Skurge in inglorius colour

SLIGHT TECHNICAL HITCH!
For those who wondered why the lights went out, the account was accidently de-activated by me.
But it's back now.

phew!

I'm sure all you conspiracy theorists out there had your own ideas why it went down?

adieu.

.......................................................

Hi peops here are the Skurge paints, it's got a nice realism to it...

Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Andie Tong's Constrictor cover roughs...

We went with this one. Looking forward to the full masterpiece!

BTW here's my mock-up for Diamond Previews Catalog (I had to supply them a cover way before we actually commissioned it!) Nice piece by Ed McGuiness from official toy packaging, doesn't really work as a CMFC cover as his hand goes under the logo too much, but it was perfect for a mock-up.

I actually tried to order the hi-res art file from Marvel, but they didn't have it - I suppose it's held by the toy company (?) I would have used it for page 2...

...here's the toy packaging...
...and here's the actual google image of the inks that I coloured up for my mock -up (interesting to see it was originally drawn the other way round and they flipped it!)
Bye for now. Dan

I wish I'd discovered the blog years earlier than I did ! Sounds like you guys have had some laughs along the way. I hope EM can produce another collection that inspires similar fan interest and participation in the future. Not a bleeding chess set :P

Chuffed your package arrived safely Thor. After reading lots of horror stories I was bricking it over my Swordsman arriving knackered...and beaming when he was perfect.

I'm looking at ordering a custom glass lid for a plinth atm, 5 sided that will fit snug over the top. I want to be able to display an Avengers plinth away from the rest of the collection and have it safe(ish) as well as dust free. It may look like crap for all I know but I'm going to try one out. Probably cost about £30 shipped so not the end of the world if its not a success. I'm sure the missus would find a use for it ! Invert fill with shells or little beads...you married guys get the gist :)

I was going for 150mm deep but I would want to get Giant Man in there. Have we had an official height for him yet guys ? Dan ?

My Swordsman also came without a hitch, no bendy sword. I think thats a problem that we fear for these little things, only because if there is something wrong we will hear a complaint, while if its fine we won't usually hear anything about these sorts of details. As a subscriber receiving every figurine blindly, I have complete faith over the packing and delivery and only recall 1 instance of a damaged figurine, which EM rectified quickly.

Although I must say I dont really like the Swordsman sculpt all too much. Its decent, but like I said before, it lacks character. Compare the figurine to the front cover and it feels like 2 different personalities. A minor complaint, but still.

Sounds like a nice idea Toon, you'll have to post pictures of that when its done.

Here's hoping that Friday constitutes to the early start of the week. Dan probably meant to include 'end' to his sentence.

Hi thor8 thanks for the sentiment regarding my favourite character, I think I have safely got them all. From the silver surfer etc.

Can't wait till I get stingray to go alongside tiger shark.

Toon to be fair I thought you had been around from the very start, I am happy to say I have been around on the blog from the first week. If you can have a look back at the early blogs they were great, lots of handbag fights (mostly the resident pirate), but lots of fun.

But it makes it makes the thought of losing all my pals on here all the worse. I know the day is coming so I hope Dan gives us all the opportunity to say our goodbyes.

Mind you when he starts the new blog for the 2000ad collection we can all come back for a return to arms!!!!!!!!!

Just this morning I was thinking that when the news came out that this collection was to end with #200 we were stiil a year away from it happening. Well the months have been flying buy and the dreaded moment when I have to say goodbye to all my wonderful compadres is nearing too quickly.

Yes toon you are correct we had some wonderful moments here on this blog throughout the years. Lots of friendly disputes were sparks and fireworks would go off,but after the smoke cleared we would all laugh and come together again.

Toon I see you're an Avengers fan, well mate so am I. It was my love for everything Avengers that got me started on this collection in the first place. It really is a bummer to know characters like USAgent,Star Fox,Mantis,Sersi,Firebird,Dr.Druid, and many of The Avengers foes didn't make it into this wonderful collection. Oh well here's hoping to the future.

LAWay said...

You failed me Dan...

As Thor8 mentions, there is still nearly a year left of the collection. I thought this too looking at my recent Owl issue, still in the 180s. I think its better knowing its going to end in advance rather than at #200 a letter saying 'thanks - that's all folks!'

But a year left for the blog? When will production be officially over for you Dan and there is no more work left on the CMFC? I only ask this because I assume you will be on another project and thus can't spend time updating the blog in that situation.

If you are struggling to come up with topics, I am sure people have lots of questions to ask. Maybe have a bi-weekly Q&A, but like the first 10 questions from 10 different bloggers can be the subject of an update. Maybe explaining what a day is like, or a week, a fortnight etc, what is the process behind the scenes? I know it may not be as exciting with all the figurines done, but still.

A month without updates is like the dark days of old. I need my CMFC blog fix.

LAWay said...

lol - bloody typical!

There I was defending EM about the quality of figurines and lack of damages, and I open my Owl figurine and his upper body and cloak falls off his legs!

Time to cancel my subscription!*

Took a trip dowm memory lane to see when I posted my first comment it's dated December 1st,2008,boy how time flys when your enjoying yourself amoung friends. I saw many names that have not been seen on this blog for a long time, and was wondering if they still collect and/or read this blog. Sure would be nice to hear from them again. There are 221 members regestered on this blog,so how come we never hear from most of you guys?

If EM were to give us a new Marvel collection, would you sincerely give it a go? C'mom you 221 bloggers let your voice be heard!

Have to agree with out resident asgardian it would be great to hear from some of the old crowd!!

Well the Birmingham half marathon for me tomorrow, so nervous tension has driven me to start on my latest custom Yondu, sorry Blake just idle hands as I wanted to get going on your customs ASAP

He is taking shape already arms and legs all cut off and bow in hand ready for assembly, maybe tomorrow.

Have a great day tomorrow, Jacadoo.

Hey Jacadoo, you are our own resident superhero! :) Let us know how the marathon goes. And of course I also want to see your Yondu custom. An awesome character with quite a complex design, but I'm sure you'll create a fab version of him for your collection. Are you a fan of classic GotG in general?

Jacadoo said...

Well that's the Birmingham half done in 1:49 now onto Portsmouth for the great south run next Sunday and my four event diabetes fundraiser is complete.

Thanks for the best wishes all.

Blake I have gone for an action pose with Yondu going into battle, as your aware I used Deadman from the DC collection as my base so the poor lad had his arms and legs cut off and re pinned yesterday.

I will be working on the clay additions later today with my objective to be base coating ready for the start of paint on Tuesday, due to work commitments.

I will post him on or around Friday next week on my blog, so if Dan is a no show at the very least going into the weekend you gents can give me you valued critique.

Hi all,
Here's a little game we could play to pass the time...
Avengers Alternative Costumes.
For each of these 'B Lister' Avengers which alternative costume would you pick if you HAD to...

Wonderman
Hawkeye
Wasp
Quicksilver
Black Knight
Hercules

I picked these ones because they've all had a number of distinctive costumes over the years, and they're not the usual characters that we discuss in terms of alternative costume choices.
Just a bit of fun...

BD

Ps. I'll let someone else go first!

Thor8 said...

Well I have my right foot in a cast, and I won't be going back to work till at least November the 27th so I think I'll give BobDiamond's game a try. I'll go through the characters different costumes and then list my choices

Jacadoo said...

Bob dude wtf!!!!

Hercules a B rated avenger........

What a great start to the week!!

Thor8 my friend I hope your injury was going to the aid of a fair damsel, mind you being an asgardian was probably going to the hair dressers.........

Seriously get well soon mate, I guess you will be blogging us all to death now!!

By the way asgardian I took a trip back to the first post of my pall thor8 with your list of wants and there I was asking for a Sasquatch special, I guess my life is complete after all.

Oh by he way thank you all for the well wishes. Much obliged. I did want a vacation away from work(sans the cast).

Don't worry Jacadoo I'll try not to overdo it on the bloggging, especially if the other 221 members take heart and pitch in.

Never!!!

John thanks for the kind words, bug was a real favourite character of mine from my early comic reading days, and I had to do him to go alongside the outstanding acroyear that Ace did for me ages ago.

Yondu is really taking shape, final few additions today and into base coat and paint today.

Iron Man 3 trailer is officially online folks.

Had a crappy day today Dan, please update. :(

Jacadoo said...

Watched the iron man trailer earlier, the next film looks awesome just cant wait.

Thor8 said...

Jacadoo You are a great friend, but I just can't sit by and watch as you state that Herc is a real god, while The MIGHTY Thor is a long haired girl. After all who's the guy parading around in a miniskirt instead of armour, and hangs around with a bunch of gown wearing goons whom do nothing but play harps and eat grapes all day?!

BobDiamond said...

Wow!...I wasn't expecting to start some sort or God War scenario with my game suggestion back there, but at least it got a bit of blogging going!

Jacadoo, didn't mean to offend...luckily I changed my original wording from 'B AND C Listers' to just 'B Listers', otherwise I'd really be seeing the wrath of the Olympians descending...!

Anyway..thought I'd better have a go at my own game:

Wonderman: I love the iconic original Bad Guy costume, but my fondest memories of Mr Williams was when he was wearing the red safari jacket, and hanging out with the Beast, so I'll plump for that look.

Hawkeye: As an alternative I'd go for the little used Native American look, circa Avengers Vol 1 100.

Wasp: The Perez-styled 'disco', white, one-arm-bare costume, circa Avengers 180ish?

Quicksilver: The blue one circa Busiek and Perez's reboot.

Black Knight: Scrappy, stubbled and with the Avengers bomber-jacket from the 90s, when The Avengers was basically his book (before he got whisked off to the Ultraverse..)

Hercules: Agree with Leigh, The one with the 'H' on the belt and the army trousers.

Lastly, Thor8- sorry to hear about the injury, and I hope you make a speedy recovery- but enjoy the time off while you can!

Ciao for now,
BD

PS. Ironman 3 DOES look amazing!

Jacadoo said...

Thor8 my friend, steady with the men wearing skirts comments..... Have you seen brave heart?

You will have the clans rising here in the uk, probably led by Roberto himself!!!!!

Bob have agree wonder man man in the safari jacket was too cool for school, Hercules just looks good in anything!!!

Can't think of any way I ever want to see the wasp again, given the blog debate I once had with our resident asgardian. Mind you if you said Tigra.........

Thor8 said...

Why do I get this funny feeling that someone is trying to start a friendly brawl once more by looking down on The Wasp and Thor?

Tigra? Tigra? Hmmm! Isn't she Tony The Tiger's little sister?

My choices for BD's game are...

Wonder Man: original red and Green costume.

Wasp: The sky blue and white costume

Black Knight his modern look with the shield

Quicksilver: The dark blue and white costume

Hawkeye: Goliath costume

Hercules: The blue skirt with stars on it. OOOps,that was Wonder Woman.(honest mistake)

Thor8 said...

Jacadoo: Yes I did see braveheart(one of my favorite flicks)Didn't the men have long hair?

LAWay said...

How about as the absolute last last special...

Movie Avengers set?

(ok, I am just posting for the sake of posting...update already!!!)

tinodragon14 said...

Wonder Man in that original costume when Zemo & the Masters of Evil gave him his ion powers to defeat the Avengers.

The Wasp in her original costume with the pointy head. Since we will have Giant-Man.

I like the Black Knight figure but I would have his uncle & his great Black Knight costume he wore as part of the original Masters of Evil.

I realize there was a green version of Quicksilver that I have never seen but I would like to see him in a more dynamic pose in his early green costume.

I think the Hawkeye figure is one of the best of figures with the perfect costume choice. If you did him in his Goliath outfit he is not Hawkeye.

The Hercules figure looks fine as is though they could have had him in a more dynamic pose fists clenched ready for battle maybe holding his battle hammer.

I don't see the point , I'd rather see more figurines added to the collection than waste Eaglemoss's time with silly complaints from a minor few !!

No offence guys , but just buy some paint and do it yourselves !!

P.s : I do agree that some figurines could have been better , but don't think that changes should be made , we should be looking forward to future issues and concentrating on which characters to choose !!

I agree, the talk of redos is totally and utterly rediculous.
EM are much better off making new characters rather than attempting to redo other ones just because a couple of people don't like them, yet still bought them.
There's not a whole lot wrong with them.
Ok Iron Man may be a little small, and Crystal might not be great but who really cares? You pay £5.99 for them and the mag, you really can't expect quality like Bowen statues. For the price and scale of the figurines I've always been astounded at the quality of them. They run circles round similarly sized figs from other collections.

As for characters like Captain America, Wolverine, Doc Ock etc. What on eath are you guys on about?
Those are some of the best figs in the collection!

Well said holy wolf , it has become clear to me that some people on here have lost the plot and also have bad taste , some of the requests they make for characters to be made as future figurines suck , I tend to look for characters with a long background , the reason for this , is because the magazine is just as important as the figurine , and if they use a character with hardly any information , how could they produce a magazine too ?

Just to be clear I repeat - re-do's outside of the current running list, not as substitutes or taking places of worthwhile additions.

I also made the point AS THE COLLECTION PROGRESSES - SO HAS THE SKILL OF THE SCULPTERS AND HENSE, THE MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT IN FIGURINES.

I only make comment in comparrison in quality - Nuff Said - and don't get me started on civilians.

FUNNY COMMENTS :

You know it really is sad that some people just can't seem to respect the opinion of others and have to resort to insulting and ridicule those they don't agree with. I re-read all comments from those who mentioned re-do figurines and at no moment did I come upon anyone threatening to blow up the EM offices if their petition wasn't met.
It was just an innocent idea of which figurines they would like to see improved upon if possible.
Nobody said they "HAD" to be done or else!!!
It really rubs me the wrong way when people have to offend others just because they don't agree with them on any given subject.

Smiffy; You say "some people have bad taste , some of the requests they make for characters to be made as future figurines suck" and then refer to your fabulous list of colourful characters.
You also said;"if they use a character with hardly any information ,how could they produce a magazine too?" Yet looking at your wonderful list I can't help but wonder how in the world would you make a 16 page mag full of info with characters like; Fang, amphibius, barbarus, brainchild vertigo, raza longknife, chod, solo, spot, bulldozer and many others in your marvelous list?

I could just as easily say that most of your list "sucks" but i won't. Know why?,because you have just as much right as the rest of us to express your opinion. If other bloggers would love to see characters like Howard the Duck,Rocket Racoon,Lockjaw, whom I would gladly do without and whom I wish didn't even exist in the Marvel Universe (except Lockjaw) doesn't give me the right to say that these bloggers are ridiculous or have lousy taste. Thier wants just differ from mine that's all.
If I had a figurine for every time this has been said in this blog I'd have the complete collection three times over!

smiffy6987 said...

I apologise , I meant no offence , just making a point , and as for my list , I think you will find that some characters with less information
or background could be done as double , triple , or even four pack specials
I know that Eaglemoss asked this question before about if we would purchase multi pack specials in the future and we have already had the prof.xavier / lilandra double pack
and kazar / zabu double pack

anyway , so if you can't beat them , why not join them ?

re-do's ?

here's my list then , just to stop you lot moaning at me !!

ice man - more colour , add dark trousers

doctor octopus - add more colour

kang - add more feature like a cape

ultron - add more colour

yellow jacket - get rid of wasp being as we are getting a seperate wasp figurine

human torch - add partial clothing showing the 4 logo

crystal - complete re-model

abomination - change base to standard black marvel base

doctor doom - new pose

rogue - change to the sculpt that was on the forum in the competition

well hope that pleases some !!

Thats quite funny smiffy :) I like your list.. although you forgot to add:

Green Goblin - fingers too fat

Punisher - face too long

blah blah blah

Its only when you take the micky does it show how daft some peoples comments are.

The human torch is an excellent figure. It must have been a particularly tricky figure to do.

I know some folk think they actually work for EM or are actually gods or sailors or something... but writing 20 comments every week don't make you our representatives.

My 'anti-re-does' comment was placed mearly to balance the views in case Richard actually thought everyone really liked the idea.

and please Rich dont waste important Mega Special spots on size changers

Okay enough of size changers. Awhile back Bill9000 ask us what do we think about Disney acquiring Marvel,to which only jimbob made a brief comment. So i raise the inquiry once more. What do you think of this move by marvel are you pro or con on this?

I just hope they don't mess up characterazation and that we won't be seeing double packs of Odin and Goofy or Terrax and Mickey, or worst of all Lockjaw and Pluto or Howard the Duck and Donald!

I think the take over of Marvel by Disney to be positive - Disney are all about premium brand and developing creativity - they already own Pixar, so with the Marvel franchise I can only see good things.

If you look on the numerous web-sites most of the Chief Executives are all childhood fans (I will try and re-locate an article I read a number of weeks ago and paste later).

Mr Smith Eaglemoss and Marvel are two separate entities!!

Mind you the new owners may well look kindly on the collection and encourage EM to expand....

Jacadoodledoo: So entities are actually creatures? is that something you read in a marvel comic?

Smiffy, perhaps Jacodumpling was trying to explain that Marvel is a completely separate company to Eaglemoss. In this case the only risk to the continuation of our collection is if Disney want to either cancel or change the licensing conditions beyond what has already been agreed and signed. Disney have to accept all contract in place (the current license agreement that allows EM to replicate Marvel characters). Question is how far is that license is in effect for (number of figurines) and have the EM boys heard anything that Disney may want to review renewable agreements / contracts???

Chances are we EM will come in under the radar and not even peak Disneys interest about such things as license fees and contractual changes.

Anyone from EM have a comment?

Mr Sallis has made another fantastic suggestion!! a Capcom collection would be awsome. as for Star Wars, the other collection was so poo I didn't bother getting it and I am a huge fan. Now listen carefully EM "you will make a fortune if you produce a Star Wars collection to the same standard as marvel and you could have the vehicles as special editions." to me Star Wars is the only thing better than Marvel (ducks to avoid things thrown at me) sorry I just love Star Wars. I think the next collection EM will do however is likely to be Disney characters or Harry Potter which I personally have zero interest in

I would however love a Formula 1 collection with drivers and cars, with greats like Senna, Stewart, Moss, Prost, Hill, Fangio, Shumacher...etc...etc

Might not be everybodys cup of tea but I would be very very very very very very happy with it.

The spaceship would have to be the size of my cabinet.

MY FIRST ARGUMENT ON THIS BLOG :

I don’t know what I wrote at this time to upset Robert , but this was to be the start of many arguments to follow !!

Robert said...
Just read your latest rude and arrogant post, smiffy, and as usual you are talking nonsense.

Firstly, I buy all types of figures and acknowledged in my last post how difficult a job Rich and the team have keeping everyone happy. Yes, I have been specifically asking for Asgardians but then so have several posters... mighty marvel and spidey 1979 to name two if memory serves.

You don't want Asgardians, justifying your own extensive list with the words: "Why I chose those characters? Because they are popular and have more of a background than characters from a small group."

Characters like the Warriors Three have appeared regularly in Thor for over forty years, racking up hundreds of appearances!

And one of your suggestions? Big Bertha.

Words fail me, they really do.

Reading some of those older posts was fun, one of the reasons I enjoy the blog (as well as the forum)is that on the blog, peoples opinions are considered and then shot to pieces if thats how you feel.... On the forum that kind of disrespect was frowned upon to the point I sometimes struggled to post at all for fear of upsetting other users or the admins with my honest opinions.

Blog = freedom to be a prat if you want. I respect everyones ideas, wants/likes, however I wont sit in silence if I disagree.

Strong Guy SUCKS ;)

Eaglemoss supply update.

I bought some DC figurines for a friend in the US mid August, Banes slipcase and mag arrived but no figurine. Emailed customer support 24th August and received a reply the same day (which was great) promising to send me the missing copy of Bane within 3 weeks.

7th October I wrote again asking where he was ? Reply came on the 9th October advising another request had been made. 25th October and still no sign of him. He is STILL showing as in stock on the website.

I just wanted to have some fun while things were quiet.
When someone mentioned that they'd gone back to see when they had first joined the blog , or first posted a comment on here , I thought that I'd do the same.
It took me ages to plough through all of those updates from Rich and Dan.
I remember being around long before my first post , but I was just a silent entity back then.
I bet that Robert wishes that I still was a silent entity lol.
Rumour has it , that he is planning on murdering me with a box of Kellogg's crunchy nut.
I've heard of cereal killers , but that's ridiculous !!
Apparently his ritual is to take out the free toy from the cereal box before killing his victims and keep it as a trophy !!

Laway :

I think a lot of us have changed our minds about this collection over the years.
I certainly have !!
Characters that I used to slag off and not want have now become my ultimate wish list.
Take Lockjaw for example - I used to say who the hell wants a stupid giant dog in the collection ?
Now I'd practically get down on my hands and knees and beg like a dog for one !!
I really want to complete the Inhumans line up.
I was also against re-do's but as the figurines have got better and better in quality , some of the older ones look rather poor in comparison.

Anyway , I'm off now to unwrap my latest ten DC figurines and place them in my display cabinet.
I've been buying back issues to catch up , and my display is starting to come together nicely.
I don't think it will ever look as good as my Marvel display , but pretty cool all the same.
I'll put some update pictures on my blog page for you all to see later today.

Bye folks !!

The Mad Thinker said...

Ok folks , the pictures are now up on my blog page.
Click on my name - The Mad Thinker , then go on Dave's Blog to see the latest photos of my Marvel and DC display cabinets.
I hope that you like them and that they may give you some ideas when making your own displays.

Here's a tip for you , and a way to save money :

Instead of paying out lots of money on buying perspex display steps , plinths , and bridges etc - just go to your nearest £pound shop and buy some plastic food containers and baskets etc.
Then you can make the step effect in your cabinets or on your shelves.
You are able to see each figurine more clearly now and can also fit more in.
I try and keep the larger characters ( specials ) towards the back on the higher shelves.

Anyway , I hope this all helps.

You know when I mentioned my trip down memory lane on this blog,I didn't think for one moment that so many would follow in my footsteps.

Jacadoo: I had been wondering for awhile why EM didn't add a few more Olympians in this collection such as Pluto and Zeus, but after seeing how GREAT Hela and Skurge turned out,I guess They must have thought that adding a couple of guys in night gowns was just to big a step backwards!

Awww, still no update. Hey Dan, how about some behind the scenes pics of the figurines being manufactured. i for one have always wondered about the "hand painted" advertising. Have had many heated discussions with friends who insist that it must be done by machines, but with that detail I reckon I have to be right. Would love to see the production line. Also something I have always wondered about, what kind of numbers are produced of each figurine? Are we talking 100's, 1000's? Just a thought, use it, dont use it.

Hey Jacadoo
Your version of Yondu is impressive. Great job with the character's complex design. It's the first time I see a custom of Yondu in a dynamic action pose, and that makes it an even more unique sculpt.
Heimdall is awesome too. He's had so many costumes over the years, but I'm glad you went for that version of his helmet. Which images have you used for visual reference? Great stuff. In my opinion, Heimdall should have been the next Asgardian in the CMFC.

Jacadoo said...

Hi Blake thanks for the comments, Yondu was murder to not only to pose but to get balanced so he does not tip forward, real shame the image does not show the torso detail of the dead an figurine.

Hemdall was a combination of two versions, Padam kind enough to leave the final choice to me, I remember his surprise at my selection of bane as the base figurine, I'm sure he thought I has lost my mind. I will email you the images I used.

I'm in Portsmouth tonight having spent te day going round HMS Victory, what a fantastic day but exhausted now and it's freezing!!!

Well I will have to run that much faster tomorrow to get warm.

Anyway I have a real cool pose in mind for your bug custom,it's going to mean arms legs all coming off a real step away from the feet on base usual format - how's that for a clue?

Thor8 said...

Glad to see you post again Blake. I was wondering where you had drifted off to. Took a look at your virtual gallery once more to freshen up my memory of all the great characters that could have, but were not added to this collection. It's funny but when I start to make a list in my mind of the characters I would like to have seen in this collection, only 30 or 40 come to mind, but when I take a gander at your gallery I find 100+ that I would have loved to have seen produced. Now all I can do is hope EM does a new series similiar to this one with new characters in it,or just like my Olypian loving friend Jacadoo make my own. So far I have done Classic Punisher,Red Raven,Jack Frost,Justice,Human Torch(Jim Hammond),and I'm trying to finish up Phantom Rider and Power Princess. Don't really like how that last one is turning out so I just might scrap her and start anew. I'm wating to receive some duplicates I ordered so I can start working on Hyperion and Doc Spectrum.

Jacadoo wish me luck! I just got my license as a transplant surgeon in the mail today and will start to ampute and transplant some linbs very soon. I hope to make make you proud.

Thor8 your a surgeon after my own heart, one thing if your going into the serial dismemberment game to get good stability you will need to drill and pin. Just make sure the adhesive you use has a higher temperature level than the clay additions when you need to bake them.

Dead pool if these are the last two, sorry I'm not too broken hearted as I slowly grew disheartened wi the seeming high levels of character repetitions, the only saving grave for me was to receive the blue devil.

I have not ordered the Star Trek collection as I don't have any room to display them, they look really nice but hopefully I can make up with miss ing this one with subscribing to the 2000ad collection when it makes an appearance.

Robert said...

Eagle, the collection was usually divided into five "families": Avengers, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men and Marvel Knights.

NOW that we have Spidey as an Avenger, Wolverine's on every team except the NY Jets, Uncanny Avengers, etc. those definitions don't really help any more.

You could just sort it into two categories like I do: classic (good) and modern (bad). ;)

sed tallis said...

After nearly 7 years my display is nearly complete, I split it into two very distinct classes. Plinth A..and Plinth B.
Check my shit.

Thor8 said...

Eagle: It's really not that simple to classify this collection by families or teams due to the same reason Robert mentioned. Too many heroes and villains are or have been members on various teams The Beast has been an Avenger,an X-Man,a Defender.Hulk has been a Defender an Avenger.Namor has been an Avenger,a Defender,an X-Man,an Invader,Sandman has been in the Sinister Six,The Outlaws,The Avengers, and so on and so on. You can either just place certain characters with the group you most identify him with,or buy multiples and plce him or her in each group they have been in(I bet EM just loves that second option).

Eagle said...

My thanks for your replies. I understand that many characters have been a part of several groups but, when they first appeared, they were part of an original group. As I do not have several figures of the same character, I thought that I could divide the figures according to their original affiliations. Is that possible?

Thor8 said...

Well I'd say yes and no. For example you place Doctor Strange along Namor and Hulk for their original grouping of the Defenders, but then you won't have Namor for The original grouping of The Invaders or Hulk for The original grouping of The Avengers. See what I was reffering to in my previous post?

I started grouping them as Avengers/Fantastic 4 - X-men - Spiderman.

Then more and more figurines got added, and they got more spaced out, or crammed together.

So now the better looking figures stay at the front and I try to hide the munters to the back. ;)

Since I've been AWOL for a while, any chance some of you die hard CMFC blog-alots could tell me if The Mossmen have anounced any other collections other than Star Trek ships?

My top choices for new collections would be: -

CMFC ... large scale.
(did anyone manage to get that big spidey figure?)

The Hobbit at the CMFC scale in resin.(The Batman chess figures are very good in resin)

2000AD - Judges etc...

Star Wars at CMFC scale

Indy Comics figurine collection - BRPD - Hell Boy, Mechanica etc, Shi..etc (if Wizards of the coast can do an Indy collection in Heroclix then Em should be able to in resin.

On last question for Dan...
Why didn't the Mossmen capitalise on the success of the Avengers movie with a mini series of Avengers special figurines?
(This was a missed opportunity in my opinion).

Cya around guys... I'm back in Russia in November and then in Africa in December and January ... so I'll be AWOL again for a while.

PS the Shi-Devil wants me to give her regards to the "Wierdo's on that Stupid blog" ...ouch.. ;O)

Yule-tide greetings .. to one and all if I don't manage to get time to post another message before then ..

The mossmen announced a Marvel NOW collection in the scale of warhammer that will have a limited run that will feature gaming scenarios and small figurines and will map out events that link with the comics.

The larger scale Marvel figures may make a return with a once a month format.

DC have announced a new Snakes & Ladders edition of figurines.

And I think they mentioned a pig flying.

UPDATE DAN!!! COME ON!!!

Thor8 said...

I believe the reason Dan has not posted is because he has such great news for us that he's trying to find the right words to express it.It will probably knock us all into the middle of next year.C'mon Dan you can do it. Let us know what is comming our way.

LAWay: where do you get your info on future EM projects? Those of us on this side of the pond would like to know.

Victor: What was the purpose of your extensive post other than mentioning the first apperance of many of marvel's characters?

Victor said...

Thor8: to answer Eagle and show how I classify, by families of heroes and villains, all the 200 figures.
Sorry if I was too extensive...

Eagle said...

Victor: Thank you very much for the work you had in posting the info that I had asked for. I am very grateful.

Thor8 said...

No need to apologize Victor I was just curious as to why it was done. That was quite a project you put together there amigo.

Victor said...

I have this list in doc if anyone want it. I have this list in doc, if anyone is interested I can send by email.
In the document the characters' names are in bold, and the colors correspond to decades of origin.
The classification is not linear, eg: "Morbius the Living Vampire" is an enemy of Spider-man but stands out more as a horror character. etc.

LAWay said...

Special insider secret Thor8. Theres a bazillion things we are actually not telling and sending to the US, we are keeping the good stuff to ourselves.

In all seriousness for a moment, if anyone is living around the New York area where that tropical storm is taking place, I hope you are all safe and the storm fizzles out very quickly.

Thor8 said...

Thanks LAWay,though I'm not in the USA,I'm in the Carribean. In the tropical Island Of Puerto Rico(that's Richport in English)

Funny planet we live in. I'm on a tropical island with nice warm weather, while up north NY is being asualted by a tropical storm and Jacadoo mentioned it's freezing over on your side. Hope everyone is AOK/

The Mad Thinker said...

Laway :

Yeah , that storm looks bad and I've just found out that my second cousin is out there in America at the moment.

I hope everyone will be safe.

The movie - The day after tomorrow springs to mind !!

One storm mixing with another = Not good !!

I too pass on my best wishes to those in America. I hope you all are safe and will stay that way.
If anyone has not yet heard, Crossbones has been confirmed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, being played by Frank Grillo (not a name I'm familiar with if I'm honest). This news makes me even more sad over the fact we never got him as a figurine. I always saw him as a major villain, especially in Cap's universe so I guess he'll go with the other Marvel movie characters we never got as figurines amongst the likes of Whiplash, The Warriors Three, Heimdall, Arnim Zola, Jigsaw etc...

Never cared for Crossbones much. Where did you see a mention of him as the villain SV? I knew the title & how Bucky returns but had not read about the villain.

This long without anything from Dan just reminds me of how sad the end of this collection. I'm still angry with EM for ending it. They should have gone to at least 250.

I'm still amazed that truly classic characters like The Warriors Three, Attuma, Baron Mordo, The Cobra & Mr. Hyde, Stilt-Man, Titanium Man, Blizzard, The Living Laser, Lockjaw, Heimdall, DRAGONMAN, The Melter, The Unicorn, Diablo, The Red Ghost, The Mad Thinker, Star-Hawk, Yondu, Air-Walker, Molten Man, Tombstone, Jackal, Mr. Fear, The Scarecrow, Jack O'Lantern, Nightmare, The High Evolutionary, Dr. Faustus, Arnim Zola, Molecule Man, Frankenstein's Monster, Mastermind, The Vanisher, Arcade, Silver Samurai, The Living Monolith will never be made.

I've just heard that there is going to be a STAR WARS episode VII movie , and that Disney will be behind it.

A Star Wars figurine collection in the same scale as the Marvel and DC figurines would be a good idea moss men !!

Disney has bought Pixar & Marvel & now Lucasfilm which includes Industrial Light & Magic & Skywalker Sound. Disnefication continues. George Lucas had already marketed the life out of Star Wars & now he turns over the carcass to Disney for over 4 billion.
I guess Disney will remove the Dark Side from the movies since JJJ cannot smoke a cigar & a cross cannot be used against Dracula.
