Forum Poll Details

Hello,

As you all know we're almost ready to start the forum poll, which will help us choose 3 characters for the recent extension.

The poll will start on 9th August and will last until midnight BST on August 31st.

To vote you must go on to the forum, register and actually make a post:

http://www.superherofigurineforum.com

The vote will be a free vote, no lists or categories.
Each member will list 5 characters in their vote.
It will be a Blind Vote. (members will not see who or what has been voted
for until poll closes).

The top three characters will make the extension.

When voting it's important to remember to vote for characters not costumes (this can be sorted out later). And to remember that characters over about 6' 6" or really bulky can not be made regular figures and would be specials.

One of the reason the forum runs these polls is that are very good at stopping cheats and will make sure that everyone casts just one vote. Something I can not do on here.

To make sure there are no complaints about mods tipping results at the end with their votes, the mods and admins will cast their votes before the start of the poll and send me.

All the rules for the poll can be found on the forum and the guys there are willing to help out.

Right, on to today's peeks.

Below are Toad and Balder.

Have a good weekend.

A partwork Marvel diorama could be fantastic. It would probably have to run as a companion collection rather than part of the CMFC.
People pay stupid money to purchase guff like " build our solar system" in 70 issues at £6.99each.
So i'm sure a truly epic Marvel themed diorama would sell like burgers at a comic convention :)

Bob,

Thanks for your suggestions for the remaining five villains. Loki was one I considered because of the obvious Thor link. The same with Red Skull because of Cap America.
One of your others does through up a problem I had with the heroes. You mentioned Mephisto who is obviously closely associated with Doctor Strange. I couldn't maake up my mind if he needed to be one of the ten? If he is, who do I drop?
All of the heroes I picked have an strong link with Stan as they were from the early days and he came up with a lot of the ideas for them.
The one that isn't so much an Stan creation is Wolverine. Should he get pulled to make way for Doc Strange? The problem is not only is Wolvie going to be expected to be part of it, he represents The X-Men and that group does need to be represented, like The Thing represents the FF.

SPIDERMAN

Aunt May

X-MEN inc. alpha flight

Arcade, Black Tom Cassidy, Mastermind (not sure if he's coming or not) Unus the Untouchable

AVENGERS inc. asgard (12)

Jarvis, Zodiac (all 12 members)

MARVEL KNIGHTS inc. cosmics (12)

The Stranger (not sure if he comes under cosmic or not)

The Defenders

Gargoyle

Others

Immortus, Pharaoh Rama-Tut, The Beyonder,

BobDiamond said...

Rabid Womble,
I've always thought of Mephisto as being The Silver Surfer's arch-foe, because of his introduction in SS's first, classic series.
If you still want to replace Wolverine with Dr. Strange (not a bad idea...), then you could also include Dormammu, and perhaps take out The Leader!
(I enjoy these hypothetical problems! Beats gardening in the rain any day...)

A few more 'must-haves' for the list guys...
Either in AVENGERS + or MARVEL KNIGHTS +

Arnim Zola

Scourge of the Underworld (the original, from Captain America)

Nuke (as in DD's 'Born Again')

Hyperion

Executioner

Ghost

BD

Rabid Womble said...

Bob,

You're right. I always get Mephisto and Dormammu mixed up. It's my age, lol

So as it stands we have Stan in the middle and

Heroes

Spiderman, Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Namor, Daredevil, The Thing, Wolverine, Silver Surfer.

Villains

Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, The Green Goblin, Magneto, The Kingpin.
Loki, Red Skull, The Mandarin, Dormammu and Mephisto.

It's looking good but I do like the idea of Doctor Strange in the place of Wolverine as Strange is an Lee, creation. That leaves us with an dilemma. Now The X-Men aren't represented. They are via Magneto but not as an group and creation themselves.
Question is which one gets bumped for an X-man and which X-Man and which one? Logic says it has to be Cyclops, Angel or Iceman as they are the more memorable than Marvel Girl and an non-furry Beast.

I think it's between Namor and Daredevil but they both have merit why they should be in the collection. Of the two I think Namor scrapes himself a save.
Why can't there be more numbers on a dart board? lol

It's been like a trip down memory lane reading the lists, guys, so thanks.

I think that's a good 400 characters if you factor in the 177 we already have confirmed. Considering only a handful of people have added names, we could easily pass 500.

I, for one, would buy the majority of them.

If I live that long.

John said...

Is it really pushing it to make more Marvel characters than Star Trek? Trekkies love Star Trek, but I think there are more Marvel fans willing to purchase lead figurines, and there are more characters to choose from when making the figs. If Star Trek made 300, Marvel should easily get there.

As for a tribute to Stan, make it from his favorite characters. If it's really designed to be presented to him, then you have to include the entire Fantastic Four. With villains, I'd add in Sandman. He seemed like the most recurring character in the first issues.

I should stay out of Robert's game, because I love so many of the weaker characters, I'm not sure what would be a good answer or not... ;) And honestly, I don't apologize from my D-List love. I just really want a Kangaroo figurine.

BobDiamond said...

John, If I'm allowed The Enforcers(!) and The Sons of The Tiger, and Rabid Womble gets the entire Zodiac cartel, then I think you are more than entitled to The Kangaroo!! :)

Bring on those kooky, but lovable D-listers!

BD

Robert said...

Some would say we are already seeing D-listers, John, so bring it on! I wouldn't exclude anyone's tastes, whether I agree or not. I mean, CBR Beast listed the Hypno Hustler, for crying out loud! I remember when that comic came out and thinking that the writing was on the wall for Marvel if they were so bankrupt of ideas!

As for the Kangaroo, are you interested in the original or modern incarnation? Even though the original was a bit lame and an appalling stereotype I kind of liked him, although the Harrow guy who created him was much creepier.

So, feel free to list some "D-listers", John. I'd love to see the Recorder one day and I'm sure he's a D-lister or worse for some collectors.

P.S. The dartboard is a really interesting and novel idea, but we throw darts at Stan? I mean, I would rather put my hand in a piece of industrial machinery.

Or spend time in the company of Katie Price.

John,

It's not whether Star Trek made 300 and Marvel could make more. It's the fact that it got to a point where it was decided that the Fact Files needed to finish. Of course we don't know what the reasons for that was. The obvious two have to be either that sales started to drop or they realised that the material was starting to get harder to source and not have it look as if the things are being stretched out to squeeze every last drop out of people.

There will eventually hit the same point with this collection when either sales will drop as the releases are getting more and more obscure or people look at the collection and think can they continue to justify the cost indefinately?

Also one of the things that I think make people eventually start to think about whether they want to continue is something that I don't think has been mentioned yet....space.
Even if you're not one of the collectors that keep them in their packaging for value and do put them around the room either with or without the plinths you do at some point start thinking where can i put them next? They've filled two shelves and now they are on a third. Where can I move this stuff to that was on that shelf?
Do I really want an third and fourth shelf filled with these things when I don't actually know/like/want most of the ones being released now?

They're no different to DVDs. You like films so you buy them, then another and another. Wow 3 for £10 I'll get a bunch. Before you know it your room house is starting to look like Blockbusters or HMV.

I used to buy the stand/plinth to put these on but found I was running out of places. Now they are all on shelves together. I can get about 70 on a shelve where as I could only get 2 stands so 20 figures on the shelf.

IMO space is an major factor on any of these kind of fortnightly magazines or collections and how long it takes before people start to stop buying them.

As I have way too much time on my hands I thought of a way it may be possible to create an slightly larger collection even if the figures were only half the size they are now.

I've never played the game so don't know much about it, but these D&D and WOW role playing games things. Don't they have small figurines that you can use in the games?

If EM were to launch an line of smaller figurines for that kind of market whilst using the magazines for the rules for playing the game they've devised based on the whole roleplaying thing as well as tips and strategies etc in theory it would open up avenues for various lesser known charcters to be released because each one would bring something new and different to the games that are played. They wouldn't so much be random filler material that are released because they would look cool in an collection.

I'm not sure if as an idea it would work or not though.

Noooooo!! The idea of the dartboard was just an aid to represent my idea an circle base which is then sectioned off with an person at each point. Not an actual dartboard lol

Robert said...

Sorry, rabid womble. Have to admit I didn't read the post carefully.

Anyway, watched the brilliant The Big Bang Theory tonight. There was a burglary at Sheldon and Leonard's flat, and the tv, games consoles, etc. were stolen. Sheldon then suddenly ran into his bedroom. He emerged, relieved, and said, "It's okay: they didn't steal my comicbooks!"

You should have seen the look I got off my wife. Back me up here, guys, our comics are infinitely more important than an electronic doohickey, however large and fancy, right?

LAWay said...

Lots of hate for the ending at 200 idea. lol Surprise. Very nasty comments. :P

No one seemed to read that I only wanted that if EM then moved on to redoing the marvel heavy hitters, so either way, I'm still on board collecting Marvel. I just dont need to wait for another 150 issues there 50 genuine good D listers are hidden between waves of Z listers that Bob Diamond mentioned.

Not everyone will get their wishlists completed. This isnt 'Jim'll fix it'. While 1 person may want Captain Crunch, 50,000 other collectors may not.

Sure, the collection can keep going for a very long time. I dont mind, but EM has stated that characters are limited by their appearences and material, so not everyone out of the 1000's of characters are do-able.

And its ironic that I can say I want the collection to end at 200 so that it can start afresh redoing old characters in new costumes and poses, essentially, continuing the collection but revisiting previous characters. I say this and its bad. If you even mention redos, people threaten to quit collecting altogether. Who is really negative there eh? :P

Simple solution to keep everyone happy and balance the books? Throw in characters that do not have enough material with a character that has already been done with a different costume, that comes with a 'filler' type magazine that fills in what that costume means for that character and marvel's history. Iron Spiderman thrown in with 3D Man? I would buy it.

Rocket Raccoon thrown in with Hulkbuster Iron Man. Hellz yeah.

Classic Doc Ock with Aunt May. Yes, I will buy an Aunt May figurine if the big characters are redone.

Thats commitment folks!

Rabid Womble said...

LaWay

I don't think that its bad about you wanting some redone after 200. I think the problem may actually be it's too soon. The point you made about the 150 issues is kind of right in the time frame.

IMO if EM wanted too or were to do some re-releases it would be better to wait. Usually these kind of things end and then about 2 years later they get re-released from issue number one again.

This would be the perfect time to do the new costumes and poses. If you look back at one of Rich's earlier posts about the size of The Blob he mentioned when they were first starting they didn't know how viable the range was, what size to make the figures, how much was an good RRP etc.

Now they've released this collection they do have information. So if they were to relaunch the range again about 2 years after this one ends then they can correct things such as the size of The Hulk, put them in alternative poses and costumes etc.
Not every character would need doing obviously so they wouldn't be paying out for new sculptures for every release.

Equally when they start again they could drop a couple of the lesser characters and bring in some new ones. These dropped ones could always get added to the collection at the end if the demand is there for their re-issue.

Robert said...

I'm confused, Leigh. Is this tongue in cheek? I don't recall anything other than gentle but firm disagreement, certainly nothing nasty...

I used to collect the Heroclix game figurines (had cut them of their game bases and glued them on a small acryl base) just because (1) they have the largest collection of different Marvel characters as far as I know (including an unnecessary lot of redos for a figurine collector) and (2) because of their smallness (about a third of a CMFC figurine). When I finally discovered the CMFC (spring 2009) I decided to go for the CMFC because of the detail and quality of the figurines. Heroclix have some fine art but because of their smallness also a lot of miserable sculpted or cast figurines.

Ok guys I'm gonna be honest with ya, I have just got back from a great night out with my mates and on the way back I was thinking about characters that could be made into figurines and the amount I thought of could well go beyond 230 so let's not talk about this collection coming to an end because we all know we don't want that yet (I know I don't anyway).
Also, a message to Grim Reaper (Woo, that's the next figure I'm getting! Really looking forward to him. Ahem, anyway) after the end of August when the voting has finished, will you be displaying the results of the characters people have chosen and how many votes they got? You don't need to say who voted for them. Just wanted to know how well other characters did, that's all.

I should also note that I'm not taking part in Robert's game as pretty much all of my choices have already been mentioned so I won't waste time in echoing them in one of my posts.
Though I did see that episode of Big Bang Theory you were referring to Robert. That is my favourite program at the moment, and have the first two series on DVD, I will be getting the third when it's released. My particular favourite part was when Sheldon crawled outside his window and got to Leonards window just as he and Penny were about to get frisky shall we say ;)
Definately a program I would recommend to everybody on here. If you havn't watched The Big Bang Theory yet, do it because you are missing out.

Jothagraz,

I understand completely what you are saying about the quality of some of the sculpturing when it comes to the minitures. When i've seen some in shops they've looked a bit ropey.
I only came up with the idea as it does allow a wider selection to used and many are justified for their release as they bring something to a game, where as usually figurines are just decorative pieces.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Pharoah Rama Tut before me. You need jim and Immortus too so you have all the versions of Kang.
Even Julie Garland knew about how important the various Kangs were.
In the film Meet me in St Louis she start singing a song with the words,

"Kang, Kang, Kang's off his trolley!"

Being an 'old-school' Avengers fan, this would be a brilliant addition. (not too bothered about Iron-Lad however...)

Also, I also WANT a Super-Adaptoid Mega-Special, to remind me of the cover of the first (British Reprint) Avengers comic I owned. An Amazing scene featuring a huge group of Avengers fighting a colossal Super-Adaptoid.

Also, have Count Nafaria and Graviton been added to Robert's wish-list?

Hi Robert!
I assume you're talking about The Avengers issue with The Super-Adaptoid, and not The Marvel-Team-up issue with The Sons Of The Tiger, which is where my lovely new 'avatar' comes from...(can you see that by the way?)

Either way, they are both truly Excellent Classics!

BD

PS. Word Verification is spaingoa, sounds like a nice place for a holiday...
Does someone get paid for making these things up?!

Robert said...

Bob, I was referring to your avatar, which shows a part of the cover of MTU #40. MTU #40 was my first US original. Unusually for me, I lost it soon after getting it and then the next month bought MTU #41 (first part of a cracking time story) and FF #166 (FF vs Hulk!); both dated Jan 1976, if memory serves. I actually forgot all about #40 until I saw it years later and remembered it. For years I had assumed MTU #41 was my first US Marvel comic and it was really my second. Both were drawn by Sal so it's all good!

Can't recall the Super-Adaptoid story you mentioned off the top of my head. I assume it was in Mighty World of Marvel? I was generally limited to only one comic a week so I was seldom able to get MWOM. I only really became an Avengers fan when they started reprinting Avengers stories in Super-Spider-Man. The first story was the excellent Sentinel story, c. #110-112 in the US editions. It made me an instant fan of the Assemblers!

BobDiamond said...

Wow, Robert...so you're saying your first 'taste' of American Marvel was a comic with The legendary Sons of The Tiger!? That's quite weird, huh?

That Avengers story was from the British reprint called just 'The Avengers'. It was the third comic Marvel released after 'Spiderman Comics Weekly' and 'Mighty World of Marvel', and the first with a glossy cover! It co-starred Iron-Fist alternating with Shang-Chi, as well as Dr. Strange.
Because the whole Kung-Fu craze was at it's height then, Shang-Chi and Iron-Fist dominated the cover space most weeks, despite the title of the comic!
'The Avengers' was my first delivered-through-the-post weekly Marvel comic (My brother and I were allowed one comic/ magazine each...I think he had 'Look and Learn'.The rest we had to buy from pocket-money.)

Ah...reminiscing again...Now you can see where my love for both Avengers AND crazy Kung-Fu stuff comes from!

BobDiamond said...

What's that you say Spammy?

Your first American comic-book was also an issue of Marvel Team-Up? Issue 31, with Spidey and Iron-Fist fighting Drom The Backwards Man?
That is quite a coincidence, and a very weird issue at that...

Leigh, I've got a suggestion for a sketch. Sort of.

A few days back we were talking about poses for characters in the new extension. I had suggested Captain Marvel standing with arms aloft, clanging his golden wristlets together.

What if folk suggest other poses for a different character from the extension and you draw the one you like best or one that proves popular? Well, guys, what about it?

Robert said...

Seems as if my idea has impressed the square root of hee-haw, Leigh. Sometimes democracy just doesn't work!

And I was pretty certain that Deadpool would come on asking for Shanna. No doubt in some slightly sleazy situation, like washing Zabu and getting suds down the front of her "costume"...

Oh, well, what about a drawing of Sif holding a plackard that reads: "Come back, Thor8!".

I know he caused some ripples, but I'd also like to see Ted back, too.
Place is quiet without these guys.

Ted, it's page 3 of Thor (Vol.1) #336 (October 1983).

I'd like to say that I knew right away but the only Thor art by Trimpe I could recall was MTU #115-116. When that was proved wrong, I wondered if it was an annual. Again, wrong, although it was a decent guess as Trimpe drew most of Annual #16 (1991). I then googled Herb Trimpe and Thor and found another page for sale. When I dug the issue out, there it was. Number #336 was of course the last issue before the amazing Mr Simonson took over and saved the character from rumoured cancellation...

Robert said...

By the way, Ted, Herb is credited as "artist", so he did the pencils and inks.

(The story was written by Alan Zelenetz. Who...?)

Robert said...

My turn to request help with art.

If you go to

http://www.comicvine.com/the-mighty-world-of-marvel-/37-221905/

have a look. I was looking through some old comics two days ago and came across Mighty World of Marvel #195 (June 23, 1976). The Missing Link looks VERY Gil Kane, but really not sure with the Hulk. Only every alternate cover was the original cover art, so the other week was an original piece produced for the UK reprint edition. My instincts are that the Missing Link is a Kane swipe and the Hulk is a different artist. But not sure. Anyone help?

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Many thanks Robert , i knew the marvel oracle wouldn't let me down :)
Can't help with the mighty marvel artist. whenever i see the odd cover for sale they are usually mish mashes of original art and stats.
Ron Wilson, Pablo Marcos and Larry Lieber did a fair few british covers between them. If ye twisted my arm i would go for a Ron Wilson Hulk and Kane missing Link

Robert said...

No problem, Ted. Slightly disappointed I needed google to get me there in the end, though!

Also, thanks for the feedback on the cover, Ted. While I knew about the three artists doing covers, I hadn't realised - although now you mention it, it's rather obvious - that the covers of UK reprint titles could combine swipes from different artists. It's a lovely drawing of the Hulk but it really doesn't look like Kane's work at all. Had a look at some old Tales to Astonish covers and, with the exception of #85 which has superficial similarities, I can't locate the source art for the Missing Link character... Oh well, a mystery for guys much more knowledgable than myself...

BobDiamond said...

A bit of a wild idea here, but looking closely at the cover, especially The Hulk, I'm thinking it could be John Buscema.
The face, feet and chest muscles look a lot like his work, and even The Missing Link's body parts look a lot like his too, despite the pose looking like Gil Kane's.
A wild shot I know, but John Buscema was doing Captain Britain at about this time...so he may have been asked to do a few covers too perhaps?

Just a theory...but an interesting conundrum Robert.

BD

Robert said...

John Buscema looks a very good shout, Bob. Especially the right arm. It's definitely one of the better of the UK covers; many were pretty mediocre.

Thanks for having a look.

P.S. I take it volume 1 of the Simonson Thors hasn't arrived yet?

BobDiamond said...

Nope, I'm afraid not. I e-mailed them a couple of days ago, and I've got to say, they got back to me immediately. But they've just got to wait for a new batch to get in...
Ah well, plenty of new comics coming in at the moment, what with all the Avengers titles (Avengers Academy is surprisingly good BTW, better than the main Avengers title at the moment), and all The Shadowlands tie-ins.
I also treated myself to The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers Ominbus Edition the other day, as it was in a sale at my comic shop....brilliant stuff...takes me back...ahhh...

BD

BobDiamond said...

Spammy says he loves The Freak Brothers too.
...especially Free Wheelin' Franklin.

Anyway...for anyone who might be out there somewhere...here's a little game we can play-

Top 10 'Colourful' Characters Still to be Announced.

Here's my list:

Red Raven
White Tiger
Black Goliath
Yellow Claw
Silver Samurai
Grey Gargoyle
Scarlet Centurion
Red Wolf
Purple Man
Crimson Cowl

Give it a go ...if you're out there!

BD

SinisterVenom said...

Hey BD, I'll play your game. Anything to get us all talking again :)
Here is what I can think of off my head:

Black Tom Cassidy
Blue Shield
Red Ghost
White Wolf
Silvermane
Goldbug
Crimson Commado

I realise the majority of these characters won't have any luck making the collection but hey, a game is a game.

SinisterVenom said...

Forgot to mention I couldn't think of any more, that's why there's not 10.
But as I'm writing this I just suddenly remembered Blacklash if I'm allowed two the same colour lol.
SV

Robert said...

Bob, the only guy I can think of is the Blue Diamond, from appearances in The Invaders in the '70s. I believe he was a genuine Silver Age character, though.

BobDiamond said...

Hi SV, nice to know you're out there...it was getting a little 'Marie Celeste' around here...

Anyway, course you can have the same colour repeated...I did, with Red Raven and Red Wolf.
BTW..who is The Blue Shield?...I've heard of him, but can't remember anything about him.

BD

Ps. Think of another game we can have a go at. (if you want..!)

BobDiamond said...

Hi Robert!
You must've been on at the same time as me..just like buses- wait for ages, then they all come at once!

I think Blue Diamond WAS a Golden Age (but very minor) character, I'll Google it and get back to you...

BD

BobDiamond said...

Yep.. Blue Diamond was a Golden Age hero. he appeared in Daring Mystery Comics #7 and 8 only (1941). All other appearances were in the Invaders and Liberty Legion stories of the 70s, before he popped-up in the 'modern' world.
On a related note, I was in a market in South London in the week-end, visiting a pal, and I found a good copy of Fantastic Four Annual #11 (1976) for £1 !!
It features The Invaders in a wacky time-travel story. Brilliant stuff! The story links with Marvel 2in1 Annual with The Thing and the Liberty Legion, which unfortunately I don't have.
Anyone else got stories of finding cheap classics out there?

BD

Robert said...

Bob, MTIO Annual #1 is in the Essential MTIO Vol.1, I believe.

SinisterVenom said...

Cheers BD, I'll include Blacklash then, and since I'm two colour characters short, I gave it some thought and I came up with Black Talon and Red Guardian. Phew...difficult game for me BD, well done. As for me maing a game, I will give some thought and hopefully give you all a good choice of game.
As for Blue Shield, he first appeared in Dazzler #5 and even tried to join the Avengers once. He replaced Quasar as security director of Project Pegasus til he resigned later on. He can generate force fields with the belt he wears but I think he can do it without the belt now, not sure on that though.

Here is a pic of Blue Shield, maybe a pic will jog your memory:

In the meantime if anyone else has a game while I'm thinking of one, feel free to jump right in.
With only a week left before the poll closes and we see who the last few figs (woohoo!) I would suggest that if anybody hasn't voted yet that you hurry on over and vote!! Lol, So what do you reckon guys? Think we will get one more update from Rich before the result?
And finally, I know a lot of our regulars have been quiet lately but where the heck is Deadpool? He's been pretty quiet considering he's the Merc With A Mouth. Even Spammy seems to be more likely to take that title from you DP lol ;)
SV

Robert said...

Our game could be explaining where Deadpool has gone! I am sure it's got something to do with a webcam-on-a-stick, some bushes outside a girls'-only university dorm and the local constabulary.

Bob's game: Seem to remember a lame character called the White Rabbit. Appeared in MTU and a one-off Spectac Spidey story by DeMatteis and Sal Buscema.

John said...

Easy Robert. White Rabbit is a favorite character of mine. I loved the story with her fighting Gibbon and Grizzly from '97(?) and would love all of them as figurines.

I'm going to add in Bob GREYson to the list. The Uranian's real last name has a color in it... ;)

Robert said...

No offense meant, John (although The White Rabbit's not exactly Dr. Doom). I guess there's lame, really lame, spectacularly lame and then Rocket Raccoon...

BobDiamond said...

Colour-themed Superhero Winner!....

Cerise! (Excalibur character)

Anyone find a more obscure colour than that to name a superhero?

BD

PS...I realise this wasn't the aim of the original game...I just wanted to show-off a bit. :)

SinisterVenom said...

Very well BD my friend, how about this one:
Vertigo
If I'm not mistaken, vert is the french word for green so I do believe that counts as a colour.
This too would be classed as me showing off ;)
SV

John said...

:D Robert, Rocket Raccoon is getting made if I win the competition.

Robert said...

John, you're a great guy, but clearly crazy. Out of all the remaining characters you'd go go for a critter whose existence revolves around nuts?!! I mean, you can find loads of furry animals in the Disney store to keep you happy. ;)

P.S. Yes, I am STILL traumatised by the ridiculous Thanos episode.

BobDiamond said...

Hey Robert,
Here's a scary thought for you...Now that Marvel are owned by Disney, we might get more and more cute 'n cuddly critters making their way into the stories!
I can just see it now...
'Blade vs. Monster Inc.'
...and one just for you...
'Buzz Lightyear vs. Thanos'
I can see you rushing out to buy that masterpiece already!!
( joking aside though, stranger things have happened- we have had 'The Punisher meets Archie' and more ominously, the big guys at DC have all met The Looney Toons characters [parent company= Warner Bros.])

SV... very clever with the VERTigo idea....but how about these:

Ruby Thursday
Jade Claw (from Atlas)
Ebony (Agatha Harkness's cat)

If gold and silver count as colours, then these substances should as well!

Cheers everyone!
- good to see we're getting back to the fun stuff, while we wait...

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Klaw is lovely very pleased with him. Grim Reaper looks fantastic ...but he is actually lighter in weight than Klaw?
I realise the days of heavy lead capes may be too cost prohibitive these days, but i'm pretty sure even his scythe ain't lead.
Tell me this ain't so!

Robert said...

Bob, I am thinking of explaining away all my recent abherrations on that dumb comic where the raccoon beats Thanos! I think any reasonable judge would be understanding, excuse any behaviour no matter how outrageous, order the writers to apologise and then ban them from comics for ten years. I mean, they pratically chased Gerry Conway out of Dodge after the death of Gwen Stacy and Gwen clone storylines and this is right up there with monumental bone-headed plots.

Anywho, I have to go. My CPN is in with me and she said I need my injection now so she can leave in time to collect her son from football training. Bye.

If you want another list/game then here's one. I'm stuffed and can't do it.

Non android/robot characters not released that have lost a limb or body part.

Doing died and came back is easy. Doing ones that lost a limb or body part is harder, well it is for me anyway. lol

pirate adam said...

Odin lost an eye and Tyr lost a hand

Rabid Womble said...

Nick Fury - Eye

Not sure if Klaw lost his hand or if that is just a weapon he has his hand in.

Doc Connors is out because he is technically The Lizard and he's been released already.

Rabid Womble said...

Oops forgot Fury has been released and Klaw has just been released. I've hit a total blank now lol

Bagman said...

Yondu lost his right hand.

SinisterVenom said...

Well not a body part but Maximus lost his sanity! I think we should get Maximus The Mad should make the collection soon.
But anyway, sanity doesn't really count so that's not my choice for womble's game.
If I'm not mistaken, didn't Living Laser once explode when he tried to implant laser diodes in his body? I'm sure this would count as losing body parts as he literally lost all of them! Lol
If anyone remembers this story, could you confirm it as I don't remember what year I read this.
SV

BobDiamond said...

Interesting game Rabid Womble...

Karma (New Mutants) recently lost a leg.

USAgent lost at least an arm and a leg fighting Nuke in 'Siege'. He is now the warden in 'The Thunderbolts'.

Misty knight- famous for her replacement arm.

Psylocke- Bionic eyes (thanks to Slaymaster), at least she had them before her Asian make-over.

Angel had his wings amputated, leading to his transformation into Archangel. But they grew back eventually-so this probably doesn't count.

Razorfist(s) had his (their) hands removed on purpose to be replaced by blades. (stupid t**ts.

Can't think of anymore right now...

BD

John said...

SV, fully support you on Maximus the Mad. Most people say we just need Lockjaw, but I really can't see a full set until we have Maximus. ...I've seen people ask for Luna before Maximus. Really? Luna?

For the game, did the Shroud lose his eyes when he got his powers?

Otherwise I'll name one of my most wanted; The Constrictor, losing his hands to MVPs clone, KIA.

Oh, and speaking of snakes, Bushmaster lost all his limbs to a boat trying to escape the police.
