it, but now its everywhere.

Why didnt X23 get a full set of Amantium and why didn't I.

What's next super-mutant-meta Admatium-zirconia?

Lets have a special figurine of Wolvie stripped down to his admantium skeleton

Deadpool said...

Remember the discussion about backdrops?

Well after some careful thought, how about Lenticular Backdrops?

They would give more depth and a 3Dimensional effect.

What say you?

Oh and my word verification this time is S P E R M ... is some blog administrator trying to send me a message????????

Anonymous said...

deadpool if you keep on posting your typing fingers will start to hurt and you may even get blisters

Deadpool said...

Wise words my cerebral comrade.

Blistered fingers are but a small price to pay to ensure that the Superhero community is serviced to the subscribers satisfaction.

Hairy palms is a much worse affliction.. at least that's what Deatstroke said.

Again on the subject of Double packs.
Puck and Marina as a double act with a single magazine and a £8.99 price tag would be mighty fine gesture of good will.

Deadpool said...

Death Note.

The characters in Death Note are pretty cool, particularly the Death Gods Ryuk, Rem and Jealousy.

They would make an excellent special mini series of models, just like the current Buffy collection.

Deadpool said...

I have a good idea for a short run of Special figures....

The Rocky Horror show collection.

I am sure Richard O'Brien would approve wholeheartedly.

pirate adam said...

DeadPOO, wouldn't the blisters on your fingers heal straight away?

Where are Rob and Ted? i hope they havent called it a day after there little missunderstanding, i have grown quite fond of the old farts

PA

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Well PA,this auld fart has decided to get on with his second attempt at a custom , I have assembled my Frankenstein from various figurines ( Actually the Frankenstein Monster would be cool )
I am trying paint the little bugger my poor old peepers are burning with the strain!
After this one i will return to the more sedate hobby of creating my next superhero themed mosaic.
My screams of frustration are getting me some right odd looks from the neighbors? ... odder than usual that is :) .

Pirate Adam should stop plundering his forbidden fruit... his fellow bloggers are becoming rather nervous.

As a Games Workshop Master Painter (I got the T shirt in 1988) I may allow you all to view some of my 25mm figure work.

I'll see what I can do this weekend and maybe post some images online.

But everyone has forgotten the purpose of this blog.

Maybe its gone on too long (for some reason that I have yet to identify).

Anyway.

After more inspection of Wasp.
The hair style has grown on me, leave it as it is.

The wings need to be doubled up - 4wings not just 2 and made of lead not perspex.
I think perspex would be too fragile and ephemeral (they are bound to snap off).

Deadpool said...

We need to find Richard.

Send out the search parties.

His alchohol fueled binge must end.

Check every doorway, dumpster, public lavatory, cardboard box, riverbank and bridge arch for the scruffy old wino.

Give him a bath, a shave, a haircut, a de-lousing and a litre of black coffee to sober him up.

He has been delinquent in his duties.

We need more info on this collection.

Just look at what this sort of behaviour has done to Deathstroke!!!

Exorcise the demon drink and put this episode behind you Richard.
Let it never be spoken of again.

While we are on the subject of AWOL bloggers... where is Robert?

Has he ended his relationship with Ted?
Will his pillow be streaked with tears rather than saliva and teeth marks?

OMG this is becoming complicated.

Bayliss said...

Man I'd love a Street fighter collection. Same scale as Marvel and DC collections tho, none of that massive Buffy business.
Also an Indy comic collection would be cool however I see licencing issues with all the different companies that it would involve. I'd want a Grace from Soulfire figurine.

noodleboy said...

Hi,new here.
Id love to see a 2000ad collection.
Plenty ideas for specials too-
Dredd on his lawmaster, chopper on his board,Warpspasm slaine, etc
Indy comic figures id like-
Groo, usagi yojimbo, teenage mutant ninja turtles,bone,miracle/marvelman(now marvel own him whats chances he can be added to the marvel range, even if we dont know what marvel are doing with him?)
People mention videogame collections,i think a silent hill one would be cool, weird nurses and pyramid head!
