Prowler & Firestar

Hello everyone,

We’re extremely busy here at Eaglemoss, trying to meet all our pre-Christmas and pre-Chinese New Year deadlines, so I’ll have to make this quick.

First up a couple of sneak peeks that I don’t think you’ve seen:

Prowler

Firestar

That should allay fears that we’re gearing up to change the running order.

Also, we should have an update going on the main site very soon showing the figures up to #145. Sorry for the delay,

Quick update on the ebay figures: First, thanks to everyone here and on the forum for pointing them out and not bidding because you thought they were stolen. We’ve contacted the seller and have worked out how he got hold of the figures. To cut a long story short, it’s not the seller’s fault; he picked up the figures from a local charity shop after they were accidentally given away. So no theft involved.

Apologies, but that is your lot this week.

Have a good weekend.

Love both sculpts. Prowler will be proudly displayed with my SpiderMan gang and Firestar will go amongst my Avenger crowd for now. I like how you have shown Firestar using her powers too.
I would love to have some more of the New Warriors in...especially Justice.

Woohoo! Finally a sneak peak of Prowler, and I love it! Firestar looks amazing too.
Thanks for letting us know about the ebay figures and the main site, looking forward to seeing that updated :)
Thanks for fnding the time to share with us the update Rich!
PS I'm backing you up with wanting Justice in the collection Gremlin!

Firestar looks lovely, When you get a chance Rich we would love to hear how those figs ended up in a charity shop, wish it had been my local one :)

2 great figures! Really liking Prowler, a great pose for the character and I love the cape :) Firestar is also pretty nice!!

Robert said...

Firestar looks great. Another Avenger, too, so I'm happy.

And while I always liked the Prowler, doesn't his head appear a little small?

As for the eBay figures, I'm pleased it was a mix-up, rather than someone on staff was a tea-leaf who had to be sacked. I am a sucker for happy endings.

Like both sculpts spot on with both characters.

Can we see Songbird & Destiny next as they are the last 2 from that extension that we have not seen.

Any news on Northstar & Aurora and a Sauron special?

Prowler is terrific, while Firestar should make a nice Spitfire.

I think the Prowler looks amazing! Firestar looks pretty cool too.
A couple of excellent additions to the collection.
Thanks Rich!

Both sculpts look really good. I have to admit when Firestar was announced a little bit of me died inside, but she looks a very tidy sculpt

Excellent sculpts! and thanks for the update. An update on SAURON would be good without doubt one of the most wanted specials there is.

Any chance of seeing DESTINY next?

WOAH! Prowler and Firestar are totally awesome. I'm thrilled to the max, this collection never ceases to amaze. It seems to me that it's reaching new heights.
Keep up the standard, EM, as you are creating something beautiful that'll go down in Marvel history.
Thank you Rich.

Short and sweet update, dont mind these at all. Dont have to always read our endless babbling, we just love seeing an update, so cheers.

Firestar looks ace. No bad pun intended, but she looks like one of the hottest female sculpts in the collection. Great work. Prowler, I am slightly disappointed in, purely because my prowler knowledge is based of the Spidey cartoons in the 90s and the dude was buff, but the sculpt makes it look like the clothes are just hanging off him.

I think the eBay thing is a fluff excuse, but hey, i'm cynical. How would they know they were unreleased and off the factory shelf if he got them in a charity shop. If he were indeed a collector, why wouldnt he just keep them? I call hoax.

I work stuff like this out for breakfast. I solved all the riddler's challenges, assisted professor layton in his puzzles and brought justice to the courtroom in phoenix wright. There is no way I am wrong on this one. :P

Agent Coulson to "Thor": "You made MY men look like a bunch of minimum wage mall-cops." (My emphasis.)

Why is Agent Coulson delivering that line? The top guy is Nick Fury, there 'his' men! A high priority like this would have
the Director personally involved.

Trailer looks really good, although not much in it that we haven't seen before. A bit early to hope for a lot more, I guess. Getting impatient!

P.S. Also slightly worried Thor's going to spend a large chunk of the film de-powered when he gets cast back to earth.

I really like both sneak peeks and I'm not complaining, but just like LAWay I'd have preferred Firestar in her Janet Van Dyne designed outfit due to the fact that although the classic look is my first choice the majority of times this look is too similar to those used in Crystal's and Hellcat's figurines.Besides I'll be placing her with the other Avengers in my collection and the other suit would have been more appropriate.

Glad to hear there will be a much needed update on the main site soon.

I'd like to see The Swordsman added in the next extension or better yet as a double pack with Mantis.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Watched the Thor videogame trailer, Ulik is in it ...yaaaaay!...It will still be crap but i will wait 6 months and pick it up on ebay for a fiver.
"Victory or Valhalla" catchy catchphrase.

Robert said...

Yah, Thor8 is back!

I probably prefer the Firestar costume from the Avengers, too, except for the fact that I can't get my head around the flames on her face. I assume someone has explained this in a comicbook and I've missed it or forgotten it. Anyway, it looks like face paint, but that would be too time-consuming to put on. Is it some sort of very thin mask? What is it?

Wow! i was unaware that there was a poll for wanted characters, and to see The Swordsman heading the top twelve list followed by Mantis in second place is just too sweet for words. I hope Rich is taking this into account.

The only problem with Bob's poll is that a much bigger poll ran on the forum not so long ago and that''s the one Eaglemoss are going to look at first.

Robert said...

Ah, Ted, if ever there was a man who proved the old adage of "Look before you leap"...

Anyway, can I ask what Galactus you bought?

P.S. I half-expected our resident encyclopedia, CBRBeast, to explain the score with Firestar's face. I looked up the character on the Marvel database and it didn't answer my question from earlier. So, who knows?

Thor8 said...

Robert; Although I'm not exactly an expert on Firestar,I looked through my Avengers collection and other sources and I can't recall there being any mention about her "mask's" origin or what it's made of. I would think its a thin self adhering mask of some sort. I take a more careful look at my sources and see if I can find something if someone else doesn't find the answer first.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

It's the Galactus from this collection Robert, The wonderful chap who commissioned it sent me just about every special and variant from this collection and a few nice DC one's too.
That's them packed away in the loft till a nice piece of art takes my fancy.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Speaking of lofts Robert, are you still planning on creating a blog showing your 40yr hoard?
Thor8, i imagine your collection must be a truly impressive sight..hint,hint :)

Robert said...

Thor8, thanks for getting back to me on Firstar's "mask". I'm not all that familiar with the character except for her appearances in volume 3 of the Avengers. The flame detail was quite convincing in those comicbooks (and in the story currently running in "I am an Avenger") and, even ignoring the practical improbabilities, it does not look like crude-by-comparison face-painting. I can only imagine it's a wafer-thin mask, as you believe. However, I've never seen her putting it on. (I reread the Avengers issues only last month so I know she didn't put it on then.) Just wondering...

Ted, yep, still planning to do that. I have tidied up and can now see the carpet again. But I want to mount runners on the wall for comicbooks and that will need to wait till I finish the DIY on the living room cupboard. I also have to hang (from a sloping roof; not sure how to do that yet) my No-Prize from Stan, Stan Lee's autograph and a sketch that Sal Buscema did for me. Will be early next year, hopefully.

BTW...well into the third volume of the Simonson Thors. Damn good stuff, especially The Executioner's Last Stand bit!

BD

Robert said...

I removed it because it was so negative, Bob.

I'm re-reading the Simonson Thors, too. The Executioner's last stand is the best death in comics and one of the best scenes in comicbook history. Just utter brilliance. I am on to the issues with Sal on art chores now. Even though Sal is my favourite artist, and he's doing some of the finest work of his entire career, I was STILL disappointed to see Walt step down as artist.

I meant to ask, Bob, does the volume give you any background info? As I have the originals, I get to read the Letters Pages and Walt only agreed to do 12 issues. He ended up drawing twice as many and writing even more. Just think: we could have missed the Skurge storyline!!

And, does it tell you that when Walt was a kid, he missed an issue of Thor and wrote to Stan? Stan wrote back personally and sent Walt the comic he missed! Stan Lee: He is our God for a reason...

browncoat said...

charity shop !? who you kidding

Thor8 said...

Robert and Bob; I .too am re-reading my Thor collection, but I started all the way back from the prehistoric days and I've yet to reach the Simonson era! The Executoner's last stand is amoung my favorite stories and I remember it well. Whom amoung us who were able to read his first appearances would have ever thought he'd meet such a noble and heroic end.

Robert said...

You're right about Skurge, Thor8, it was both a completely unexpected and (with hindsight) predictable conversion. It made sense because you always knew that Amora would get bored with him and he would not take it well! In the hands of anyone else, Skurge would just become violent beyond reason and attack Thor or the Asgardians in yet another act of pointless killing. In Simonson's hands Skurge does become impossibly blood-thirsty - but in a redemptive, heroic way! Only someone like Simonson could pull that contradiction off and do it in a poetic way that reversed everything you ever felt for a character! A staggering piece of writing. Even Stan and Jack did not manage a death scene this good. I can't remember them reversing my opinion of someone in the space of two or three pages, either. (And, let's face it, the last-minute conversion is common: see FF's "This Man, This Monster" story or even Conway's last part of the original clone story when Prof Warren realises his acts are evil.) Simonson: a genius, no ifs, buts or maybes about it.

MARVEL GIRL, not so marvelous.
Just saw her picture on the main CMFC site. I must say, she's awful.
Remind me - who chose to go with that look for her? It was never great, but now she looks like a vice girl playing with her hair while standing on a sidewalk in NYC's Lexington Avenue.

LAWay said...

I agree, Marvel girl looks awful. Didnt we get shown a different preview on the blog?

*checks*

Ah, the photo was from a different angle. Crafty. Yeh, she doesnt look great, looks like she is washing her hair or doing some sort of 80s dance routine.

Not a character I would have named to be in the collection this early. Although I would have preferred the classic green and yellow costume, but I dont know if this person actually wore it.

Robert said...

Having zoomed in on the image of Marvel Girl it almost looks as if she has something on her face. Does that make any sense? I don't know the character and the images I pulled up from google didn't show any incarnations with facial tattoos/ painting/ mask/ etc. I'm probably imagining this. If not, anyone got an explanation? (Honestly, one minute you can't move on here for falling over X-fans and when you really want one there's none around!)

And, Kirlianeyes, thanks for telling us where to find the hookers whenever we go to New York City. I was still under the impression you had to go to 7th Avenue, but then Simon and Garfunkel are not exactly up-to-date! :)

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Marvel girl is the first fig i've seen that actually looks worse painted, Still i was never remotely interested in her no matter the outfit, she can hide behind Blink when she arrives.

Robert said...

Is this the first time we've seen Marvel girl painted? And by "we" I mean the forum as well as on here. I don't pay much attention to the X-characters so I may just be forgetting. The only time there's been such negative responses was for Pyro. And Pyro is a work of art by comparison...

As a great fan of Spider-man and his amazing friends...I couldn't be happier to see Firestar in her original costume... it might be a basic costume but i think its pretty iconic....I'll stand her next to iceman and Spidey. Infact I might even re-enact 7 little superheroes and pit the spider-friends against the Chamelion.... I'm well pleased to see swordsman and mantis topping the poll. Hopefully that secures their release...Are we going to see Moondragon in her classic green outfit as I want to flesh out my defenders set... and also Julia Carpenter..... are we going to see her in her secret wars black costume? I really hope so....So far i think the women are definitely leading the way in the excitement stakes with Moondragon, Photon, Shanna, Spiral, Destiny, Arachne and of course my most anticipated of all Mockingbird.....

RE Production samples:
Many production samples come into the office (including all foreign editions), and a few of us people in the know take some for our 'retirement fund', any remaining 'spares' get put in the communal area for anyone to take (including folks who are not that clued up on what they are taking). One EM staff member who shall remain nameless took a batch of these samples and off-loaded them to a charity shop (baffles me aswell!) - this has now been stopped and all future samples will be better contained/ archived/ distributed/ destroyed etc. Rich and myself will always tell you guys the truth and would certainly not make up stories about certain issues. Thanks again for all the comments and your continued support of CMFC.

Hi DP, glad to here you're safe and well- got to watch out for those bull elephants though....What is it that you do anyway??!

On another topic completely (you being a DC collector too...), have you heard about the weird stuff happening with the DC Collection? Apparently the Batmite/ Mr Mxyzptlk double sculpture has been removed from the running order because it 'doesn't fit the collection', so EM might release it as an American Comic Con Exclusive.
Needless to say there are a lot of angry fans on the 'other' forum because of this. It's like the whole 'green' Quicksilver fiasco all over again. If EM go through with this they are going to lose a lot of collectors out of shear anger, for not being able to have a complete collection. I might well be one of them.
Anyone else got any views on this?

BD

Robert said...

ANY kind of discriminatory release is wrong.

mgf said...

"Batmite/ Mr Mxyzptlk double sculpture has been removed from the running order because it 'doesn't fit the collection'"

Batmite never did fit the collection, but to remove Mr. Mxyzptlk is ludicrous. Woe betide EM releasing a comic-con only figure. People have supported both collections since the get go. Any (further) sign that non-collectors are being courted in such a way while regular buyers need to fight through an eBay auction will send a clear message to buyers that EM don't really welcome our custom.

The word verification is "puztaek". How apt.

SinisterVenom said...

Hi to you too DP, glad to see you're out and about...although I must suggest caution around those bull elephants, save all your energy for your role in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 huh ;)
For some reason my word verification made me think of your name too: kilerpol.
Also does anybody know anything of the Marquis Of Death? I have never seen him before so there is the chance he has only just been introduced into the MU. I picked up issue 12 of Fantastic Four Adventures and according to Dr. Doom, this guy is apparentely "the first super-villain". It's a great story so far and certainly quite intriguing...
SV

Anonymous said...

I collect DC figures as well, and I am delighted that Mr Mxyzptlk has been removed. It certainly DOES NOT FIT my collection!

I'm not claiming I'm in majority, but many collectors like me feel that this 'cartoony' type of characters just make silly figurines which look like cheap paperweights you'd expect to find in Poundland stores.

To have him, would have been a FIASCO. Just like Detective Chimp, Mr Mxyzptlk would have proved totally unattractive to casual buyers as they do not have distinctive superheroic features.

And that's my view, folks.

LAWay said...

So DC cancel Mr Mxyzptlk, but Marvel approve of Impossible Man.

And some people cry out for Howard the Duck AND Rocket Raccoon.

Me thinketh the DC collectors have more sense.

Robert said...

K-Eyes, while I have to admit I agree with you who I want to see and who I do not want to see in the collection, you're missing the point. This issue of American-only releases is not about personal likes or dislikes, it's about ALL collectors getting the same opportunitites to indulge those likes and dislikes.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

I remember watching with some bemusement the daft prices being paid on ebay for green Quicksilver, My bemusement turned to genuine concern for the mental health of the bidders . £100 for a differnt paintjob is just naw right .i don't care how big a completionist you are.
With that in mind i shudder to think what these US exclusives will fetch considering 100% of the subscribers will have no access to it.unless they are willing to get fleeced on Ebay.
Absolute insanity

Robert said...

The whole green Quicksilver incident makes me squirm in my seat a little. I started buying the Marvel Masterworks hardbacks when they first came out in '88. Still do, and have a complete set. However, I had to pay hundreds of pounds to get a copy of the elusive number 31, the only edition I was missing. Unmarried and with fewer financial commitments at that time, it was easily affordable. I was also curious to read Neal Adams on the X-Men. Nevertheless, it's the only occasion where I have cause to question if I was in control of my hobby or if my hobby was in control of me. I'm still not sure of the answer and this makes me a tad uncomfortable.

P.S. Bob, Ted, are you reading "Captain America: Man out of Time"? I'm not enjoying many of Marvel's titles right now but this is one of the few exceptions.

BobDiamond said...

Hi guys- just want to say I appreciate the support concerning the possible DC Collection Con Exclusive rubbish ('con' being the choice word I feel...).
I realize that only a few of you collect both series- so it's cool that you're standing up for the principle of the thing. Cheers all!

As for 'CA-Man Out Of Time' Robert, I am reading it, but haven't read issue 2 yet. Started well though, so I'm sure it's not going to disappoint. A lot of Cap stuff is excellent at the moment- especially the minis. There's a Hydra-focused one coming up soon -looking forward to that particularly.

BD

Robert said...

I was in FP today so I read part 2 on the train home, Bob. (Roads too dodgy for the motorcikle!) Waid - excellent writer - has focused on Cap adjusting to being reawoken (hence the title, I guess) in greater detail and with more humour and insight than any other writer, even THE MAN. When you think what fertile ground this could be it's strange no one else has done this before. Stan, much as I revere him as my God, made Cap a bit morose and self-pitying and, well, dull. Waid's take on this dislocation is a great read. I won't spoil it but the scenes with the doctor and how Cap wanted to organise a search are just really funny and even endearing. Actually, issue 2 is packed with little gems. It's easily the best (new) comicbook I've read in months.

LAWay said...

Whoa...what did i miss?

A comic con exclusive? A U.S. exclusive.

Well you can stop that sh!t right there EM. If you can't even sort out a subscription service to our american brothers, there is no way in hell should exclusive figurines be sold there. Its not fair to collectors worldwide.

Its a british product. I dont want to step on people's toes here, but you have to realize, this is a british product that everyone else in the world are fortunate to receive with it being available to buy wherever they are, but the priority, the loyalty should be back home with what made the collection happen.

I don't need to bitch about all the exclusives that are unavailable to the UK in other Marvel products. Heck, sometimes we dont even get the main marvel lines over here. So to do this would be a travesty.

If you are telling UK subscribers that they would be unwilling to complete a collection that they signed up and thus deserve every figurine that becomes available, then thats just shocking. I hate people threatening the quit and all that, but I would seriously question the company's loyalty to its subscribers, and I would probably cancel and just start collecting figurines I like if I am just going to be shafted with figurines that are impossible to buy.

The only exception for an exclusive would be some sort of CFMC convention/studio tour/exhibit. And it wouldnt be a limited exclusive, as in 'only 100 available', but just you have to come down to buy it, but it will always be available.

Anyway, enough ranting, probably about nothing and I read inbetween the lines wrong. Let's get back to the snow...

Robert said...

I understand your anger, Leight. However, British product or not, everyone should have the same opportunities to buy figures. Just because some American merchandise is not available in Europe doesn't make it okay for us to exclude them. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

"Oh the weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful and since we've no place to go let it snow let it snow let it snow"
Aaaah! booze , helps you look on the bright side :)
Oh i just thought i'd mention i have a few variants ( unopened )
like Blue Angel ,Grey Hulk and White Cap Marvel. If any of those wonderful US collectors are interested in swapsies when those comic con exclusives are released.
I think subscribers would prefer to be fleeced by a brit on ebay ;)

Thor8 said...

My support on the "exclusive" issues goes with the majority. I see no need for this to be done, and although I do not collect DC as such,(except for the most famous of The JLA members)It's as others have said, the principal of the matter. Let's face it,the only ones who benefit from things like this are the money mongers whom in the majority aren't even true fans or collectors that purchase them by the truckload and then skin alive the rest of the true collectors by selling them at ridiculous prices. Anyone wanting a green Quicksilver only needs to do a repaint job and "woalla" there you have it.I did the same with my Angel figurine because I liked him more in the blue version costume and every one who sees it thinks he came that way. So Rich and EM gang listen to those who buy this product because they love "THEM" for what they are and not so much the Money they may bring later on.

On another note hi DP glad to hear your A OK, and I've been missing two of my Warriors Three lately. Pirate and Jacadoo, where are you?

LAWay said...

anyway, no update yesterday, i doubt we'll get one on Christmas eve and New Years eve, so unless we get a midweek update its gonna be another 2 weeks, now for Rich to redeem himself from his lack of updates i think we need a sneak peak of the Odin sculpt and news that Sauron will be only a regular, then i will be happy :)

I hate it when folk exploit collectors. When Cap #25 came out (the Death of Captain A issue), it sold out of the Glasgow FP in a day. So people like me - who have bought this title faithfully for decades - missed out. Later, at home, I saw a flood of these issues on eBay at inflated prices. I refused to pay, though. Thankfully, the staff at FP know me and my Cap obsession well and one of the staff (Hi, Kevin!) kept one aside that I picked up the next time I was in. (I seem to remember saying that I would name my firstborn son after him.)

So PA think
s he is a Frandral type? I was never handsome like Fandrall but as I get older I am getting more like Volstagg in appearance and more like Hogun in demeanour...

As for Rich, even though he has said he won't post for a bit I am hopeful he'll fire out a wee message around Christmas-time. He knows how cranky we get with no updates!

You may have suspected it, even whispered it in darkened nooks and crannies , Ted.. he's a bit special
Well tonight i can confirm your combobulations.
I have been blessed with a gift i only need to see a few lines of a persons writing to form an accurate physical representation . my gift has been used by numerous law enforcement agencies worldwide.
Many of you may poo poo, well you check out my merry xmas blog and realise i speakith the truth.

Love the sketch Ted!!

One question- what's in the bag I'm holding??.....and cheers for making me so slim!

Guys, you've got to check this out!

He made you slim but he made me shorter, fatter and balder! It's amazing how you can go off some folk! :)

LAWay said...

either i'm really short or the rest of you guys are freakishly tall. lol

FP is just as bad with price hiking. With Marvel Legends, they ship variants in a crate of figures. Now, instead of charging regular price for these figures, FP charge the eBay selling price for them, ripping people like me off. A shop has no right to do this. They pay a standard rate for a box of figures, they dont pay extra for variants and neither should customers.

Jerks.

Liked your sketch Ted,but you shaved off my mustachio.

Going back to the exclusives. I was wondering;just how much of an input does Marvel have in this matter? After all, this collection IS based on their characters,so I imagine they do have a say so in this. Maybe Rich or Dan can give us some info on just who it is that makes the final decision on exclusives and on who gets included in this collection and who does not. This is a British product so I believe it is only right that we see more British characters such as Spitfire and Baron Blood included.

It's been awhile since the last extension was completed,so when will we know the order in which they will be produced?

Ted, you can give LAWay a run for his money with your fantastic talent :) you did however miss out one very important blog member, if you want to know who it is....LOOK IN THE MIRROR!!!

you did however get my likeness spot on LOL

Robert said...

Excellent question, Thor8. I'd like to know more on this, too. In the past, Rich has stated that Marvel sometimes choose the incarnation of a character (like Cat-Beast) and that any figure is sent to Marvel for the final okay. It would be interesting to know how much independence Eaglemoss actually have.

breaking news from the other place

bat-mite and myx will NOT be released as a convention only special and will get a general release. although exactly how has not been determined yet

Robert said...

A victory for common sense and fairness. Although, it would have been nice if these qualities had been shown earlier and stopped the whole ridiculous and predictably unpopular idea being mooted in the first place.

Thor8 said...

Good news indeed Mighty M,but I'd still like to know just how much of an input Mighty Marvel (the company, not the blogger) has on decisions like costume choices, incarnations, inclusions and exclusions,multi-packs,double packs etc.

avenger guy said...

Love prowler sculpt but marvel girl looks like she has been run over car and her paint colours are tackey.

avenger guy said...

what about the black panther characters they haven't been focused on in the collection like one of the most important characters man-ape

Robert said...

Maybe Dan the Man might come on and answer your question, Thor8...?

(Yes, that was indeed a shameless hint.)

Query: Does anyone know the name of the small plastic figures you can buy in FP? They come in packs of about five or six, I think, and are about an inch tall. Each figure is unpainted but they come in different colours - red, blue, etc. They have some of the big guns like Thor, Cap and (Proteus) IM, although they also have lesser lights such as Madman. I was thinking that if I painted a few they could stand around a Galactus statue...

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Man what a night i woke up in a shed with a mouthful of animal fur and a spring roll behind my ear.
Glad to hear the whole comic con exclusive nonsense has been canned.
Speaking of alcoholics, a wee while ago i found a page of original art (waaaay out of my price range). It was an Iron Man splash page by the legend that is Marie Severin.
What made it so desireable was a fantastic hand written quote at the bottom of the page " Ditko doesn't draw drunk superheroes"
The page showed IM without his helmet completely pissed up in a bar.
Worth £1200 of anybody's money

Robert said...

Ted, one of my Christmas presents is a Herb Trimpe/ Marie Severin Hulk comic (#189, 190 or 192, I forget). Cracking artist. Sadly under-rated.

Random question: It's now a year since the competition won by Max, who nominated Siryn as a figurine.

I was wondering how many people's choices have since been confirmed? Anyone?

mighty_marvel said...

in the first competition my choice was JJJ who has since been confirmed.

Thor8 said...

My choice was The Swordsman (original)which has not been confirmed yet,but I'm sure expecting him to be so this coming new year.

pirate adam said...

my comp choice was either Hela or Heimdall, couldn't decide but i probably would have picked Heimdall as i think Hela has a better chance of being in the next extension

PA

BobDiamond said...

The first competition I think I went for Baron Strucker.
The second it was definitely Killraven.
...so no luck there then! :)

BD

Robert said...

Thanks, guys. So only MM got his wish... and I would have thought JJJ would have been much longer odds than, say, the Swordsman.

My choice was of course the Recorder. I cheated and repainted Machine Man!

mighty_marvel said...

i've been really lucky this year with both my 1st and 2nd choice competition picks making the collection. i hope 2011 proves to be as lucky for the other members of the blog.

hela and swordsman both have a good chance of being in the next extension. as long as she can be done as a regular, hela is the logical next choice for an asgardian slot. and i think swordsman is the only 60s
recruit avenger left to be made so surely its his time.

i'm also hoping my third choice competition pick of brother voodoo has a good chance of making the next extension. was tough to choose between him and nico when i won the competition but i thought there was a much better chance of him making it reasonably soonish anyway.

Gremlin said...

The first competition I picked Warlock from the New Mutants and this year I went with Darkstar. Obviously neither have been made but I have hope that some day they will grace our shelves....Darkstar has more of a chance hopefully.

There are many characters I am currently pushing to be made but the shortlist is...

Meggan - Last member of the original Excalibur team and a great british character.

Wolfsbane - 30 years of constant continuity and a great look for this New Mutant.

Gamora - A much needed cosmic and a great look if done in her modern costume.

Darkstar - nuff said.

Deathbird - Fantastic looking x-villian and cosmic foe.

I hope to see some of them next extension.

This years highlights for me have been the confirmation of Photon, Magik, Mockingbird, Northstar and Aurora and Sister Grimm.
The best preview I have seen this year is SPIRAL...six hands down. Closely followed by Cannonball....a truely inspired sculpt.

mgf said...

Starhawk, Vance or Marvelman for the next extension please.

Got the DC subby pack today. Really poor packaging and a broken Trigon figure. I have a feeling there will be many returns, but not happy ones for this figure. Huge box with no additional packing materials inside meaning the figures just rattle around inside. Dopey.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

I nominated Bloodstone, although i was sorely tempted to go for Princess Python, glad to see most of our choices polled a single vote over on the ither place ;)
My last DC subbie was Pengin and Deadshot so hopefully the packaging on Trigon will have improved by the time i receive it.
It was most ironic that after 2 bashed up/dodgy repair jobs from EM, I finally received a pristine FFF from the chap that paid me in figs?
I know the last two extensions were confirmed rather close to each other , so what kinda timeframe are we looking at regarding the next extension announcement?

SinisterVenom said...

If I remember correctly my choice was Avalanche, I really wanted him to be included with the Brotherhood that we already have. Needless to say I voted for him on the polls this year which helped to get him in :)
So that was probably a nice highlight for me, as well as Northstar and Aurora being confirmed. My favourite sneak peaks have to be Spiral, Hydro-Man, Cannonball and Blob.
The figures have looked more and more outstanding this year. Keep up the good work guys!

SinisterVenom said...

By the way guys, does anybody have their Omega Red figurine yet?
I bought mine a few days after it was released and a month later it still hasn't turned up :(
SV

mighty_marvel said...

i have omega red. the sculpt is good but is a little front heavy and causes it to tip ever so slightly forwards. would have preferred for him to be standing straighter in light of this

Robert said...

Enjoyed reading everyone's comments on this year's highlights. It's almost like we're having one of the those end-of-year tv programmes that recount major news stories and deaths!

Was it really only a year ago that I was scolding a certain Mr. Smith because he would not congratulate Max on winning the competition? Was it really only a year ago that Ted was still a member of the forum, and his multiple bans had yet to occur? We've seen the forum shut down, the confirmation of the first civilian, DP get shot at, people move to the Isle of Man, and so on. There's been fall-outs, man hugs, insanity and references to sexual organs and their purpose. Ah, the memories. Sniff.

To anyone that's interested in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (I know you definately are Leigh) there is a new trailer:

Hey Robet, the toys you are looking for may be called:
And you can find them in Asda as well. I have seen them on the shelves anyway, so probably cheaper there.

SV - Yeh, saw that trailer, very cool. Looking more forward to it every time. I am on xbox, username LAWay, but havent got live at the moment. I hope they release the special edition in the UK though, comes with an art book as well! Woo!

Thanks, Leigh, you're a good man. I needed the name to check if they had classic Iron Man. They actually have at least four versions in Series 1! (Mark I, Heroes Reborn/ Proteus, Hulkbuster and Extremis.) The one in Series 2 is probably the one I am interested in but not sure. It's been described as "classic rounded armour" (!). Was thinking of painting a few and standing them at the base of one of my Big G figures.

Bob, thanks for the comment. Nice to know we're appreciated! On the subject of positive comments, anyone who wants to say "Happy Birthday!", feel free. I took a day off work so I'll open up some Silver Age comicbooks (ALL my presents bar one are comicbooks, he he), have a cuppa, spend some quality time with my girls then wander round to see my folks for an hour, go see Tron Legacy this afternoon at the IMAX with one of my closest friends (who I hardly see these days), visit my niece (she has the same birthday) then go up the road and spend the evening with my darling wife. I'll try fit in some more comic reading before the day ends! Hey, I'm old and slow on my feet! I can't cope with too much excitement!
