Sorry it's been awhile since I last updated. (Various conspiring factors that I won't bore you with!).

Anyway I thought I'd (re)preview some of the upcoming issues...

The beautiful yet controversial Gamora. Went with this cover as it was the best full page shot of her available (yes I know she is being controlled by the Phalanx in this pic, but c'mon it's amazing! and yes I know a lot of you wanted her figurine in this costume, but having just read through all of her comic appearances I feel I made the right decision - just.

Another Andie Tong winner. He seems to be evolving into a more naturalistic painted style (even though it's all digital).

 

Robert Atkins supplies the goods for Stingray...

Andie Tong 'heralds' a new era of greatness... (geddit?)

Dene Mason's Spidey 2099 gets the full turnaround treatment...

Hopefully I'll return sooner than later.

Skurge in inglorius colour

For those who wondered why the lights went out, the account was accidently de-activated by me.

We went with this one. Looking forward to the full masterpiece!

BTW here's my mock-up for Diamond Previews Catalog (I had to supply them a cover way before we actually commissioned it!) Nice piece by Ed McGuiness from official toy packaging, doesn't really work as a CMFC cover as his hand goes under the logo too much, but it was perfect for a mock-up.

I actually tried to order the hi-res art file from Marvel, but they didn't have it - I suppose it's held by the toy company (?) I would have used it for page 2...

Well, it finally came in – Hela in all her deathly magnificence!

With annotations from the sculptor Peter Hutchins...

Hela: Asgardian Goddess of Death. Sculpted @90mm in height.

Three resin duplicate patterns.

Profile of her left side, from a slightly elevated angle.
She's sculpted by hand, ie. traditionally with no digital assistance.

Rear 3/4 view.

Sculpted to compliment each other at a scale of 88mm -90mm.

First paint from Banjo.

Second paint with black mask and 'antlers'.

Skurge improved

More aggressive pose, with snarled mouth, axe held a bit higher, plus all the final detailing.

Skurge early stage

Thought I'd show you the first Skurge in progress digital images - nice bulky frame, with nice smooth contours, but lacking in dynamism somewhat. I've asked for the obvious costume detailing, aswell as much more aggression in the pose and facial expression - we await the improved version...




On a side note Kev Hopgood (who did the original sketch), had a go at a digital sculpt, just for fun. Although not quite as sharp, I like the meaner take on the character.
