Dracula, Blob and Sauron

Hello everyone,

Once again, sorry for the lack of recent updates.

First news I have for you today is about the Blob special. Due to be released on 10th Feb, we’ve now finalised the material to be used for the figurine.

We looked at a number of possibilities including:

• Solid lead, which produced figurines that were too heavy and costly. We also found that our bags that hold the magazines broke easily with these figures in.

• A hollowed-out lead figurine, which was a bit of a disaster with the figurine easily snapping in the middle during safety testing.

• Pure polyresin, which solved all the problems, but mindful of wanting the product to have a little more weight we decided against this.

• A polyresin figure with a lead powder injection/core. This produced a brilliant figure with more detail than the lead could manage and still had a nice weight to it.

As you can guess, we went with the last option and have a mix of material.

This has by no means cheapened the product and in fact the production cost for Blob is the same as all our mega specials. My reason for mentioning this is that I know a few people question the motives for producing these figures and I want to say that as far as I’m concerned, we have not taken this step to make more money but to guarantee the Blob, in all his glory, could be part of this collection. A solid lead Blob, even at a slightly reduced size would not have been feasible.

Right, moving on to some previews, I have some early shots of the Dracula and Sauron sculpts.

With Sauron we’ve gone for a pose from his first ever appearance, while Dracula is in a classic vampire pose.

Hope you like both.

Have a great weekend.

What's wrong with you people. All you do is bitch and whine, comment on how bad Rich and EM handle this collection. If you feel this collection is poorly organised or making the wrong choices, then it's simple....stop collecting.

I for one would like to come on this blog and feel positivity and love for the collection, otherwise EM are just gonna think 'Screw this' and end it.

I know it's not everyone and I'm not wanting to start yet another arguement but I for one would like to congratulate Rich and EM on this amazing collection and long may it continue. You guys are doing a great job :)

Peace Out!!!!

Maybe the DC subset is part of the licensing agreement they have and is out of EM's control for a Marvel one.
Marvel have a seperate blog and yet DC do not. (unless I missed something).
I very much doubt the two companies have signed up with the same terms and conditions even though they deliver similar goods.

I agree with Banshee that the negativilty of old is returning here. Lively debate? Depends which side of the fence you're on I guess.

Myself, I'm liking the more dynamic poses. Sauron, for example, based on that early sculpt we've seen, appears a lot more menacing than just standing there having a cup of tea and a bun. The series has evolved and I think that seeing more dynamic poses is great. But I know there's people who dislike it.
Also interesting. The Abomination had a different base which was pilloried, but over in the DC collection Deadman had an 'enhanced' base for a regular and I've seen not a single comment about that!

ok, i totally agree. what the dc collection and em are doing is great. I love the idea, i love that collectors are getting more figurines faster, and that epic comic titles and characters are getting more figurines made.

What I am saying comes out of pure jealousy. With the marvel collection being older, I would have expected to see something like this tested out here, especially after all the requests. And the free figurine thing, while frustrating, I under its something marvel collectors may experience themselves when something similar comes out for us.

SO yes, what I said was negative, but it was out of frustration and pure jealousy. I dont think Rich and EM are doing a bad job, they are doing great. I am just impatient, and just would like to here that news of a subset is on the cards for marvel. even if other details are not announced, it would just be nice knowing something bright and fresh is coming up on the horizons.

As for the sculpts, still stand by it. If the 'special' is tall, then I want a tall imposing figurine, not a hunching one that gets lost in a line-up. If all figurines are going to be 'dynamic' now, then it takes away this idea that only specials have a dynamic pose, and thus a hunching, crouching special is no longer special.

Barnabas said...

I certainly can see your point there. I guess the hight will partially be offset if he is on a bigger base. If that is the case, Sauron should still be taller than most. Hopefully we'll get to see him posed against a regular character.

My (controversal) subset.
Aunt May
Uncle Ben
Gwen
MJ Watson
Cpt Stacey
Flash Thompson
Robbie Robertson
Betty Brant
Liz Allen
SPECIAL
Glory Grant

Let's hear it for a Spidey Civilian set.

My word verivication speaks volumes 'begag'

since the announcement that thundra would have to be a special i've been searching for reference pictures of her because i don't really know the character and i didn't just want to dismiss the idea straight away. however, the more pictures i see of her the more confused i get that she has been deemed special sized. she doesn't seem that bulky, certainly not apocalypse, thanos or hulk bulky who have been the cheapest specials so far, and i have even found pictures that show her as roughly the same size as she-hulk and only just bigger than valkyrie. i can't help the feeling that she would be a distinctly underwhelming special if she were to be done and i do see the case for introducing a 'large regular' price point of £6.99 for tall characters who do not require the bulk of, for example, the hulk or extras like wings. hopefully this 'large regular' price point is something EM can look into.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Inbetweeners like Thundra would look just peachy done on the scale of a reg DC fig, just slightly bigger than the equivilant Marvel fig. I ate a big red candle

Thor8 said...

Banshee; If I sounded negative to you by expressing my opinion I truly apologize.I believe EM in general is doing one heck of a good job and have graced us with one heck of a dream come true collection, but that doesn't take away or prohibits us from expressing our opinion on a matter, especially when EM themselves have asked us for our opinion. Just because we don't agree with evry decision made by EM or like every figurine done, doesn't mean we're negative or are putting this collection and it's creators down.

Now on a totally different subject; When will we see the order in which the last approved extension will be done in?

Hi guys, off topic, any idea what i would have to mix together to get the skin colour of Beta Ray Bill, just to do some touch ups, any advice would be great

Cheers

Im paying lots of attention to the raging debate over specials.... I personally wonder why Thundra would be considered a special. I guess the character is important to alot of people but not to me...but then i'd probably vote for a Ms Marvel/SheThing/Sharon Ventura sculpt and no one else would.....

Seriously though I'm still really hanging out for Swordsman and Mantis - I'm looking forward to how the sculptors tackle her grass skirt! And of course Northstar and Aurora as Snowbird's getting lonely on my shelf.... a couple more of my wants list if anyone wants to get behind these....

Avengers - Nebula, Starfox, Yellowjacket II,

X-men - Goblin Queen, Selene,

Alpha Flight - Shaman and Marrina

New Mutants - Magma

Defenders - Gargoyle, Cloud

For specials how about - Power Pack?

Giant-Man (Hank Pym)14

Special poll is looking very interesting.Surprise that Terrax is
doing so well.

LAWay said...

See, those specials make sense to me, I'd take them all over Thundra as a special. Not saying I wouldnt want her, but no special. Heck, want these more over high evolutionary, and sauron, especially after seeing him.

Maybe my expectations for 'specials' is too much. :(

Banshee, with deepest respect, I seem to remember the forum definition of "negative" was not agreeing with the status quo. Would we become automatically "positive" if we agreed with you?

I used to put this down broadly to the poor education system in the UK in the last twenty or thirty years or so, where the "burn the witch" ethos is strong and the art of debate has been stifled.

EM work for us, and within the usual boundaries of taste and decency I'll give my opinion regardless of how negative some, who have unilaterally set themselves up as the judge and jury on such matters, may think.

I praise and I criticise as I see fit. If I were EM I would prefer that to the asinine, sterilised idiocy you find in some corners of the web.

Nice new specials poll BTW. Will there be yet another if the X characters don't do well, or do I risk being labelled negative by asking how long this perpetual jerrymandering will continue?

Glad to se some new additions in the main site without having to wait forever for it having been done. I hope this is a sign that the main site will be up dated more freguently.

I hope we'll be seeing a new post this Friday with some updated news on new projects in this collection.

Rick why not do something new and daring; TCMFC's first multi-pack presents....TA-DA,The Warios Three!

Thor8 said...

Whoops, sorry about that I got so exited with my own idea that I mispelled it, I meant to say (drum roll please) TA-DA, THE WARRIORS THREE! Ther, that's beter.

BobDiamond said...

Let's jazz things up a bit with a new game....Think of the most obscure character that you'd love to see in the collection- someone who maybe had only one or two appearances...

My vote goes to...Hitman, from a classic Ross Andru Spidey story, guest-starring The Punisher.
This guy was very cool, and the story is one of those iconic childhood memories. Great costume and a very memorable bad-guy. As far as I know they've never resurrected him, but I could be wrong....

PS... Robert...you OK mate? On holiday perhaps? Hope all is well.

PS... is it me, or does that Blob figure remind you of Ben Stiller at the end of Dodgeball, when he's blimped-out and singing 'my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard....'!?!

LAWay said...

I dislike you game BD, as thats exactly what I dont want to see in this collection...even more obscure characters! lol

Ok EM....Marvel Vs Capcom figurines boxsets? Yes please. :)

Character with only one or two appearances? Well, she's had a couple.. but they were two different models. It would be Nanny, Magneto's robot servant.

Also, EM doesn't work for us. They provide a product. They are not employed by us. The old "Customers Are Always Right" nugget is no more true today than when it first was flung around. It's a collectibles line, not Burger King. You don't get it your way right away and Eaglemoss now.

As for the Specials poll... why would you think there won't be more if X-Characters don't win? Just because they do well on polls doesn't mean a thing. It just means that a lot of people want them. There's no funny business going on. Leave it to the banned individual make unfounded claims. And X-Characters are doing well in the poll. But part of the reason for that is that there's quite a few major X-Characters who require Specials. But as an X-Fan, I welcome a lot of the Top 10 who are non-X-aligned. Bring 'em on. Except for Giant Man, we already had Pym in the collection.

LAWay said...

No, EM doesnt work for us, but the collection only continues to exist because we are buying the product. If we stopped buying the collection would stop.

If we protested with our wallets, EM would either take more notice, or the collection would collapse. So to save many disappointed customers, it is in EM's best interest to listen to its customers and do as much as they can to keep them happy and spending.

I mean, what company doesnt listen to customers? Again, you are talking nonsense man.

Thor8 said...

I agree with LAWay about companies listening to there customers, that's why surveys and polls are done,it may not always be the best of reliable sources, but if conducted correctly it gives the manfacturer an idea of what the public wants. What I mean by "IF CONDUCTED CORRECTLY" is that it depends where and by whom the survey or poll is done. We all know that The Forum besides the fact that it's a site that supplies us with lots of info,is X-Men crazy, and do to this fact you can always expect x-related characters to come out on top in their polls. This doesn't mean that the majority of the collectors prefer X-related characters, but rather that the majority of the forum members do,and if you don't agree with them you get insulted, branded as negative and ignorant by many of the herd. I can think of many non x-specials that would get a better rating if the pol was done somewhere else. Oh and I for one would more than welcome a Gint-Man special.

Anonymous said...

Where? Fantasy Land?

Cause X-Characters come out on top of pretty much any poll ran anywhere in the collectibles realm. Happened for the Marvel Legends polls. Happened for the Marvel Universe polls. Happened for the Super Hero Squad polls. Considering the books were the core sellers of the Marvel Books for decades, there's tons of fans of the characters. Just because you're not one doesn't mean the results are inaccurate.

Thor8 said...

Get the kinks out of your fur beast,I never said I wasn't an X-Man fan. My collection happens to go all the way to issue #1,and I'm refering to the original series not the one that came along afterwards. I've known Charles Xavier ever since he had blond hair.

As for all those polls you mentioned. Where and by whom were they conducted? I don't happen to live in fantasy land, but here in the carribean,Spider-Man,Iron Man,Thor,Hulk, and The Avengers would beat The X-Men by a landslide.

mgf said...

"Also, EM doesn't work for us. They provide a product. They are not employed by us. The old "Customers Are Always Right" nugget is no more true today than when it first was flung around."

Dear Lord. What is the point of debating with you? I mean, seriously, what is the point if you cannot grasp even that simple concept without thinking I mean we pay their health insurance package? I'm going to be nice and assume you wrote that to appear deliberately obtuse.

No, we don't pay their National Insurance, but we buy the product and if we didn't the people now working on the CMFC would be on Fluffy Bunny's Woodland Friends or out the door.

Is that simple enough?

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Waitaminnit!!! you mean by subscribing to the DC/CMF collections i am actively delaying the release of the "Fluffy Bunny & his woodland friends collection"?
Sorry Rich you can expect my resignation letter in the morning.
xmas 2009, i was doing my online tesco groceries shop, at the book a delivery slot i noticed they had bumped their delivery prices up to around £6.50 -£7.00, Not very seasonal i thought and expressed this view in an email, Next day customer services were on the phone, assuring me that Tesco were not taking advantage at this very busy time of year., and the following weeks new year delivery charges were being reduced to i think it was about £2.50 - £3.00
One of the biggest companies on the planet felt it wise to pay attention to one little customers opinion.
I'm pretty sure Beasts customer service model would have Tesco out of business within the year

LAWay said...

I think the main problem with the forum is that not everyone on the forum is a collector.

I dont mean a 'collector' in the sense of how many figurines they buy. I mean many dont buy ANY figurines, full stop. They like Marvel, they join marvel forums, and like clicking buttons to vote.

This applies to all online polls. You hear about them, and you give your 2 cents. You may not care about the poll, but you still vote. And being able to open multiple accounts, delete cookies or use different computers, you can add multiple votes and fix things.

So online polls are not really reliable. But since there is no other way for EM to gather views, its the only thing they can go by, and they should at least listen to what they are saying.

jimbob said...

EM is aware of all this.

If you been on here or the forum long enough, you can almost tell on a multiple account in some cases.

The forum does catch out alot of people.

And EM does listen, there have been alot of suggestions from the forum EM has added.

The only mistake EM has made is when the forum convinced them on doing Destroyer, what a waste of a special slot.

LAWay said...

Oh, no denying that EM listen to us. They have answered our questions and there have been many important polls.

This probably went on longer than it needed to because CBR Beast said EM didnt need to listen to its customers.

I agree the Destroyer special was awful. Not just as an idea, but as a figurine, a sculpt, a base, its the ugliest things they have done.

Anyway, here's hoping for a lovely update today so we have something nice to talk about.

Maybe I shouldn't had said that,I now run the risk of being flayed by angry worshipers for mouthy such blasphemy. Anyway Rich I once suggested that other EM members fill in for you when the going is to rough to go,just like Dan The Man used to do once in awhile.

SinisterVenom said...

Don't worry Thor8, I totally agree with you. When I first joined, this blog used to be updated every friday without fail, sometimes missing out the odd one week but the next week would make up for that. Where as now, we're lucky to get one a month and when we do, we do get an apology about the delay of updates, only to get another delay of updates.
Now I don't moan much but you surely you have to agree, and you may have noticed that when we don't get updates for so long, people bring up a topic on here that causes many arguments and disagreements and that didn't happen when I joined the blog. It used to be a friendly blog where we could all share our views without any insults or whatever being thrown at each other and we'd have a new topic or new figure each week to talk about.
So point being, we all know how busy you are Rich, but we would really appreciate it if you could update every so often to stop us all attacking each other or whatever. I mean even if it's a quick update to show us a figure like Destiny or Tigershark for example, just something to keep us all happy and friendly, I'm gonna be honest, whenever I see an argument kicking off, it makes me feel uncomfortable and I don't usually post for a while but I felt I had to post this.
PS, thanks for accepting my xbox add Ted, I had noticed you playing X-Men. was it worth purchasing the microsoft points for the download?
PPS, I've also added you Leigh, so be sure to accept me when you're next online. It's EidolonBahamut. I do hope to see a lot of you when MVC3 comes out :)

I noticed you were in training for the upcoming release of MvC3 by playing Final Fantasy, while i was studying the deadly moves of Virtua Tennis 2009, I'm pretty sure we will be top the MvC3 world leaderboards ;0
Xmen is fun ( old school button bashing)i thought it was worth 800 points and i learned who Nimrod was, i'm an xmen zealot now :)
Less than a fortnight to go!!!!!

SinisterVenom said...

I know, I can hardly wait!! Not a day has gone by these last few months where I havn't checked the MVC3 site for new info. :)
Yeah as some of you may know I'm a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series and I figured I'd play it to keep me busy until MVC3 comes out, the game certainly has enough in it to take up your time :)
As for Nimrod, I only really know him from a few episodes in the X-Men Animated Series and I think I may have fought him in a game before but can't think which one or if I definately have. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I recall correctly, Nimrod is an advanced form of the Sentinel from Cable and Bishop's timeline in the future? It has been a while since I watched it so I could be wrong on some detail.
SV

SinisterVenom said...

Oh man! After doing some more research on Nimrod, I had no idea he and Master Mold merged to become Bastion. I knew of Bastion yeah but didn't know he started out as these two beings. Yeesh, and I call myself a Marvel fan and X-fan, I should be ashamed of myself for not knowing that lol ;)

US Agent is an actual alternate costume for Cap, which is cool.

Maybe we can only last a week or two before we stop getting along. The updates used to be weekly though!? Damn. Perhaps they just dont have much to say any more...too busy counting their money from gullible subscribers rather than listening to what they want. :P

Oh yeh, I went there. ;)

jimbob said...

I just thought we don't have so many updates because they will run out of figs to show us?????

Also didn't think there was a contract for EM to do weekly updates?

I want US agent, don't want the same pose as Captain America tho.

SinisterVenom said...

I want US Agent too, I'd like him to have his shield facing the front this time though. I have no problems with Cap's sculpt but it would be nice to see his shield without having to pick him up off my display shelf and turn him around. That is all. :)
SV

jimbob said...

Yes,the shield should be facing forward!

And I think that we don't like side pose as well!

So no more side poses and specials that crouch too low.

Glad to hear you agree with me SV, I also agree with you on the fact that this used to be a much friendlier blog than it is now. Maybe that's the reason why so many bloggers have disappeared from this site. There may have been an argument now and then but it never got out of proportions and those involved were always man or woman enough to accept their faults and apologize. I remember when jacadoo and I went on forever on the subject of whether or not The Wasp deserved to get her own figurine or not,we argued, debated, and exposed our reasons, all with respect and dignity. We may have even called one another names once in awhile, but it was all done tongue in cheek and we ended up becoming very good mates over the blog. Heck he even became one of my Warriors Three. I could say the same of Pirate Adam,Ted Sallis and others. Maybe if we go back to defending our points of view with respect and an open mind those who have left this blog will return.

Here's another cool villain from the past with a great costume- Locust.
A character from an early X-Men comic, when they still had their original costumes. I think he may have turned-up since, but I don't know where. Anyone?

SinisterVenom said...

Ah, now normally I know nothing of some of the characters you guys mentioned but I do in fact have 2 comics with Locust in! :)
The first one I have is from X-Factor #52, it was one of the first comics I was given, originally it belonged to my dad and I was only Baby SV being 1 or 2 at the time so wouldn't have been able to read yet lol.
But the more recent one was The Order #4 in 2002. He didn't really do anything massive though, he was beaten fairly easily by Hulk, Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange and the Sub-Mariner.

Obscure characters we'd like to see? Make mine "The Human Fly" - not the Spidey villain but the stuntman - OK, OK I know I'm likely to be in a minority of one here, but I loved the 19 issues they did back in the day (still trying to find them all) and I'd like him in the collection.

Funny you should mention The Human Fly Hawkeye, cause I just recently Bought an old issue of his mag for 50p at my LCS. Issue 2, guest-starring Ghost Rider in fact.
I agree, he would make a cool figure- excellent costume particularly.

Another one from me would be The Ghost- not the Thunderbolt character (but he would be amazing anyway), but the old one-off villain created by Mephisto in the original Silver Surfer comic. Another eye-catching costume design.

Got both a Marvel & a DC subby pack today, unexpected goodness, joy unbound.

Marvel;

Blob, massive, perhaps too much so, but decent enough sculpt. Stood him next to Galactus until I can make a space for him. Should not have.

Radioactive Man, superb, no luminousity noticable yet, but a great addition.

Silver Sable, another cookie cutter Marvel female with a gun. Dull all day. Big Barda next in the DC ollection. Compare & contrast.

DC;

Despite this not really being the place to discuss them, both Steel & Deadman are utterly magnificent.

Perfect in every way. A complete triumph.

BLOB SPECIAL: MY REVIEW.

1. Too big. Unnecessarily so. Horribly so. In my opinion, the line of reasoning behind the size choice (officially explained on this blog a while ago) was not sound. It should have been a normal special, just slightly bigger than Kingpin.

2. Too expensive. In fact hugely overpriced, in my opinion. I don't understand why it should cost so much. I only bought it to support the CMFC, but it's my most forceful and unhappy purchase.

3. Too clinical. There is something cold and industrial about this resin sculpt. In my opinion, it lacks the warmth and charm of the other figurines. It almost looks like it's not part of the CMFC.

Sorry, folks.

I can only hope that by supporting EM and Blob fans with this purchase, I too will get to see characters that I love made into CMFC specials.

RADIOACTIVE MAN: MY REVIEW

1. Excellent sculpt for size, detail and paint work. It beautifully captures the character. Looks fab next to Crimson Dynamo.

2. In my opinion, there is a minor design flaw in the star on his chest. The upward arm of the star does not look like part of the costume. It looks like a tattoo. It should have been embossed, like the rest of the costume, instead of being painted flat on the chest.

3. Glow-in-the-dark. Excellent gimmick. It does glow. You need to leave him exposed to light for a while. It will charge up and become fluorescent.

All in all, a very good figurine.

MARVEL-DC COMPARISONS
I buy both collections. DC gave us an amazing series of figures, one after the other: Deadman, Steel, Big Barda and Azrael are totally awesome, on the same level as
the much praised Annihilus and Beta Ray Bill.

CONSISTENT HIGH QUALITY
As things stand, DC seems intent on delivering exquisite figurines consistently one after the other.
I hope they'll continue like this.

RATIONALE FOR £6.99 CMFC
OK, DC figures cost an extra £1.
I support the idea for EM to price CMFC figurines at £6.99, when necessary to do those Marvel characters with complex design which deserve highly detailed and more elaborate sculpts. I'd rather pay £6.99 than see them made into a basic sculpt that does not do justice 100%. This could work well: keep £5.99 but fdo £6.99 every now and then to ensure that more complex characters can make it into the collection.

Blob doesn't dwarf the other megas. You don't measure from the top of the arms. And regardless he's perfectly in scale with the collection. A regular special wouldn't do the character justice. He's 8'0" and 976 Lbs. He hasn't been regular special size for ages, even during the 80's he was larger than that. EM made the right call by making him in the Mega Special range. At least this way he stand out properly amongst the other members of the Brotherhood/Freedom Force.

Not going to make many friends with the following comments but here goes....

1. Blob - Excellent

2. £6.99? No way!... although would give me just cause to finally stop collecting something that has gone on far too long. How much shelf space have people got!!! My figurines are going to end up in storage except my favouite dozen or so.

3. Radioactive man - looks great... but not exactly a top of the pile character

3. Silver Sable - looks boring... and again not exactly top of the pile character

4. I think EM seriously need to think about putting an end date to this collection. And then start a new collection called 'Not so classic marvel collection' as that is exactly what it is becoming. The specials and mega specials are the only figures I particularly care about any more (thank god they have been more frequent just lately).

I know most of the regulars who appear on this blog will disagree with me, but I'd be interested in a survey about this, rather than which unknown Avengers villain will appear next.

Surely this collection needs to end, just so collectors not only have a choice to continue or not, but also a new series (Classic Marvel Figurine Collection 2) would allow a few requested characters to be re-done, re-posed, new costumes, and lesser known characters commissioned.

Sorry guys but this collection is getting stale, I miss the anticipation of getting the A-Listers... and now... we have them all. How miserable is your life if you can get excited in receiving Silver Sable for god's sake!

Then EM can put the price up!

Well said ghost.

Next extension, please make the collection end. We are not getting consistent 'classic' characters. We get a lot of fillers and old characters, but not important characters. Thats what it should be about.

Put an end date on it.
Start a new.
The Modern Marvel Collection. Include alternate costumes, Ultimates series, the manga, movie, game versions.

But I agree. We get too many figurines, most dont deserve shelf space, and what with the sculpt quality inconsistent, lets end it. Start a new with a Marvel £6.99 price tag with sculpts to match the DC line.

If people dont like it, they wont collect. I am sure you will keep many collectors and add many more. Of course, you know the numbers and how popular the series is.

See? Update day...no update, arguments happen. There is a storm brewing...get the update up quick to sweep this under the rug!

Exactly one month from this update come Monday and it will be Valentines Day.

Are EM holding out for some sort of love based update?

I have to ask why would you want to force the collection to stop. If you don't want so many figures then don't by them. I intend on collecting until the collection stops whether it be at 180 or 5000. If it gets to the point where I cannot display all my figs then either I will put some into storage or sell some I don't want (F4 and SpiderMan).
Personally I think we are getting to some of the really cool characters now that the obvious characters are all done.
And as for a possible £6.99 tag...I am surprised it hasn't been done before. I will still collecting though as it's only £2 extra a month....I just won't give any money to those African kids.

There's literally tons of "classic" characters left with tons of appearances to make their way into the collection. It would be silly to stop and relaunch. Better idea would be to simply start dedicating 1-2 slots per expansion for resculpts. Such as Ape Beast, Classic Mystique, X-Men Dazzler, Classic Captain Britain, etc. etc. etc. Would give a shot in the arm sales wise, when those are solicited.

It's a shame 2-Packs arn't more feasible. They would be perfect for resculpts. Pairing 2 resculpts together in a nice box would be great. Or even a resculpt and a new character who is tied to them.

Resculpt Pairings:
Wonder Man (Safari Jacket) & Ape Beast.
Mystique (White Dress) & Rogue (90's Jim Lee)
Cyclops (80's Costume) & Jean Grey (Marvel Girl Dress)

Resculpt & New Character:
Cable (Modern) & Hope Summers

I agree with you Beast, two packs of rescult A listers would be an attractive prospect.. but not in this collection.

I also (no disrespect intended) disagree with you regarding lots of 'classic' characters left. Ask someone, who is not a major Marvel fan, who Cannon is, and they look at you like your anorack is zipped up too tight.

Its not silly to stop the collection (except maybe for EM), I have a son who would kill me if I stopped after collecting over 160 of them! It just gives people an option when they don't want an incomplete collection.

I think a new collection to include Zombie versions, alternative costumes etc would be of interest to most fans of the collection, and also allow new collectors to start. If I saw a collection at number 143 I would not try to start collecting because of the cost, it would surely scare a lot of folk away. So a new one at issue 1 would be a lure.

I'd also liked to have collected the DC figures, but could not afford both at the same time. And as time goes by that collection also looks increasingly difficult to jump aboard.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it's obvious not everyone will agree with you Ghost that the collection should end, it's just what you believe is right. However there are many including myself that feels this collection can still go on for a little while longer. Not everyone will see eye to eye on this.
I mean there are still some popular characters on the way like Blackheart, Hydro-Man, JJJ, Sif, Odin, Dracula, Puppet Master just to name a few. And then there are many who have yet to make it: the rest of Alpha Flight, MODOK, Longshot, US Agent, Jigsaw, Grey Gargoyle etc etc...
I havn't run out of room yet but if it ever did come to that, I would simply make more room. Get some shelves, maybe a new cabinet, the possibilities are endless!
Anyway moving on, it would be nice to have an update soon before we all fall out again :( Please Rich, take notice of us and make us all happy again :)
