just popping in to say hello/goodbye...

Hey bet ya thought I was gone forever?

I've been more busy than ever over the last month working on issues 8 and 10 of the Marvel Fact-Files (my first issues). Yes the secret is out - that's my destiny for the next 2 years!!!!

There are 4 of us (2 editors and 2 designers) split into 2 teams doing alternate issues to try and manage the weekly schedule. I work on the even numbered issues, but we all chip in and plan the issues together and try our best to make sure they are coherent and factually correct (not always possible on such a tight schedule!)

Like you guys, I was sceptical of it's merits in regard to the CMFC.
Having now worked on it for a month I am beginning to see how this could turn into a really nice collection. Of course it's never going to replace the CMFC, but as something to work on it's better than' Chandeliers Of The World' (I made that up btw). And it's something for Marvel fans to hopefully get in to.
The first issue has done better than expected and it seems to be a success at this early stage.
Bare in mind there are lots of new Marvel fans out that that didn't even know the CMFC existed!

I'm not a total EM drone, so I do have certain (personal) problems with it (mainly 32 pages every 2 weeks as opposed to the CMFC 16 pages, which takes a lot of work, you might say "ah but you don't have to deal with the figurines" But, I do have to commission the gate-fold cutaway artworks that grace every issue - so that takes up a shit load of time in research and communicating with the artists involved. (Just commissioned a War Machine armour cutaway and Dr. Strange's Sanctum Santorium.)
It's also very complicated trying to get your head around the way the thing comes together in the folders - every card has it's coded place in the chapters - so this can get a bit tedious. Also I thought a thicker even laminated card would be better than the thin paper, but hey who am I to stand in the way of progress :)

Here's a very, very rough idea for the Sanctum Santorium. This was scrapped in favour of a full length shot of the whole building with cutaway views of all the levels.

And here's just a detail from the War Machine cutaway...

I'm not going to turn this blog into a Fact Files advert - so don't worry I won't be updating regularly, just thought you'd like to know what's going on.

As for the competition I STILL WANT TO DO IT and I have a simple plan to execute, hopefully I will get around to it soon (imagines picture of Sonic the Hedgehog crossed arms tapping foot).

It will involve a 2 part question to be e-mailed with name and address and I will reward the first 10 with correct answers prizes beyond you wildest dreams (or a broken Crystal perhaps). I've got a box of various figurines that will be shared out amongst the luck few! PS the 10 winners will be in descending order of prizes (e.g first place gets 6 figurines, 2nd 4, 3rd 3 or whatever).

Anyway best get back to the real job. All the best for now and Make Mine Marvel!

Wow Thor8 you have been busy mate - please post away.

Its always good to see other customizers work.

LarryS said...

Oh dear. Six weeks and no new posts. The CMFC slips sadly into ancient history...

SinisterVenom said...

I do check in myself every now and then. Hoping for at least a little bit of conversation about anything, not necessarily the CMFC. But it's looking less and less likely it's going to happen now I'm sad to say.

Despite whatever happens I'll always keep coming back to check this page so anyone wants to say anything then at least I'll still be here to read it and say hi.

Hope everyone is keeping well anyway guys!

I also keep an eye on the blog, and was wondering who it would be (if anyone at all..)who would post next. Now that you guys have broken the ice, as it were, I thought it would be a good time to share with you a couple of comic-related blogs that I highly recommend.
Firstly, 'Diversions of a Groovy Kind'. This is an excellent and highly entertaining site for anyone into the Bronze Age (basically the 70s) of comics. It has cover galleries, whole issue reproductions and a very informal, but informative host. It changes on a daily basis, so it's always worth checking out.
Secondly, 'Super Team family: The Lost Years'. This is a brilliant site run by one guy who every day (including weekends!) posts a new cover mash-up of DC, Marvel and occasionally Indie Characters done in the style of a 70's era DC Super Team Family cover. The guy is a master at Photoshop or whatever he uses, and the ideas for the team-ups are wonderful. I'm just amazed that he can come up with a new one every day...
Also, as for figurines...they are doing a Groot and Rocket Special in the Chess Collection. I'm seriously thinking of getting this one, as I think it's the first time they've done Marvel characters that haven't already appeared in the CMFC.
Anyway..

Great chatting with you guys again!!

Ciao,
BD

Thor8 said...

I really thought the show was over this time, but even so I kept checking to see if anyone would post. Glad to hear from you guys once more.

Bob I'll give the sights you mentioned a looksee and I let you know what I think about it in a future post. Take care guys!

LarryS said...

Thanks Bob. I'll definitely check those sites.

Groot and Rocket chess pieces ... what supreme irony! I remember time after time we lobbied Dan for them to be included in the CMFC. Time after time, he told us the Higher-Ups wouldn't approve "funny animal" characters. Guess they now realise the error of their ways. Shame that the fate of the CMFC had to rest on the capricious whim of such people.

SinisterVenom said...

It's great to hear from you all again and to see that you guys also check in from time to time! Just like the good ol' days! Glad to see that you're keeping well! :)

It's true about Groot and Rocket coming into the Chess Collection. I saw Groot announced a couple of months back on the Facebook page. There was a competition going on about winning tickets to see Guardians Of The Galaxy and it showed the Groot chess piece, though it never said how to get him. Everyone was going crazy for it!
He was eventually announced to be one of the two pieces, along with Rocket in the next special a few weeks ago. I can honestly say they look amazing. All we need now is Star-Lord and then EM would have made the 5 Guardians that people wanted all those years ago. Only problem with the Chess Collection is it's lacking villains. Before this special, we had the Hulk and She-Hulk special so now we've got two specials on the side of heroes. We need some specials for the villains. Thanos would be ideal.

Wouldn't it be great if EM decided to do 20 final figurines to celebrate Marvel's 75th anniversary just to round up the ones we're missing. Maybe we should start a petition! Haha! Wishful thinking I know but a guy can dream...

What the hell is that all about?

Jacadoo said...

Hi just checked back in and I find all the old gang posting!!!

Just want to say hello and how good it is to see you all again.

Roberto you have inspired me to go to comicon in London in October (my first time).

Thor8 buddy where's the customs??

Robert said...

One of the Showmasters events, Jacadoo?

Get there EARLY!

I was at the one in July as I had a magazine deal to write about Stan. Spent five hours with him on the Sunday! (If you go onto the Showmasters site to look at the official photo session with Stan, I'm in the last photo with my photographer!)

Anyway, it was a bit of a crush with huge queues. I was lucky I had a press pass, so I just walked in past queues all weekend. I hope you have an Early Bird ticket or get there very early. It's horribly over-sold.

And comics are a side-line.

Robert said...

I actually interviewed Larry and his son Ben at one point and didn't know till later!

Thor8 said...

Hi guys; Glad to see others have decided to join us once more. It would be great if we could hear from Pirate, Deadpool, Ted, Blake, LAWay, Mad Thinker, Toon, Eagle, Lars, Hawkeye, and the rest of the gang also.

I just received my latest batch of Marvel comics I currently read and I was greatly surprised to see an ad for The Marvel Chess Set. They even offer the first piece (Spider-Man) free, just pay S&H. I always wondered why EM never advertised the CMFC in Marvel's mags and often suggested they do so, but it was never done. I guess somebody in EM's and/or Marvel's higher uppers finally saw the light. Too bad they didn't see it before giving the CMFC the axe.

Jacadoo, Since the time I mentioned I'd try to show some of my customs it's been a very big and frightful roller coaster ride for me and mine. I really thought I was going to become a widower but my wife (with the help of My Lord) beat cancer once and it looks like she'll do it again. Even though my blog ID is that of a pagan god, I am a born again Christian and I've seen my God perform many miracles in my family including lifting me up from the dead and healing my badly broken body in an instant after a terrible auto accident. The crisis for my wife has past for now and I have faith that we will sing the song of final victory. I don't mean to preach on this blog but I just want to let you guys know that I really went through a wringer these past few weeks and that's why I haven't posted any of my customs. Believe me once you see them you'll realize that you weren't missing much.

Peace and may God bless!

BobDiamond said...

Wow...talk about putting everything into perspective Thor.
I'm sure I speak for all of us here in wishing and praying for your wife's recovery, and a long and happy continuation of your lives together.
All the very best to you both,
BD

Robert said...

Thor, best wishes to you, your wife and the whole family. I'm very sorry to read of these challenges you've been facing. I hope you're past the worst now. Robert.

Jacadoo said...

Thor please accept and pass on my best wishes to your wife.

Obviously customs are far further down the list of priorities. But please be assured when we do get to see them there will be no negative comments - its a hobby and a pass time.

Anyway - hey Roberto your a handsome fellow!!!! One week to go till comicon and I cannot wait.

Take care all and come on back Padam, La Victor larry.... where are you?

Jacadoo said...

Not really a custom - but has anybody else re-based any of the marvel chess collection?

I purchased the special hulk and re-based him - he looks awesome and more in line with what we hoped for in the original.

Or is there just no hope for me at all????

Thor8 said...

Hi guys! Just taking a moment to thank you all for your well wishing and inform you that my wife is doing great. Her faith does not falter and she is one strong brave woman whom makes the likes of Sif, She Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Wonder Woman, And all the other super chicks look like she- wimps.

Jacadoo I'm aware that you've been waiting over a year to see some of my customs, and I apologize for the long wait, but there's a chance of you being able to see them soon. Take care guys, Peace and may God Bless!

Thor8 said...

Oh Jac I almost forgot to mention, your idea of re-basing the Hulk special sounds like a good idea, maybe I'll try it myself.

Thor8 said...

HELP!!!
Is there anyone out there that has an extra Fact Files Spider-Man and/or Iron Man figurine they would sell for a reasonable price that won't force me to sell my house, car, and kids? ( will consider trading the last on this list)

Thor8 I am off to comicon in two days - the resident Olympian will take up the quest to see if I can find you them.

Fingers crossed - I will post the fruits of my labours for you on Saturday!!!

I was shocked - do not lose hope Birmingham Memorabilia is in November and I will search again.

Jacadoo,

But the size of the Chess figures is compatible with the size of the other collection?

I am thinking of buying the figures produced for the Chess collection which were missing from the classic collection but I want to make sure that the sizes are compatible.

As anyone else compared the two sizes?

Regards

Victor

Hey guys! If any of you are seeing this, I hope you are all keeping well!

I had a thought earlier. You guys seen the new Batman figurines that Eaglemoss are releasing to celebrate Batman's 75th anniversary? Basically it's the Batman, Joker, Two-Face and Catwoman figurines from the DC Chess Collection put onto figurine bases. It made me wonder, do you think they'll do anything similar for Marvel since they are also celebrating their 75th anniversary? I personally would like to see some figurines that we didn't get in the CMFC. I know the Marvel Chess Collection recently got the Groot and Rocket Raccoon specials and that they Molecule Man coming out soon too. Would love to see them put onto normal bases and would be great to also have Starlord so we could have our full set of the Guardians Of The Galaxy. A guy can dream eh?

Oh, and Thor8, I recall you saying you were collecting the Avengers figurines in the Marvel Fact Files. Have you seen the latest Hulk special that's just been released? I've got it and it looks amazing! I'd recommend it for your collection too :)

Keep cool everybody, be great to hear from you all again if you're out there!

Hey Wonderboy Ted, If your kids really like ol' RR and Groot so much, check out the Marvel chess double pack special. They're practically in scale with The CMFC figurines and if you can get a hold of some extra CMFC bases you can just place them onto them and there you have 'em.Oh and thanks very much for The Fact Files Iron Man offer, but shortly after I posted that comment I was able to get him along with a Wolverine fig. at a killer price.

Hey guys, not been on in a couple of weeks but hoping you all had a great Christmas and Happy New Year to you all too!

Also thought I'd let you know that as well as the latest Rocket and Groot special in the Marvel Chess Collection, I know that the next special is in fact Star Lord and Thanos! So if you're looking to add your Rocket and Groot chess pieces to your Gamora and Drax CMFC figurines, then you might want to keep a look out for this next special within the next month or so as I don't know the release date.

I've just got the Groot/ Rocket Raccoon and the new Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) chess pieces, and they are a total match, scale-wise, to the original figurine collection. They certainly look as good as the old collection- just wish they had a system where you could get them with alternative bases to fit better with the originals. I'm sure if Eaglemoss came up with this simple method of choice to their subscribers they would sell more than twice the amount of the newer series.
Anyway, another 2 more never-before-done figures coming up are Molecule Man and Starlord (however you need to get him in a double-pack Special with another Thanos unfortunately).
See you guys...

Hi Eagle;
I take a peek once in awhile to see if anyone has posted, but it seems this blog has been put out to pasture.

SinisterVenom said...

Hey guys, I'm still around too.

Like you, Thor8, I too pop by from time to time to see if anyone has posted. Maybe we're all doing the same thing here and checking to see if anyone posts, which is why nobody does post in the end.

Would still be great to hear from anyone else that's still out there and reading this. How have you all been? Anybody gotten any more Marvel goods? You all seeing Avengers Age Of Ultron within the next couple of weeks?
SV

Unknown said...

bo

Thor8 said...

I will definitely be seeing age of Ultron. I purchased The Avengers PVC statues from ART/FX, there pretty neat I hope they'll add Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Vision now that the new Avengers movie is coming soon.

Looks like not many bloggers left, since no one else has posted, not even eagle himself whom asked if there was anyone still out there.

SinisterVenom said...

It's true, it seems that there aren't many of us left now it's sad to say.

Nice to hear your collection doing well Thor8. You still getting your Avengers figurines from the Marvel Fact Files too? I know that Ultron is the next one they're doing and looks amazing. I don't know if you'd be interested in getting it though as it's an Avengers villain instead of an actual Avenger.
SV

Thor8 said...

I've kind of held back on the fact files figurines, since I heard they would be ending soon and for that reason I really don't feel it's worth collecting. I'd rather purchase the Marvel Chess Specials such as Groot and Rocket (I can't believe I'm saying this) Hulk, Archangel and any other character that was not included or was poorly done in the CMFC.

BobDiamond said...

Hi guys,
I've also dipped into the chess collection (sort of) recently to add the characters that we didn't get the first time round- Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), and the Groot/ Rocket 2-pack.
I want to get the Molecule Man and Archangel figs ( the last suggested by Venom a few months ago...thanks SV). I'm in a bit of a quandary over the Starlord/Thanos 2-pack however, as I kind of want SL but don't need another Thanos- the first one was excellent, and the chess version doesn't look great anyway...
Here's a thought; why couldn't Eaglemoss make the larger chess pieces with bases that could be screwed or popped-off so those of us who just want to add to the figurine collection can have compatible pieces? Would've made sense, and they would have had more interest/ customers I reckon...
Good to chat again,
BD

SinisterVenom said...

It certainly would have been easier that way wouldn't it? I would love to put the characters we didn't get in the CMFC onto regular CMFC bases but I wouldn't have a clue what I'm doing and don't want to risk it in case I make a mess of it all.

If you're interested in new characters guys, I found a list on the forum showing a possible running order for the X-Men set. While it's not 100% confirmed yet, the first 5 on the list have so far matched the first 5 that's being released so it looks like it may be true. Here's the list:

33 – Archangel
34 – Storm
35 – Colossus
36 – Mystique
37 – Nightcrawler
38 – Cyclops
39 – Magneto
40 – Rogue
41 – Scalphunter
42 – Magik
43 – Juggernaut
44 – Lady Deathstrike
45 – Brood
46 – Emma Frost
47 – Gambit
48 – Sabretooth
49 – Beast
50 – Daken
51 – Iceman
52 – Mr. Sinister
53 – Deadpool
54 – Dark Phoenix
55 – Wolverine
56 – Cable
57 – Omega Red
58 – Psylocke
59 – Bastion
60 – Deathbird
61 – Shadowcat
62 – Nimrod
63 – Mastermind
64 – Dark Beast

From what we have there, we have 9 characters that we didn't get in the CMFC: Archangel, Scalphunter, Brood, Daken, Dark Phoenix (If you don't include the CMFC Phoenix variant.), Bastion, Nimrod, Mastermind and Dark Beast.

I also know that the Mystique we're getting is in fact in her white dress and it actually looks amazing! Nightcrawler also comes with his sword too. If rumours are true though, I think some characters will be in their Marvel NOW! costumes instead. I've heard that Cyclops will be in his black and red costume and that we might even be getting Magneto in his white costume. Silly thing is we've also heard that Emma Frost will be in a black costume and will be the White Queen chess piece while Dark Phoenix will be the Black Queen piece. I personally would have switched those two around since Jean was one of the original X-Men and Emma was a member of the Hellfire Club. I guess we'll wait and see.

Oh and Thor8, from what I hear, I think the Fact Files are running up to around 150 issues and I've recently just got issue 107 as the latest so I think they'll possibly be able to fit in a few more figurines before it ends. Couldn't say how many though and that's if it really does stop and doesn't get another extension.

Good to hear from you guys again!
SV

BobDiamond said...

Thanks for the info SV, quite a few more to add to the collection there, but it'll be quite a few years before it's finished if all goes to plan!
Who knows what we'll be doing by then...
BTW, anyone seen Daredevil on Net Flicks yet? Heard it's good, hope as good as Agents of SHIELD and Gotham.
All the best,
BD

SinisterVenom said...

Yeah I've been watching Daredevil BD. I've only got 3 episodes left to watch now but I can say that it is truly amazing!
The actors who portray Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk are spot on! Foggy Nelson is played really well and we also have some good performances from characters like Karen Page, Madame Gao and Leland Owlsley (Though I don't think this character will become the Owl if we do ever get him. You'll see what I mean.) It is incredibly brutal in many places (expect a lot of violence and blood.) but all in all, it captures the setting for Hell's Kitchen completely and shows the kind of world that's full of crime before Daredevil came onto the scene to clean up Hell's Kitchen.
I am now keeping my fingers crossed that we'll end up seeing DD make it onto the big screen sometime soon. I will gladly go to watch it.
SV

SinisterVenom said...

Not long got home from seeing the midnight viewing for Avengers Age Of Ultron. I wasn't sure if I would end up saying it, but I loved it more than the first Avengers movie!
There's plenty of action and each character plays out brilliantly. Scarlet Witch has really grown on me a lot more, Quicksilver was fun to watch, Vision proved to be an iconic character and Ultron was everything I wanted him to be plus more! It is definitely worth seeing guys!
Oh, and you'll love Stan Lee's cameo. In my opinion, it's his best yet.

Hello everybody,

I am still around mainly reading the comments.

I have completed both Marvel and DC Collections and, surprisingly, I bought several figures directly from Eaglemoss. I have also purchased from them some of the Chess figures that did not make the main collections. I have several figures that I intend to custom but spare time is scarce since my son and I have started to build a model railway.

The Age of Ultron started today in Portugal and I am planning to see it next week.

Regards to all.

Thor8 said...

Hey eagle, glad to hear from you. How did you manage to purchase directly from Eaglemoss?

Victor said...

Hi Eagle, I'm from portugal and I have completed both Marvel and DC Collections.

How did you manage to purchase directly from Eaglemoss?

SinisterVenom said...

I too would like to know about where you purchased directly from Eaglemoss, Eagle. I've gotten a fair few from their online shop before but usually I always get a problem with an order whenever I order there. Usually a broken figurine or missing issues.

I'm collecting CMFC figurines for my little brother as I have them all but I'm also building up my DC Figurine Collection too. I'm mostly concentrating on the Batman ones first before I get the rest.
SV

Eagle said...

Hi guys,

It was quite simple, really.

I sent an email to Eaglemoss asking if they would send figures to Portugal as I wanted to complete my two collections.

I received a reply, not from Eaglemoss but from a marketing company that handles their sales saying that they did. So I sent a list of the figures that I needed and I received a reply with the names of the figures that were available, their cost and the transport costs. I sent a bank transfer for the total amount and, about a week later, I received the figures.

Possibly the fact that a marketing company is handling the sales makes the process easier.

Regards to all.

Thanks Eagle, I'll give it a try.

I went to see Age Of Ultron this weekend and enjoyed it quite a lot. The Ant-Man movie seems as if it's going to be quite interesting, I hope we're not disappointed.

Hey did the theaters you went to see the Avengers have the cold drinks cups with different Avengers figurines on the lid up for sale? I got Thor natch, and their more or less in scale with the CMFC. My sons got Ultron, Iron Man and Cap.

SinisterVenom said...

I got one of the figurines too. I got myself an Ultron while my buddy who I saw it with got himself a Cap. I believe all the Vue cinemas are giving them away with the large drinks.

Hey everyone! Hope you're all ok! I don't know how many of you are still out there and still come by this blog but if there is anyone, I wondered if you can help me out?

With my Marvel collection complete, I've been trying to get some of the DC Figurines now. There are 5 in particular that I'm after:

Clayface
Mr Mxyzptlk & Bat-Mite
Hush
Batwoman
Batgirl (issue 95)

Does anybody know where I can find these without having to pay an outrageous price for them? I've been getting most of them from the Eaglemoss shop site but these haven't showed up in a while and I actually ordered Clayface from there 2 months ago yet it still hasn't turned up and they apparently don't know if it will be in stock again (Despite one of them telling me on the phone a few weeks ago that it WAS in stock!) so I want to see if I can buy one elsewhere and get a refund from Eaglemoss afterwards.

Any help will be appreciated guys. Stay well.
SV

Seen the news....Eaglemoss to do a Movie Related Marvel Figurine series- and not a chess set at that.
Anyone interested?...or still out there even????

Thor8 said...

Yes. Eaglemoss sent me a couple of their ads through my e-mail. I'll be given this one some thought.

That's handy never knew of this collections existence. just signed up . looks like they won't be doing The Fox movie characters so no X-Men or Spidey franchises Still the figs look great and in scale with the rather cool Fact File figs.

Thor8 said...

Just in case anyone is still out there, I wanted those whom may not have heard yet that Eaglemoss will be relaunching there DC Superheroes collection., with improved base design and paint job. I hope they do the same with their Marvel line.

Victor said...

Yes, I still come here for old times' sake. Thanks for the info. I would also say that I want some custom figures. There is someone here who agreed to make customizations to me? Try the Hellfire Club member, and characters related to the X-Men. A thank you to those who still remain here.

Funny you should mention customs Victor I just finished making a Crimson Commando, a Meggan, and a White Tiger custom. I still have to finish White Tiger's boot designs, and his amulets. I'm also in the process of making Lucifer, Whirlwind (which was one of my first projects and haven't gotten around to finishing him)and Haywire.

As for the DC re-launch Superman and Batman are just about the same, but Wonder Woman is a completely different figurine. I wish they'd do the same for Marvel's Crystal Cap A and Cap B.

I have the first 4 figs, The collection launches officially in May. The Hulk likeness ( Mark Ruffalo) looks damn impressive.I seem to remember yeaaaars ago championing a Mickey Rourke Whiplash fig as a movie tie in, Well bizzarley that may actually happen with this collection. It is indeed a funny old game.

Hey guys! It's been a long time! I haven't been on in a year or so myself, same with my actual blog. So when I was passing by my blog, I figured I'd come by and say hello. I'm now a Moderator on the Superfigurineforum so if anyone is on there at all, I'm there under the name of Venomstrike :)
I'm collecting the Marvel Movie Collection myself and have so far been mostly impressed with them all. Very pricey but absolutely worth it. I didn't bother with the Mega Hulk that they released as that was too expensive for me and don't have the room for it too.

Glad to see you're all still popping by though guys and hope you're keeping well. Good to see some regulars still around though and hope all the other regulars like Robert, LaWay, BD and many others are all okay too. Take care everyone!

Hi, SV.

And anyone else who sees this like Bagman FFF and Larry S.

I looked back and it's been nearly two years since I posted. Seeing the old names again made me nostalgic - and also reinforced the impression that my memory is going! Nice to be reminded of a few names that I had forgotten.

I'm doing fine. Interviewed Bob Layton and then went for a meal with him a few weeks ago. He's a great raconteur.

Tried to order a Fact Files from Eaglemoss and after more than two months they finally messaged me to say they didn't have it. So their customer service is as shite as it always was. Unfortunately, some things never change.

Enjoy your Christmas when it comes!

Howdy I'm also collecting the Marvel Moviie Collection. Got the Hulk figurine (not the £(90.00) giant one as it would not fit in any of my cabinets.Ditto with the upcoming Hulkbuster figures. Eaglemoss have finally stopped sending my subscripton parcels to the wrong address , which is nice. Just finished a Hulk #181 reproduction. eh the wifey passed her driving test . And Dundee Utd are equal top of the Scottish Championship. And a HO HO HO to yeez all.

Thor8 said...

Boy what A surprise to see people are still posting here. I see some familiar names like SV, Robert, Eagle, and Victor, and some new ones like Miguel Angel and Logan. I've been a bit of a recluse since my wife past away last year, but I've managed to go on. Victor, have you tried to do some customizing yourself? It's really not that difficult. You can start with something simple like I did, and then work yourself up step by step to other more complicated ones. I'm no master customizer myself, but I can't hand out the kind of money some customizers ask for there work. I'm not saying there not worth it,I'm aware it takes a great deal of time and effort (not to mention talent ) to make some of these works of art, but budget wise I'm just not up to it. My first three customization were turning Eagle moss' Punisher into his classic look, The red Angel into his blue costume, and another Angel figurine into Red Raven. I was afraid I was going to mess up, but they turned out alright. I now have 66 custom figures.

Well take care all, and I'll try to check in more often. Happy Holidays! Peace on Earth, and more importantly, peace of mind, heart and soul.

Thor8 said...

Did the Earth stop spinning, and everyone get off but myself?

Victor said...

NO, the world is still spinning ... the world is spinning. I have the complete Marvel and DC collections on the 1/21 scale. I wanted there to be more Marvel collections on the collector scale, that is 1/21 to complete even more without having to buy another house.
Marvel's current 1/14 or 1/16 Eaglemoss collections are out of context. I do not buy!
I have bought Game of Thrones, Dr. Who and Walking Dead because they are 1/21 and maybe they will fit into the new Marvel figurines. This is how I keep my dream more realistic and the world spinning ... always spinning. Thanks Thor for never giving up this space that was once of very good madness.

Thor8 said...

Glad to here from you again Victor, and most of all that you're still enjoying your figurine collections. I keep mine going customizing some figurines once in awhile. I also picked out a few Marvel chess pieces to add to my main figurine collection.

Well keep in touch Vic, and I hope we hear from some other bloggers soon.

Victor said...

Hi Thor8 and everybody, are you on this forum?
http://superfigurineforum.freeforums.net/

Thor8 and everyone else, does anyone here want to do some customs for me?

Thor8 said...

Gee Victor it would be a real honor for me to make some customs for you, but to tell the truth I'm not much of a custom maker so I've only made some for myself. As I said last time, maybe you can try making some on your own. Try something easy and simple to make. For example, if you can get a hold of a couple of Captain America figurines you can easily turn them into The Red Guardian and U S Agent by simply painting them the appropriate colors and adding a small fin on the top of Red Guardian's mask,a bigger star on his shield and on U,S. Agent you just paint him black add red and white stripes on his top torso, with a black star on the top right hand side You now have Red Guardian and U S Agent in your collection. I can tell you about other easy to make customs if you like. Take care my friend and may God Bless!

Thor8 said...

Hey Victor, It'd like to know if you read my previous comment and what do you think about my suggestion. It's not that I don't wish to make any customs for you, it's that I really don't rely on much free time these days, so I hope you don't feel like I'm brushing you off, besides it would turn out quite expensive if someone else does the customs for you unless they're from your home town. What with the expense of purchasing the figurines, shipping them to their destination, customizing expenses, then shipping cost returning them to you. If you decide to try your hand at it let me know which one you'll be doing. Take care my friend.

Victor said...

Hello Thor8! Sorry, I'm just responding to you now, but do not misjudge me. I almost do not have free time and so I still lack the courage to start doing a customization. There are many figurines I would like to have (all of the characters related to the X-Men and RED'OS of the characters in the collection). I have seen very perfect customizations that I liked to buy, even though they are not cheap. As for me starting to make mine, I'll start the next vacation, that's what I always say to myself. Then on vacation I have other things to do and the time has not come. Yes I've already decided what my first custom: Havok made to be from DC's Deadman.
But even when I start doing it, and I do not know when it's going to be, I'll never be able to do all I need, so I'm always appealing to a good customizer to get me some. The price is what one talks about, as long as the customs are well made. Thanks for your words Thor8 and thank you for still visiting this forum that reminds me of such good moments of joy and eagerness at the time when CMFC was growing and GROWING. ;)

Hey Victor how are you. Don't worry about not answering my comment right away, I'm pretty busy myself so I know how it is to be short on time. I just wanted to let you know that I'll be giving another try at posting pics of some of my customs. That way you'll get a gander at them and you can judge my work for yourself. ( Don't expect much).

Meanwhile Is there anyone else out there reading this blog besides Victor and myself?

Hi Victor, I've been trying to get some pics posted on this blog, but I've had no luck doing so. I'll have to ask my neighbor to give me a hand on this. I've ask my sons to do so, but their always "too busy" to help me on this, sheeesh! Got to confess though that even though I've made 69 customs ( some still in progress ) I have very few X-Men related customs.

Well it's been a real pleasure communicating with a fellow bogger after so long. Is anyone else still out there besides Victor and myself whom still check back on this blog once in awhile?

JOEYgrim said...

Recently got my CMFC out into a new display cabinet as they've been in storage ever since I had to stop collecting around issue 70 all them years back. They're even better than I remember!

I've spent the last month or two so far hunting down figurines that I never got to collect whilst looking through this blog, reading comments and generally enjoying that there is some form of history about this collection still online.

I'm currently up to 110 out of the 236 that I hope to collect (all aside from the exclusive variants, whilst counting double-packs as two). Great variants btw Victor!

Did anyone ever mention that full-resin replicas alongside miniature versions of the magazines were released in 2017? I've fallen for a few of these online and have been disappointed when they've come through the post. Guessing this was a last-ditch attempt to make some money before EM went under?

Late to the party but hope your paintjobs are all still intact and that Rich, Dan & the old team are doing well. A lot of good creative choices were put into this set!

Cheers, JOE
