just popping in to say hello/goodbye...

Hey bet ya thought I was gone forever?

I've been more busy than ever over the last month working on issues 8 and 10 of the Marvel Fact-Files (my first issues). Yes the secret is out - that's my destiny for the next 2 years!!!!

There are 4 of us (2 editors and 2 designers) split into 2 teams doing alternate issues to try and manage the weekly schedule. I work on the even numbered issues, but we all chip in and plan the issues together and try our best to make sure they are coherent and factually correct (not always possible on such a tight schedule!)

Like you guys, I was sceptical of it's merits in regard to the CMFC.
Having now worked on it for a month I am beginning to see how this could turn into a really nice collection. Of course it's never going to replace the CMFC, but as something to work on it's better than' Chandeliers Of The World' (I made that up btw). And it's something for Marvel fans to hopefully get in to.
The first issue has done better than expected and it seems to be a success at this early stage.
Bare in mind there are lots of new Marvel fans out that that didn't even know the CMFC existed!

I'm not a total EM drone, so I do have certain (personal) problems with it (mainly 32 pages every 2 weeks as opposed to the CMFC 16 pages, which takes a lot of work, you might say "ah but you don't have to deal with the figurines" But, I do have to commission the gate-fold cutaway artworks that grace every issue - so that takes up a shit load of time in research and communicating with the artists involved. (Just commissioned a War Machine armour cutaway and Dr. Strange's Sanctum Santorium.)
It's also very complicated trying to get your head around the way the thing comes together in the folders - every card has it's coded place in the chapters - so this can get a bit tedious. Also I thought a thicker even laminated card would be better than the thin paper, but hey who am I to stand in the way of progress :)

Here's a very, very rough idea for the Sanctum Santorium. This was scrapped in favour of a full length shot of the whole building with cutaway views of all the levels.

And here's just a detail from the War Machine cutaway...

I'm not going to turn this blog into a Fact Files advert - so don't worry I won't be updating regularly, just thought you'd like to know what's going on.

As for the competition I STILL WANT TO DO IT and I have a simple plan to execute, hopefully I will get around to it soon (imagines picture of Sonic the Hedgehog crossed arms tapping foot).

It will involve a 2 part question to be e-mailed with name and address and I will reward the first 10 with correct answers prizes beyond you wildest dreams (or a broken Crystal perhaps). I've got a box of various figurines that will be shared out amongst the luck few! PS the 10 winners will be in descending order of prizes (e.g first place gets 6 figurines, 2nd 4, 3rd 3 or whatever).

Anyway best get back to the real job. All the best for now and Make Mine Marvel!

SinisterVenom said...

I've had the calendar and the binder arrive with my first package. I too had the note about the tin plate being missing in this package and will be included in the next one. Will this mean that the following gift gets pushed back or that we get two free gifts next time, providing of course that there's nothing wrong with this free gift arriving...

After reading your comments , and judging from my own experience with Eaglemoss - it is clear to me that they couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery !!

Perhaps they should go on Dragon's den and ask for help , they could say that they have lots of ideas , but haven't got a Scooby Doo what to do with them , and how to treat their subscribers and customers etc !!

I wish that another company would take over and hire Dan , Rich , and the artists that sculpt the figurines etc , and run the business better !!

Does anyone know what's happening with the Doctor Who figurine collection ?
I haven't seen it in the shops yet.
Is this going to get cancelled too ?
All I know is that it was advertised online , and there were free gifts available to subscribers.
They also advertised that for an extra £1 per issue would get you further free subscriber gifts.
How do they become free gifts when you are actually paying for them over a period of time by paying the extra £1 ?

They've lost the plot !!

SAVE THE FIGURINE COLLECTIONS - HIRE PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING , OR LET ANOTHER COMPANY TAKE OVER !!

The Mad Thinker said...

I don't know why they didn't just put the fact files plus heroes and villains collections together.
They could've offered the large scale figurines to subscribers - one per month or so , to keep people subscribing.
A lot of people seem to subscribe for the free gifts , and then cancel once they have got them.
If the fact files offered a figurine each month or so , on a regular basis , this would probably attract more subscribers , and stop them from cancelling , because if they wanted all of the figurines , they would have to keep their subscriptions.
And if this was not profitable , they could offer a figurine once per month or so , to subscribers only , but at a price , instead of giving them as free gifts.

JUST IDEAS PEOPLE !!

Still no Skurge. Have cracked and ordered one off ebay (my wife was very understanding). Once I have it safely in my hands, I may try and cancel my EM one... though I'm far from convinced that they're going to send one.

If I end up paying for 2, so be it. Better than collecting all these years and being left with an unfinished collection!

Oh and MT, re: IM3, spoilers! Some people may not have seen it yet. For the record I enjoyed it overall but I can sympathise with the criticisms.

Mad thinker what a stupid person you are. Spoilers for Iron Man 3. Thanks a lot you idiot.

I am back from my incarceration in Russia... Just in time so it would seem.

I look forward to winning Dan's bits and bobs from his box.

The Shi devil ordered me the marvel fact files while I was away but as yeat I have not received any figures, the tin plate FF cover has not arrived

Current problems with Eaglemoss deliveries: -

1. No special armoured Batmobile
2. No tin Plate FF cover
3. Where is my Skurge special?
I received Hela but not my special ( I am a subscriber)

Anyway... alive and well and back in the UK ... I may have a mission in Mexico during the summer though :(

Deadpool ... over and out ... but I will keep checking for the competition.

Deadpool said...

Just a thought Daniel the Maniel.

How about using the forum competion to solicit new ideas for future collections?

The winner not only wins your box of private parts but also a free subscription to any collection that results from the ideas on the blog.

I've always dreamed of a My little Pony / CMFC crossover...

Bye for now ...

I am giving both The Batmobilia and the Fukt Files a stay of execution, any excuses with the next deliveries and i'm done.

The Mad Thinker said...

Hang on a minute , there's no need for the harsh comments. I'm sorry if I have spoiled things for the people who haven't yet seen Iron man 3 , but look on the bright side - at least I may have saved you some money !!

Just a heads up.

Been to Nottingham Forbidden Planet this weekend. They had a load of CMFC and DC figurines for £1.99 and 3 for 2 deals.

If you are into customizing, I imagine you can stock up on a load of figurines! Even some specials are included at around £5.99.

sed tallis said...

Ah Eaglemoss, what on earth am i to do with you?
EM produce quality collections, i am HAPPY to subscribe to, Trouble is your subscription services are hopeless. Example.
Today i cancelled my DC superhero collection, the delivery was sporadic, i have been waiting since January for them to complete ONE order. One solitary fig turned up this morning, with no documentation at all.
Automobilia also arrives no documentation, and no armoured Batmobile. C'mon a note of explanation is the least a subscriber deserves. So i had to phone to enquire, the bored operator informed me it is currently out of stock..but assured me blah, blah.
Dan me old cock, i have nothing but admiration for the creative teams behind these collections, trouble is the parts of EM that deal with customers is pretty woeful.
subscribers are getting the shitty end of the stick. what exactly is the point of subscribing??? for the free gifts that are never in stock?? or for partly completed orders that arrive with no explanatory note?.totally pissed off. used to be tingle of excitement when the brown boxes arrived every month. now i dread something being missing WITH NO EXPLANATION!!! and having to phone customer services.

It's a shame there are no Forbidden Planet stores in the Carribbean. I could possibly get the igurines I need for customization, and maybe a Man-Thing special and a Magik figurine that I need.

Banshee said...

LAWay, I'm off into Nottingham at the weekend. Who did they have in the sale? I'd love some extra's for customization. If I knew who to expect to find I could maybe plan ahead a little :)
Cheers

Thor8 said...

Wow, about ten minutes after my previous post I got myself a Magik figurine, Now if only a Man-Thing figurine would shamble my way.

LAWay said...

You're in luck Thor8 if you asked Banshee nicely! lol They had loads of Man-Things.

The majority of the figurines were from the DC collection. They must have had at least 8 boxes full of figurines. Other specials I remember were Ka-Zar and Zabu and a large DC woman in loincloths.

I remember seeing a Bleez, Jade, Dove, Arisia, Giganta Special, Antimonitor special, Swamp-Thing, Scarecrow, Captain Cold, Beast Boy, Black Lightning, Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Terrific, Batwoman, Magog, Hourman, Ravager, Mon-El, Mirror Master, Elasti-Girl, Stargirl, Mofal Man, Robot Man, Grifter, Metallo, Vixen, Wonder Girl, Kazaar and Zabu, Man-Thing, Constrictor, Gamora...

Those are the ones I remember. Some of the DC may have been the chess pieces if they have some of those characters in there.

But for £1.99 each, but 2 get 3rd free, and £5.99 specials, not a bad deal.

Thor8 said...

NO such luck LAWay, remember, I'm all the way in the Carrribbean, but I have faith that ol' Manny will end up in my waiting hands sooner or later. I just finised my own 201-220 extension plus two specials. I'll post the list of the characters in it later on,right now I have to get back to work. ADIOS!

LAWay said...

I have little sympathy for you my good man. The violin doesnt quite sound as sad in the sunshine and warmth of the caribbean. ^_^

Thor8 said...

Yes I know, besides it's difficult to hear the violins over the sounds of maracas, bongos and guitar music, plus the roaring sounds of the waves breaking at the beach shore in the background.

Banshee said...

Thanks LA, I'm off to take a look this afternoon. Sometimes it's better to pick up the DC ones because you get a completely different sculpt for customising. Thor8, I imagine p&p would be massively expensive to send all the way out to you? Plus there's always the breakage risk with it going all that way.

Thor8 said...

Thor8 said...

Yes Banshee P&H is not really worth it in my case. Hope you get some nice figurines for your customizations, and once you get some done maybe we can swamp pics of what each of us has been able to achieve. I've seen some custom figures of The Warriors Three and Ulik and The Destroyer on Ebay and have felt quite tempted in acquiring them.

Seeing what some customized figurines go for on the internet and how they sell (some not realy that well done),I can't figure out why EM did not continue to produce this series with the proper price adjustment and benifit from this huge opportunity. Maybe Marel didnot approve.

Banshee said...

Hi Thor8, I myself have not yet began to customise. It is something I've always wanted to have a go at and hopefully will with one or two of the figures I buy today. I'll keep you updated on how I get along with it.

Most of them however will be going out to customisers with skills I could only dream of. There are alot of talented guys and gals over on the forum who can do wonders.

Thor8 said...

I'll check and see what I can find in the forum and if there's someone who's talents cathes my fancy I'l consider having The Warriors Three commisioned.

Got my Skurge figure from ebay a while ago so I'm a lot more relaxed. Very glad I did though as I have not cancelled my subscription one but it still hasn't turned up. This long after the collection ending I really can't see them sending them out now, despite all the assurances I've received.

Sorry been away for far too long Victor I will get onto your chess collection when I get home on Saturday sorry for the delay.

Jacadoo said...

Oh also still no Skurge with no response from EM, I am shocked if this is the way this collection is going out.

This will leave loyal collectors at the mercy of stockists paying premium prices to complete the collection.

sed tallis said...

DP, that Ghost Rider is phenomenal, sadly subscribers have more chance of receiving that than they have of ever seeing Skurge :) ( only kidding....i hope)
The chain is what makes it even more awesome, usually these models have skanky looking weedy chains ,(like Absorbing man and the official GH)
Sincerely hope EM have not dumped all over the loyal subscribers, if they have, then get on to watchdog and publicly shame the cheap barstewards.

Hey you Marvel Fact File Fans...c'mon i know you are out there.
Just received my subscription along witha rather smart tin plate FF#1 cover replica. and a flyer for a special,A very impressive looking Wolverine fig available to subscribers for £11.99 as opposed to £12.99 in the shops?
seems odd that these "specials" are available to buy, yet ( as far as i'm aware ) the Iron Man and Spider-Man figs are subscriber only gifts. anywho Wolvie looks fantastic , Look out for him release date June 20. Wonder how many of these specials are to revealed??. it's kinda fun waiting to find out

sed tallis said...

Ehm..Hey Marvel Fact File Fans.who collects em?? CEEGEEJAY? how is yours holding up?
went to file my..files the ring binder is startig to buckle. have to move every page individually around the metal rings other wise the rings open, complete pain in the arse.this binder must weigh around 3 kilos. So tell me Dan, has anyone tested a binder when it's full? , because thats mine hooped already.

Deadpool said...

No sign of my Iron Man figure yet, but the Wolverien figure looks very good. I have also reserved a back up Wolverine with Forbidden Planet.

Tin Plat FF looks good.

Bat Moboles - I just received BAtwing but I am still awaiting the Armored Batmobile subscriber special.

Still no sign of Skurge to finish my subscription but I have one from FB, again as a back up.

The Wolvie special has convinced me to stick with the fact files.

Jacadoo said...

A sad day indeed I am sitting in London and just received a call from my wife, Skurge has arrived..

Not sure what to feel other than sadness this signifies the end of the road for my collection, yes complete in terms of editions, but completely incomplete when we consider the absentees, who never made the roster.

I guess as time ticks by without Blake taking up the mantle we will start to lose the very essence of this blog as the long termers leave.

So we never got the final competition after all and well I'm just really despondent having worried that the final special would never arrive he turns up and all I can think about is the impact to the blog.

I never thought I would see a collection like this and we may never see another again, but I echo the repeated questions why this has all ended when we see so many other collections not even achieving double figures.

I now hear the Batman car collection is falling far short of the numbers expected.

I had hoped to hear of a 2000ad collection somewhere along the line but I guess I can file that wish away with the one for at least one further extension to this collection - and I only wanted an extension of 300!!!!!!

Deadpool said...

I am considering cncelling the Batmobile collection since I am still awaiting my other free gifts.

Eaglemoss has become unreliable of late... maybe they are struggling as an organisation?

I echo the comments Of Jacadoo, but wonder why the Mossmen continue to create DC figurines in the form of the Chess sets when there is such a huge hole left in the market by the death of the CMFC.

As long as this blog exists I am happy to continue posting (as time permits and assuming I am not out of the country and off the radar).

I would like to think that others will spend a minute or two each week doing the same.

I therefore volunteer, in Dan's absence to take up the Gauntlet of running this blog .. or maybe we could vote for a more worthy candidate ...(PS vote for Deadpool as competition winner).

Finally got my subscriber version of Skurge (against my expectations I must admit!) but the axe was snapped completely off. Won't rush to fix it as I have the one I bought off ebay to ensure I didn't miss out - the axe was bent on that one as well and the straightening left it dangerously weak...but holding on at the moment!

Have seen a few listed on ebay with comments about the axe being broken - obviously a common fault.

Sad the collection ended with some obvious figures missing (and some terrible 'non classic' figures included) but glad I managed to complete it... Well except for the green Quicksilver and Grey Hulk!

Hi everyone. Every day I consult the blog but, as I do not have any news, I do not post. But I will be very interested to participate in any endeavour that allows our conversations to continue.

LAWay said...

Seen the Wolverine Fact Files figurine, looks decent. Perhaps I will check it out in a FP before buying to see how the quality stacks up.

I had a questionnaire asking what sort of free gifts the collectors of the Fact Files would like, and it did have some good sounding specials if they did indeed get some votes, such as the SHIELD Hellicarrier.

Superman movie just around the corner, then Wolverine, then Thor 2 near the end of the year I think. A movie collection or at least special should have been batted around surely?

Talking of competition, what would people actually be happy with as a prize? lol We all seem to be competitive on who should win and how the contest could be done, but what would you like as a prize that is plausible?

Me? I'd like that Hulk that was in the promo pics with the cool pose. Or maybe, if EM do it, a scaled up version of an existing figurine. I know some places have a large cast and they then do things to shrink it down, just wondering if the same process happened for the CMFC.

Anyway, enough rambling.

Thor8 said...

What would I like as a prize LAWay? I've said it before and I'll say it again any extra figurines hanging around EM Towers that are unfinished or are returned items with damages that can still be useful for customizing purposes.

Glad to know your still with us Eagle. Well Jacadoo it seems you're the last of The Warriors Three. lokks like Robert (Fandral) and Pirate (Hogun) got swallowed up by the Midgard Serpent along with BobDiamond (Balder) and Heimdall (SV) oh well at least Loki (Ted Sallis) is still around.

I really would like to post my customs Jac, it's just that I'm not too smart with computers when it comes down to these things, but I'll see what I can do. Believe me you're really not missing much.

Awesome looking Ghost rider DP. I have the same kit lying on my "to do" shelf for a couple of years now. Busy with the Thing from the same manufacturer, and I have been dragging my feet due to the horrible fit of the pieces and the hours of filling gaps. Your pics have inspired me to struggle on! If you're into kit building, you should check out the Dragon range of 1:9 statues. I have picked up a few and they look superb, even before glueing and painting the fit of the pieces and the detail look supererb.

Hi Thor8,
I'm still here! In fact I posted not so long ago- 5th June to be precise....And do I really have to be Balder?? He always struck me as a sort-of John Major of the Asgardian community...cheers!
I could be Beta Ray Bill if he's not taken...
BTW, I've been pondering this one for some time...did we ever actually get Jean Grey in the collection, or was it technically The Phoenix who took her place while she was cocooned at the bottom of the bay?
I always display the green one as her, and the variant as the actual (Dark)Phoenix- but did Jean ever wear the Phoenix costume after her resurrection?
I stopped collecting X-Men round about 1998, so I don't know...

Disney have actually created sets of X-Men, Avengers and Spider-Man Family characters that are the same scale as the CMFC, and are pretty good IMO. They have the Jim Lee-era Jean Grey in that set if anyone is interested in hunting them down on e-bay. I brought mine from an out-let store in New York a few months ago for a few dollars, but I don't think they've ever been released over here apart from the Avengers pack linked to the movie.

Anyway,
cheers for now,
Beta- Ray Bob

Hey guys, I'm still here. I've just had to do a five day spell in the hospital so haven't been on the laptop in a while. I did come home to my parcel containing the latest Fact Files issues though, along with the tin plate FF cover. I'm guessing that the Iron Man figurine has been pushed back to the fourth delivery instead of the third since we had to wait longer for the FF cover.
Wolverine does look marvellous so I'll be looking forward to having him with Iron Man and Spidey. I'd like to see more characters made in the future if they're coming in this standard. With the CMFC, I had always wished we had Captain America with his shield facing forward, Cyclops in his 90's look, Ape like Beast etc. I'm sure we won't get loads but it would still be a nice thought. If not here, then hopefully in the Marvel Chess sets. Dan if you're still with us, please take note! And also, any news on the competition soon?

Hawkeye: I've been doing the same thing of going back and picking up those figurines I decided in the past not to acquire, but that after second thoughts have decided to add to my collection. I recently purchased Dazzler, The Leader, Omega Red, Dracula, Carnage(UGH), and I have Pyro, Silver Sable, Typhoid Mary, Marvel Girl(UGH,Bleah,Yuck)and Magik heading my way at this very moment. I still can't convince myself of purchasing Drax, Domino ,Nico, Shaw, Siren or Blackheart though. Didn't buy The movie version Iron Man or Modok and Mojo specials either.

Received My order containing Skugre, Spider-Man 2099, and Wiccan. This last one has to go back. His cape has 2 broken pieces. Scurge looks phenomenal but I feel he's a bit out of Scale. He makes the Hulk look like the Grinch. Other than that he's perfect.

Just one week short of three months without an update. That's a quarter year.

Here's something that might make some of you Asgardians a little green..
My best mate in London has given me a piece of the actual hammer from a Thor movie. Not sure if it's from the new one, old one or perhaps from The Avengers, but it came from one of his mates who works on the props. It's the round piece in the centre of the top, and roughly the size a a chunky round coaster, with beautiful runes carved in a circle round the outside.
I was extremely chuffed, and now my Thor stands proudly on it as a base.
Anyone else got any odd bits of stuff they'd like to share?

I saw a film crew unloading a big pagan sun symbol from a props lorry in 1973?ish. They were filming the original Wickerman film.....that's all i've got...David Coulthard said i looked like a merchant banker. Either both or neither of these anecdotes may be interesting.
Funnily ennuf Bob just reading DHOKF #31 ? that double page opening splash featuring the White Tiger is pure gorjuss :)

Thor8 said...

Happy for you BD. That's quite a prize you got yourself there. I have a giant advertisement canvas banner for The Spider man 3 movie that my niece got for me when the movie first came out in theaters. I've never gotten around to measuring it but it is one giant poster of Spidey clinging to a a building and his reflection is that of the Black symbiote costume. Is there any way you can have that piece authenticated?

Hey Ted; I just took a loo at your blogs and The Thing Mosaic looks great The try out page also looks very good(but the guy holding the page could use a complete makeover).

Ha ha, Thanks Thor8, Man, i would give my right arm to be able to draw like that, that page is from MYU #16 by the one and only Gil Kane.
Just starting a mosaic cover recreation of JIM #89, that should keep me out of mishief for a (wee) while.
C'mon Dan , i'm still hoping against hope :)

Would love to see how that Thor mosaic turns out Sed, I hope you add it to your blog so we can all have a looksee.

Six days without anyone commenting. Doesn't seem probable that this blog will go on once the comp (if there is a comp) is over.

Thor8 said...

Re-reading my last comment,I got to thinking, maybe that's what the comp consists of. The last member still commenting on this blog gets the prize because there's nobody else around to claim it.

Can you believe the code words are DECOMPOSED and MESSfth? Is someone trying to tell me something?

Eagle said...

Thor8: I consult the blog every day and read all the posts. Unfortunately there is very little to comment upon unless we come up with a new strategy. Any ideas?

Victor said...

the same, here.

Ethan Thane Athen said...

I also look in most days but have little to say...sorry!

I'm not that interested in the new stuff, comic-wise but am still an avid collector of stuff from the seventies and eighties so happy to post about that if people are interested in discussing...

Ok, here's my stab at it:

One source of frustration is how some comics have ridiculously inflated values because they are seen as 'key issues'. Now I understand some comics having a high value due to age / condition / rarity (eg some Avengers comics around the early 100 mark had a limited print run and only exist as 'cent' issues because there wasn't a British printing, so quite simply there are fewer of them around; or some had short print runs because they weren't selling so the last few issues before cancellation are quite rare) but just being a 'key issue' should surely only add a few pounds to the value? I mean I can understand if it's a particularly 'good' issue or premieres a key new character that it'll be in more demand but the price hike can be phenomenal!

As a couple of for instances, I have an almost complete set of Defenders comics (including the 3 Marvel feature issues that started them off, plus the Giant-Size issues, Treasury edition etc) and picked them all up for relatively reasonable amounts (£12 was the most I paid and that was for #1). The only one I'm missing is #10 (Thor versus Hulk in the Avengers Defenders war). Now admittedly this is a great comic (I have a reprint) but the prices compared to eg #9 (picked up for £3) and #11 (£4) are ridiculous (ranging from £45 to £90) and of course, they don't sell...but just sit there on ebay month after month. I did see one go for about £25 but even that seems over the top.

Now you can put it down to supply and demand but, as I say, they are not selling...but just sit there at that price...annoying me!

A worse example is New Mutants #98. Now I finally completed my collection with that for £1 but it's up on ebay for £90, £150 and even £300!! There is a more reasonable one for £38 but even that is ridiculous when all other issues (incl #1) can be picked up for a quid or so. The reason? First appearance of Deadpool. Come on! £10 maybe - though outside of a limited comic fraternity he's hardly a mainstream hit. And the comic itself? Very poor - dreadful artwork by Rob Liefield who, quite simply, can't draw.

There you go, that's my stab at generating some discussion. No offence taken if others are simply not interested in this sort of thing - just thought I should try and contribute rather than just lurking...

SinisterVenom said...

I too am still here guys and checking this page every day or two. I guess we're all looking for the right post to come up to get us all talking again. We shouldn't need to feel like we need a reason really...
So yesterday was the 3 months without an update mark so who knows what's happening with the comp, if it's even still happening at all!
I'm just as bad on my blog though. I've not updated it since April when I uploaded the Carnage pic I did. I will do soon though as I've recently just done Mister Sinister so will upload that later hopefully.
Anyone going to get the new Deadpool game? Don't honestly know if it's gonna be good or bad but it's Deadpool so I'm gonna be getting it regardless...and because Mister Sinister is in that too! :)

Thor8 said...

I totally agree with you on the subject of over pricing certain comics Ethan, and it doesn't just limit itself to back issues or "key comics" it also expands into today's "everyday" books. Comic books sales are in decline, and one of the main reasons is the ridiculously high prices on comics today. I don't see how Marvel, DC and all the other comic book companies expect to draw in new readers with these prices. Starting books at #1 every 2 or 3 years isn't going to do it. Writing "MEGA HIT STORIES" one right after the other isn't going to do it either. Give the fans great stories at fair prices and maybe that will rise the comic industry back up to it's former glory.

Eagle said...

Hi guys. This is great. Lets start discussing anything, as long as we continue discussing. I will come up with something, I promise.

Ethan Thane Athen said...

Yeah Thor8, my son has just started buying comics and whilst I pick him up some great second-hand ones for a quid that he loves, he does like to buy some new ones that 'Dad hasn't got' but despite being a sad, nerdy expert on classic Marvel, I'm lost with the new stuff. Everything seems to be #1 or part of a limited series. They don't seem to understand that if you try to make everything special, then nothing is special. This is the mistake they made in the late eighties / early nineties when everything was variant covers, sealed bags with exclusive cards etc. It should be about the comic first and if it's good, it'll become a classic without the gimmicks.

Journey into Mystery has started again though, which might please you!

My latest acquisitions are some old Tomb of Dracula (#21, 35 & 36) which leaves me just one issue short of a complete set! Bizarrely these were cheaper to buy from the States, including shipping, than from this country!

As a kid I found the Dracula, Master of Kung Fu, Werewolf By Night, Conan and Doctor Strange stories a bit 'boring' and only bought them if standard superhero fare was unavailable but re-reading them as an adult, these are great. The MOKF ones especially had some seriously good writing - way beyond kid's stuff. Marvel has lost the rights to the Fu Manchu character so can't easily reprint them but, apart from the very early issues, you can pick them up very cheaply and you may have access to digital copies of them if you want to read the complete set.

There you go boys and girls, that's my recommended reading for the weekend, some MOKF. When you can snatch the pebble from my hand, then you are ready to stop reading them!

If you get the last reference, you may be interested to know the convoluted connection to the comic - the TV series it's from was initiated by Bruce Lee (though they picked a 'westerner' for the lead role). Marvel acquired the rights to that series as well as having rights to the Sax Rohmer characters from the Fu Manchu books. Ironically, despite sort of mashing them together they decided not to use a character from the tv series but created their own so they could continue it when the rights expired (d'oh, see my earlier comments on the rights to Fu Manchu). Shang Chi, in the end, owed more to Bruce Lee's character from Enter the Dragon than Kwai Chang Kaine though. Created to cash in on the Kung fu craze, these comics were nevertheless extremely well written - even with the bizarre Brynocki episodes. Enjoy!

Jacadoo said...

To be perfectly honest I moved to digital comic about three years ago, I have accumulated a huge collection Avengers, X Men, Immortals and even a complete Thor (rather pull teeth, but the early stuff is a good read). I donated my paper collection to charity and there were a number of real gems in there but they went to a good cause.

I am just reading my way through the complete micronaughts and after up comes Rom, then the ABC Warriors.

My t astes are now more towards Thanos, Galactus, Surfer etc.

Has anybody else made the move to digital?

The Mad Thinker said...

Hi everyone ( well everyone that's left anyway )

I went to see Man of steel last night at the cinema and must say , it was excellent overall.
A bit of a slow start but then a shed load of action.
I'm not a 100 % but I'm sure that I saw Ryan Reynolds on the bridge in the school bus scene , did anyone else notice ?
Lets not forget that he played the green lantern.
Was this a deliberate inclusion for us to discover ?
Anything to do with a Justice league planned movie ?
No hidden scene at the end credits by the way !!

Go and see it , it was the best Superman movie I've seen.

SinisterVenom said...

Yes indeed MT, the Man Of Steel is actually a fantastic movie. I'm not really much of a Superman fan but after watching that, I was really impressed!
Didn't see Ryan Reynolds though. I remember the scene you're talking about but I wasn't exactly looking out for anyone. I feel like I need to see it again now just to check that out!

On top of what I mentioned in my last post, I've just added a new post on my blog showing the first pic from the X-Men line of characters: Wolverine!

Good to see some fellow bloggers back btw!

The Mad Thinker said...

Hey SV , I'm not 100% about Ryan Reynolds but my nephew thought he saw him too. It makes me want to watch the movie again.

P.S - your artwork is amazing , I bet your pictures would look great in frames.

Thor8 said...

Thanks Ehtan and SV for your recent comments on this blog. It got some other members Such as Jacadoo and MT writing in again.

Not into digital yet. Guess I'm kind of old fashion when it comes to comic books. Speaking of old fashion, I find the days when a writer would just come up with a plot and give us readers a great story which would evolve into a masterpiece as the tale and sub-plots (remember those) escalated as it went on, much better than today's overrated writers who promise to give us a major development story that will change the course of comic books and after much hype end up giving us a bland story with bland characterization and 0% continuity. They'll change the course of comic books all right, by driving it off a cliff.

CGJ said...

Back from Disneyworld and have to say, not a lot to report.

Bit confused by it all as all of the Marvel Heroes stuff was in Universal's Islands of Adventure.I can't see Disney allowing that to carry on much longer as they IoA is drawing huge crowds to their Harry Potter World and with Universal developing Diagon Alley next door it's only going to get worse, so whether Disney will bring Marvel stuff to their parks I don't know.

There was no Marvel/Disney merch to speak of but I have just found this which will be released later this year, http://vinylmationkingdom.com/marvel-series-1/

The kids got into Vinylmations while we were there, so I might be pushing them in this direction next. It will give me an excuse to keep collecting something anyway.

Bought the fact Files Wolvie today too, looks good, a nice scale, hopefully they'll do more.

sed tallis said...

The Wolvie fig is excellent , looking forward to the subscriber exclusive Iron Man and Spidey figs.. I would love to squeeze 10 of them onto a cmfc plinth . Who are the 10 biggest Marvel stars? ...is Bloodstone one of them? Would love to see a Thor fig at this scale and a Hulk, and a Doc Doom and a etc,etc

Jacadoo said...

Thor got to agree with you, the current story lines never go anywhere.

Now they have de-savaged the hulk and Hulks are two a penny I yearn for an earlier age.

Marvel / Disney seem to have lost the plot with multiple story lines running for the same characters.

Now we have the X Men and Avengers forming teams - please no more, for me they are losing their respective identities.

Hey Thinker if you look at my post of about a week ago, I have also seen the Man of Steel - the scale of the battles made the avengers look a little small scale.

Up next Wolverine and..... Thor!!

Oh I wish for earlier Olympian times.

CGJ said...

Yeah, unfortunately, I can stand no more of it,I have cancelled my whole Marvel pull list at the local comic shop.

Things just ain't what they used to be

Thor8 said...

Jacadoo: Avengers has always been my favorite Marvel title along with Thor and Amazing Spider-Man, and I yearned for the day when Avengers would rise once more to be Marvel's #1 group, but I really believe that they are overdoing it. I mean we have Avengers, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, Young Avengers, Avengers Arena, Avengers Earth Mightiest and Avengers Assemble, oh yes and Pet (ugh) Avengers. As you mentioned no book is within continuity of the others and hold practically no relationship with one another. I hate this. WE have Hulk, Red Hulk, She Hulk, Red She Hulk, Hulkling, this reminds me of DC's fifties and early sixties era.

Ethan Thane Athen said...

Thor8 - I have got into digital but only as a back up to the real thing. Great way of filling gaps and ensuring you have some form of access to the stories but definitely a poor substitute for having the actual comic.

Top 3 Avengers stories of all-time, as voted by CBR bloggers?
3. The Kree/ Skrull War
2. The Korvac Saga
1....Under Siege

Agree or disagree? I had 2nd and 3rd in my top 10, but no.1 wasn't there at all! Great story though.

Thanks to the CMFC, he is getting a great intro to the comic book universe real early :):)

Another major Avengers event would be(IMO)The old order changeth from issue #16 vol.1. It was a major event that had never been done before and it took everyone by surprise.

BobDiamond said...

My personal no.1 Avengers saga was the Kang/ Grandmaster/ Squadron Sinister Epic. This also featured the first ever depiction of the Invaders. Wonderful art (Sal Buscema at his best) and story combined.
Ethan,
The amazing Avengers/ Defenders War came in at 19. It was no.8 on my list.
The Fall of Yellowjacket came in at 37. Brilliant story, but let down by the art was commonly felt.
The Celestial Madonna Saga was no.7, and my personal no.2. A brilliant intertwining of plot threads, and excellent artwork.
Thor,
Avengers 16,The Old Order Changeth was voted 33rd.
Don't feel too bad, my no.10 didn't even register in the Top 50. It was that classic team-up of the Avengers and the FF against the Hulk from FF 25/26, which continued into Avengers 5 with The Sub-Mariner teaming-up with The Hulk. I used to read that over and over as a kid. To me that WAS Marvel Comics!

Anyway, go check out the list on CBR, under 'Comics Should Be Good', it makes fun and nostalgic reading.

Cheers for now,
BD

Iron Man and Wolvie are metallic resin.

The Soda Pop manga figurine is tiny and made of resin.

The other 25mm figurines are lead alloy.

The ships are finecast-plastic.

And finally ... My limited edition Deadpool appears to be made from resin too.

Loki J Bubble is made from a large amount of fur ... he is an Egyptian Mau.

I have to concur with DP and Ted, the Iron Man figure is gorgeous. The scale really allows the detail on the sculpts to shine.

I have to admit I've put them with my CMFC display and said 'If only'

Yeah it would have cost twice as much and taken up twice as much room, but it would have been STUNNING.It might have even made Crystal interesting. (There's an argument from a bygone time!)

Man it seems as if The man has definately foresaken us. I can understand that his new responsabilities take up a lot of his time, meaning he can't post here as he used to,so it semms there will not be a comp and this blog is dead. Those whom were proposed to take up the mantle (Newman and LAway) have kind of done the Susane Richards act so there doesn't seem to be anyone left whom;s willing to carry the torch. Guess I should just hang up my hammer and say my goodbyes as well.

Jacadoo said...

Thor my friend I guess I have to agree with your sentiments regarding the blog, I honestly thought LA or Blake would take on the mantle.

Such a sad end and if indeed this is your last post my friend just leave knowing I have just about every Bowen thor statue that has been issued, along with numerous busts etc.

Really sad to see you go my friend after so many years but if your no longer around then the Olympian will also hitch up his toga and wish all the contributors to this blog the very best.

So take care my asgardian brother and take my very best with you.

Hey jac, now that you let out in the open that you own a great deal of Thor (the mightiest immortal ever) statues and bust, won't you let on that you also own a Wasp (as in Janet Van Dyne, not the insect) collection that hasno egual?

Glad you're still around also my friend, though it seems we've lost our other two comrades.

My friend my shame has boundaries the very thought of owning a wasp statue makes me feel queasy.

We most certainly did my friend. That's why I askyou to come out in the open and confess your love for the diminutive bombshell.

For those of you whom feel kind of lost concerning Jacadoo's and my comments about the Wasp, i'll just clue you in that it's just an old in-joke between my good freind and comrades in arms and myself so don't give it much thought.

Basing the next inquiry on Jacadoo's mention of Tigra; Which of Marvel's female characters do you believe you would personally find the most atractive if they existed in real life? (no you can't pick them all!)

Personally I pick Wanda Maximoff (The Scarlet Witch) hands down.

Ok gloves off time - and the rules are simple its fight night and so on.

I pick three champions and challenge THOR8 - he picks three and you get to vote who wins each contest (best out of three).

Whoever wins picks the next fight on the next blogger.

So I pick:
Zeus
Hercules
Apollo

Come on then Asgardian (its not an original game but hey its got to be fun).

Jacadoo: I don't know enough about the characters, as you guys do, but I will just follow the game.

Give me a break my friend. You call this a contest? I call it abuse. My three true champions and gladiators are (as you might have guessed)...

Odin
Thor
Loki

Please fellow bloggers try not to blink or you'll miss out on the Asgardians sure victory.

Jacadoo said...

Eagle its simple you just select who out of the match ups would win.

Odin v Zeus
Blondie v Hercules
Loki v Apollo

Just post the names of the winners and that champion gets a point.

Don't laugh out loud as I think Asgard are in for a serious beating.

Glad to see you're still around Pirate. The way I see Jacado's comp I beleive Zeus and Odin would probably end up in a tie. Thor would beat old Herc any day of the eternaty. I really don't see anything in favor of Apollo that would give him a victory over Asgard's #1 trickster and spell caster.

Okay so I'm ready to make my challenge, but before doing so let me remind whom so ever takes up the challenge must be fair in picking their candidates. Iron Man

Captain America

Thor

I have not seen any of the fact file figurines and seems I need to look to eBay.

Hey Jacadoo,if I would have known you where searching for the Colossus statue I would have offered you A Bowen Colossus mini-statue I have in store. Although the shipping cost might not make it worth your while.

Yes you lucky faux Olympian you The Avengers film will be shot (or at least in part) in London.

As for the customs some look pretty good (IMO),and others seem okay, but I can't help thinking that if collector's are willing to pay twice and even 3 times as much for one of these customs that although are nice they aren't up to EM's standards in quality and detail, wouldn't they be willing to purchase figurines made by EM with a fair price increase if they were to make a follow up series? I know I would. ood for thought people.

Jac I also search the internet for the fact files figurines but only found one (Wolverine) for sale.

Deadpool said...

Hello Jacadoo,

The current fact file figurines are Wolverien and Iron Man. Iron man was a free subscriber special.

The next figure to be released at the end of August is Doctor Doom.

The free Spider man Subscriber special is due at the end of September. I'll post an image of Doctor Doom on my blog from the fact file leaflet I've just received.

PS ... I'll put a couple of images of some of my armour.

Big Helmet ... Chainmail and Pauldrons

Jacadoo said...

Thor8 its always the way when you find one - another suddenly appears!!!

Yes I have seen the prices for customs and although I fully understand the need to complete teams and the like - I much more enjoy trying to make them myself.

Poor Dragon Man is still in pieces, I' afraid.

Hi Deadpool I was out bid for wolverine but still chasing iron man and will be adding them to my collection - soon.

Avengers movie... I hear a certain Olympian is making a guest appearance................... That is until security throw him out of Scarlet's dressing room.

New Images are now on my blog if you want to see Doctor Doom and some of my armour ..

Jac, I heard about the Olympian in Scarlet's dressing room scandal also. They say he was caught red handed trying on some of her finest skirts and gowns.

DP; I took a look at your pics and man do those figurines look cool. Wish I could get my hands on some of those. I believe that soon more of them will start showing up for auction on eBay, but I can imagine the price they'll be going for.

Jac; Going back to the subject of customs, I, like yourself prefer to make my own. I may not be great shakes at customizing, but I enjoy making them and then sitting back and admire my disasters. I have 27 of them up to date although 5 or 6 of them still need finishing touches.

I picked up the Iron Man Fact File Fig fer a fiver on fleabay.....Nice photo's DP, you obviously spend an inordinate amount of time polishing yer helmet.lovely paintings as well..am nearly half way thru the J.I.M mosaic, never again am broken.

Thor8 said...

Took a peek at your Thor mosaic Sed. What happened?

sed tallis said...

Every things cool Thor8, the mosaic is actually going really well, it has been such a slow process that i'm not sure i will attempt a cover recreation again.....although i have roughed out the Silver Surfer/Thor battle on the Rainbow Bridge of Asgard from Silver Surfer #4. cutting slivers of glass 0.5 of a millimeter thick to make the Odin sons rugged features took an age. I said never again, after completing a Spidey mosaic, the webbing had me climbing the walls :)

Thor8 said...

Cool! For a moment there I thought disaster had struck and something terrible had happened to your work of art. Wow a redemption of that classic Silver Surfer cover would really look good enough to grace the halls of Asgard's chambers itself.

Hi everybody!
First I want to heap my praises and awe-struckness on you Ted for that amazing work-in-progress Mosaic of yours. It's going to be stunning.
How many have you done now? They have all looked awesome on your site.

Anyway, I thought I'd have another attempt at some old-school game and list-making shenanigans...So, Thor8, SV, Ted, Jacadoo, DP and anyone else who's still out there, have a go at this; simply make an Alphabetic List of Wants That Will Never Be....You must use every letter obviously!

Here's mine:
Arnim Zola
Baron Von Strucker
Captain Universe
Dragon Man
Eternity
Frankenstein's Monster
Grandmaster
High Evolutionary
Immortus
Jester
Killraven
Living Mummy
Mantis
Nuke(Frank Simpson)
Omega the Unknown
Phantom Rider
Quasimodo
Red Wolf
Starhawk
Thundra
USAgent
Vanisher
White Tiger (Hector)
Xemnu
Yellow Claw
Zaran the Weapons Master

What amazed me was that it wasn't difficult to find names for even the rarer letters...just goes to show how many more classic characters are out there just waiting for Round Two of the CMFC....

Anyway, I'd love to see some of your lists guys,
Cheers for now,
BD

ADParker said...

What the heck, I'll give that a shot, and try to include none from your list either!:

Attuma
Baron Mordo
Corsair
Darkhawk
Exodus
Fandral
Gargoyle
Hogun
Infinity
Jackal
Kurse
Leech
Mantis
Night Thrasher
Ozymandias
Pip the Troll
Quicksand
Raza
Silver Samurai
Tombstone
Ulik
Volstagg
Wendigo
X-Ray
Yondu
Zarrko, the Tomorrow Man

Thor8 said...

Okay BD here's my alphabetical want to see list:

Attuma
Baron Mordo
Collector
Doctor Spectrum
Eel
Fandrall
Grey Gargoyle
Hogun
Immortus
Jackal
Karnilla
Living Laser
Mantis
Nefaria
Orka
Phantom Rider
Quicksand
Red Guardian
Starfox
Tarantulla
USAgent
Volstagg
Whirlwind
White Tiger(I don't have anyone with X)
Yondu
Zeus

I made this list without much thought or research so there might be one or two letters where I just might change a character, but I would like to see them all on my display shelves along with many others EM overlooked.

I also made a little cheat rule. If you don't have a character that starts with a certain letter you can pick another one that starts with the letter prior or after that given letter. (See my "X" pick)

BobDiamond said...

Looks like we all wanted Mantis so far...she really should have been there. Classic character, classic era- Englehart's Avengers..ahh

Nostalgic BD

Thor8 said...

Speaking of Nostalgia BD I find that the area of Classic Bad guys were greatly overlooked in this collection. I mean there were quite a few more recent or obscure characters enter in this collection over many a classic villian that should have made it in. Villians such as...

Attuma
Blasstar
Black Knight
Baron Mordo
Collector
Cobra
Destroyer
Diablo
Dragon Man
Evolutioner
Eel
Grandmaster
Graviton
Grey Gargoyle
Hate Monger
Immortus
Jackal
Jester
Karnilla
Living Laser
Melter
Mangog
Maximus
Morgan leFay
Mastermind
Mimic
Nightmare
Orka
Pluto
Princess Python
Quasimodo
Stranger
Tarantula
Thinker
Ulik
Unus
Vanisher
Whirlwind

....to be continued(I wish EM would say the same)

Okay, four and a half months since Dan's last update and three and a half months since his last post. Constant posting bloggers such as Robert, LAWay, Mad Thinker, BobDiamond and others gone with the wind, and a handful of us stuggling to keep this blog alive.

It's clear that Dan has foresaken this blog. Be it against his will or willingly we have been forgotten. So I guess it's finally time to bid you all adieu for now. I'll keep peaking into this blog once in awhile to see if it's still around, but for now I'll just take a hike to Asgard and call it a day. Wishing all of you the best, keep your figurines in a safe place and may God bless!

Thor8 signing off.

I'll play along with the new list game. It's still nice to dream!

Alistair Smythe
Baron Mordo
Crossbones
Dark Beast
Exodus
Fantomex
Grey Gargoyle
Heimdall
Immortus
Jackal
Kaine
Living Laser
Madame Web
Nimrod
Onslaught
Penance
Quicksand
Rocket Raccoon
Silver Samurai
Tombstone
US Agent
Vulcan
Whirlwind
Xorn
Yondu
Zaladane

Man that was fun yet tough.

Yeah it's a huge shame that Dan doesn't seem to be so interested with us anymore. I get that he's busy but if he really is leaving us behind, surely he can find 5 minutes spare to let us know and say his goodbyes instead of going quiet on us? All the talk about the competition that he was gonna do didn't help either and still we've heard nothing on that too! It's too bad :(

But I said before that I'll be here until the end and I stand by that. I'll still be here and I hope this won't be the end of our talks and games.

Well son of Asgard time to say our fair thee well, it's been a fantastic experiance getting to know you all on the blog, the fights the debates, the tears and the laughter.

I am proud to have collected all the figurines in this collection and for me this blog kept the dream alive.

Take care all my numerous virtual friends (even the asgardian lady boys) as I guess it's time for the one and only skirt wearing beer drinking Olympian to also take his leave.

I will take a look in from time to time, as after this many years its hard not to, so with a heavy heart it's time to sign off.

All the very best.

Bill aka Jacadoo.

Aaaaaaah! i remember this place when people would argue for weeks on end about things that mattered, Old Beetle - New Beetle, Marvel Girl -Working Girl, etc etc.
Anywho, Thor8,BD, i hope to finish the mosaic by next weekend. hope you pop on the blog again to check it out.I'm off to try and find this leaked GOTG trailer.

Just popping in to say hello... :)

LAWay said...

Wow, didnt expect a GotG teaser trailer! Never realized they had finished so much of it!

So far Iron Man 3 and Kick-Ass 2 have been disappointing on the comicbook movie front, hopefully Thor will turn that around. Can't complain too much, at least we are getting comicbook movies.

FYI after my complaint about the fact files to the ASA I had a letter back saying they would take no further action as they believed EM when they said they had no more stock of all the free gifts they promised to the first time subscribers. It was BS, and I was told by customer services that there were no free gifts ever intended to be given out because it was a test run, but the ASA didnt seem to understand that.

No news on a new marvel figurine collection which is sad, especially seeing adverts for star trek and getting emails about the batmobile collection.

Make mine marvel. :)

Marvel fact files just launched in South Africa. Will be giving this one a wide miss. Sadly only 12 issues of CMFC left for me.

Hi guys - just visiting and thought I'd let you know that I got the first Dr Who figurine this morning..... It's not bad (i.e., actually looks like Matt Smith)- they are made of resin instead of lead, but should still be a nice collection. Also got the first Star Trek ship last week - need more house space!

Ted! Seen this?????

sed tallis said...

Wow!, I had just seen mention on their Facebook page that Thor would be the next special, but that is the first image i have seen, They are twice the price of the old cmfc, but sheez! they also have double the impact.and they seem to releasing one every 2 or 3 months, so plenty of time to save, Someone on their Facebook site asked about a Hulk mega special, they got a quite positive response from EM . Cannae tell ye how excited i am at that prospect. it's the spiritual successor the cmfc in all but name, hope you folks are picking these figs up?

sed tallis said...

oh , and thanks for the heads up CGJ, much appreciated :)

LAWay said...

Wow! That Thor looks incredible!

Definitely going to pick that up! Adding Dr Doom and Wolverine to my basket as we speak. Havent seen these things in any shops.

Shame I missed out on spidey and iron man. Tempted to subscribe just to get them as they refunded me from their original text run. How long did you guys have to wait>

CGJ said...

Not had the Spidey yet. Giving it a week or so and will start chasing them up. Have just had Werewolf by Night and Gamora delivered. My previous delivery to that was in January! God knows what they are playing at.

Hi, I'm writing from Italy where the collection just has started yesterday: I want to make 2 questions:

1- Will the special numbers (like dr doom) arrive here in Italy?

2- Is possible that you will include updates when the collection will reach the end?, Marvel universe is in continuos changement, so some updates should be usefull.

Compliments for your job, it's a great collection!

sed tallis said...

Thor's done....a wee commission to do now, then another cover recreation i think. Glutten fer punishment that i am

Deadpool said...

I have all the specials so far including Spidey and Iron Man.
Wolverine was a little disappointing.
Iron Man was excellent
Spidey was pretty good, but the star of the show is Dr Doom.

I've subscribed to Star Trek and Dr Who.

The Starships are superb. I am extremely happy with them and already have issue 3.

Dr Who is excellent too, with the exception of the crappy Dr at issue 1.

Issue 2 - Davros and Issue 3 - Cyberman are better than the figurines from the CMFC and DC figurine collections.

Cya later

At some stage this blog thread will die.

Does anyone have a preference for where we post in future to stay in touch?

I wonder if there is a Mossman with the backbone to keep the threads going?

What are the thoughts of the other diehards ?

A "Weeing competition" ... that sounds a little odd Mr Sallis ...

BobDiamond said...

Couldn't help myself...yesterday I happened to be in Forbidden Planet, Southampton and just had to buy the Dr.Doom Fact Files Special. Purely of course for the amazing figurine. I told myself I wasn't going to bother with this series but that sculpt is extremely classy, with a very dynamic pose. I'm not bothered about the rest mind you, but if occasionally another one comes along as good as this I'm sure I'll succumb to temptation.
Ted, your finished mosaic is magnificent!
DP, great to hear from you again!

All the best,
BD

Deadpool said...

Hey BD, nice to hear from you too.
Just to tempt you .... Thor is next Marvel Fact files special figurine.

Who could resist.

Anyway, does anyone want to run the a blog for everyone to stay in touch, comment on The star Trek ships or the Dr Who figurines.
We could even look back nostalgically to those early days of Jabba the Slut.

My blog is open, so is Ted's, I'm sure that Law also would like to host the threads too.

We could even take turns setting a new topic every week or so.

My first one is "What has happened to Dan? Is it true he is now a lady boy working in a cabaret in Bangkok"?

Jacadoo said...

Hi Deadpool - I always look in, I can't break the habit.

Real shame we lost Thor8 and the rest of the guys but if you build it we will come.......

Blog that is aside from wee competitions that is.

So you have see Dan dancing as well - I thought my eyes were deceiving me!!!! And what he can do with a ping pong ball....

The Mad Thinker said...

Hello everyone.

I see that there's still no update and I'm guessing that the competition that Dan promised us was just bogus.

Oh well , at least there's still a few bloggers about !!

I watched the first episode of Marvels agents of S.H.I.E.L.D the other day and it looks pretty good.

Is anyone collecting the Doctor Who figurine collection ?

I subscribed and was told that Eaglemoss would send me an email to let me know when my first payment was due , but they never.
All I got was an email from them welcoming me to the collection.
Then the bastards went and took money out of my bank account without notifying me before hand.
Luckily I had the funds available other wise I would have incurred bank charges for going overdrawn.
I think others have had this problem with Eaglemoss before too.
Their customer service sucks !!

Great looking figurines though.

Eagle said...

Hi guys,
I look in everyday, just to see if there are any developments. Unfortunately nothing seems to be hapening although it is nice to know that there are other collectors also looking in.
