The Early Bird Special

Earlier post this week as we're having a lovely (rainy?) EM summer party starting at 2pm-ish.

Some requested shots of previously unseen fully painted figurines

A more finished Sebastian Shaw (although we are having his shoes changed from 1980s gym shoes to 18th century buckled ones!)

It's official - the next Special will be MODOK - in your shops November! price TBC.
Hopefully we're still on for a Northstar & Aurora double-pack in January (production issues aside!).

Here's John McCrea's 'splash page' cover sketches for Hydro-Man - (quite liked the drowning Spidey one - but pipped for the stand alone full figure we usually go for)...

aaaaaaaaaaaand finally, the two females who made it in this extension are...

Danielle Moonstar (aka Mirage)

I think we should keep her consistant with Magik and go for the original NM costume, I do like the idea of a bow and arrow though, will have to see if this would be too expensive.

the other loverlee laydee is....

Moonstone...

A lass with lots of looks over the years! Although her first costume is very unique and original - I think her recent costume is more sexy and would make a better figurine - although I haven't made my mind up and I'm interested in your views on this!

I-- CAN-- HEAR--- THE-- BEER--- CALL-- ING-- ME......

It's HAMMERHEAD and JIGSAW time.

What would you prefer, Jigsaw in a suit, on it his stitched up Punisher uniform?

Hi, guys.

Wow. Missed a lot. Glad to hear Swordsman has been confirmed and the sneak peaks of Captain Marvel and Beetle look good. Not overly impressed with Wizard. Although I have next to no interest in Avalanche his paint job looks very good. I'll admit to not being terribly knowledgeable about Dracula, but he looks very young. Didn't he appear to be middle-aged in the comics?

Went to see X-Men: First Class tonight and it was preceded by a Captain America trailer. Even though I've watched the trailer numerous times, I got really excited. So, my question is, and I'm being serious, is anyone taking a shield with them or wearing a Cap mask? I know, I know, my cutlery should be made from foam. Nevertheless, will the cinema let folk in if they have a shield on their arm?

Oh, and I took photos of my loft to show you. Unfortunately, before I could post them, the proverbial roof fell on my head here and I didn't get round to it. Things won't ever be the way they were before the 23rd but they're better now. So, I'll put them up here or onto the CBR Comics Shelf Porn site soon.

Hey Robert ol' buddy, glad to hear from you at last! You had us all worried, heck even DP mentioned my shout out to you in his gay and lesbian comments post a few days ago (if you havnt seen it I suggest you check it out, it's quite fun to read).
And I'm considering getting a Captain America costume to wear for when I go to the cinema haha. I'm planning on getting some friends to get Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Hawkeye costumes for next year when the Avengers film is released :D

HAMMERHEAD & WHIRLWIND!!

THANKS SINVEN!;)

As you see in my last list John TOMBSTONE does come up as my next Spidey villain then MOLTEN MAN, JACKAL & then JACK O'LANTERN matched with THE SCARECROW. He would make a great figure holding his pitchfork in one hand & then his other arm lifted with a crow sitting on it like The Falcon & Redwing. And maybe another crow sitting on his shoulder.

Good to see you again Robert. Cant wait for captain america. I will be going wearing my captain america 'costume' t-shirt. There will also be a spider-man movie trailer attached to it, so bonus! :D

Cheers, guys! I don't have the authority to hand out No-Prizes but please accept a No-Hug! (And, SV, what a brilliant idea! Love it!)

I went back and read some of the posts over the last few weeks. Missed DP's gay and lesbian post, although I may look again later as he's always good fun. I also have to say a huge thanks to Blake for including the Recorder in his virtual gallery. My Recorder modification isn't great but maybe if I'm nice to him he'll use it on his gallery...?

So, are we due a Spidey announcement today or what? Still a few interesting Spider-Man-related characters to do. My educated guess is Jackal - although I'd prefer Tarantula. Mind you, you could really make me happy, Dan, and just announce the Recorder as a future figurine! :)

I like many of characters mentioned (Shaman, Hammerhead, Baron Strucker, Howard, Deathbird, Dragon Man, etc) but please don't forget some of my favorite such as Baron Blood, Belasco, Clea or the Brood.

And when could we see new Magik pics?

If I could pick the final 8 they would be:

DEATHBIRD
GAMORA
HAMMERHEAD
HIGH EVOLUTIONARY
SHAMAN
SPIDER-MAN 2099
TRAPSTER
WEREWOLF BY NIGHT

John said...

Moonstar, replace WWBN and Deathbird with Brother Voodoo and Rocket Raccoon, and I'm fully with that list ;)

If it's gonna be Spidey related .I hope fer Hammerhead, I was won round by a videogame (Robert and MGF looking non plussed)
The great John Dimaggio did a grat job voicing him...He also voices Marcus Fenix...from Gears of War (Robert and MGF looking heavily creased in the forehead)
He als voiced the fantabulous Bender from Futurama.
Like most molls i am a sucker for a gangster in a sharp suit.
He would look sweet if he was tooled up with a Chicago typewriter.

Robert said...

"Gears of War", my speculations.
1. Refers to a robot war.
2. "Gears" is the name of a planet or city that is the location of a battlefield.
3. "Gears" is either the real surname of a combatant or his/ her nickname, possibly given due to engineering experise with robots or because the person in question is an android.
Is that close, Ted? I really don't know the answer.

Miguel Angel Jiminez said...

Erm? i'm not entirely sure Robert, i assumed Gears was another term for soldiers, Anywho it is an extremely succesful Game franchise.
Oh and Robert just got an update from "Romitaman" he has some lovely pages of original art from The Mighty Thor. Lovely Buscema,Pollard and Marcos pages, all mid 70's and all damn reasonably priced. Window shopping is free though ;)

Robert said...

Oh, it's a metaphor! Ah, hadn't thought about that at all. Now I get it!

Also had a look at the Romitaman site. Incredible stuff. Sal B, Andru (including MTU #1!), Bob Brown, Perez and a measly $19,000 for a Kirby original! Gobsmacking stuff. And as for Pollard, always loved his work. Great artist.

Lewey: -

If I get a crap figure it ends up on the shelf of shame.

If I get a figure that has a paint flaw - I retouch it.

Personally I think uncle Vlad's toupee looks fine the way it is.

Since I have my hair cropped extremely short I have little time for hair-dressers or pseudo hair-dressers.

Regarding boobs: -
The Shi Devil agrees with me regarding women in the collection.
She likes to see figurines of strong women in the CMFC who actually look like women.

To me women are like works of art,
strong women in particular.
Curves and boobs are aesthetically pleasing, therefore I want to see them on my figurines.
(If you are in any doubt check out Volstagg).

There are many awesome girlies in the Marvel Universe that would make superb figures - so bring them on.
I would be happy if the CMFC achieved a 50/50 male female balance in the collection.

Deadpool said...

Hello Robert... just to tip you off .... SV has been fretting in your absence.

My choice for this week is: -

Horror - Werewolf by night
Boobs - Satana Hellstrom

Robert said...

Hi, Deadpool. Not really surprised that SV would inquire after any regulars who've gone quiet as he's a decent, caring bloke. Thing is, DP, you remind me of a guy I was at school with, constantly going on about women's bits and what he did to those bits in various locations, and all the while he aspired to a career in musical theatre...
