Too hot to handle...

Welcome back after a slight break last week, my apologies for the lack of update.

First I just wanted to address some of the comments about the Wasp.

We chose the haircut shown from the beginning of the recent Mighty Avengers comics. We decided to go with this hairstyle for two reasons: First, we looked at the shorter ‘rough’ cut hairstyle that Jan had prior to our one and it wasn’t working very well in production. The hair would have made the figure look very tomboy and had a lot more potential to go horribly wrong in final production. Second, we thought the one we choose was unique and really separated Jan from all the other female characters.

As far as the wings go, we’re only looking into the possibility of adding clear polyresin wings (not cheap plastic) to see if we can make the wings thin and insect-like. The polyresin substance has the potential to look good and be a little stronger than thin lead. I’ve yet to get samples in but I’ll pop some pics comparing the two on here when we do.

On to this week’s sneak peek. I give you Pyro at an early stage in his development.

Have a good weekend.

Nice pose for Pyro. Glad to see you are adding flames coming out of his hands slightly. Can't wait to see him in all his red and orange glory.

Definately understand about the wasp haircut deal. I personally like the one she has at the moment. As for the wings I will support the version that looks the best whether it be plastic or lead.

Great work on both figures.

Richard ,You don't have to apologize for just a little week without news ...lol
About the Wasp , we'll see the difference if You share with us some pics of the polyresin's one ;)
Pyro is nice and not ''static '' , excellent !
Here in France , we have lot of pbls with the special issues : still no Kingpin.....the french distibutor for Eaglemoss isn't really efficient ! I know it's not your fault but the french customers are really angry about that , too bad....
Anyway , have a good week and next time , maybe some news about a big canadian furball;)

Pyro looks like he is to be one of the best figurines so far. He looks really good at this stage can't wait to see him complete.

I too understand the conundrum of wasp's wings but i think the ones pictured look great. Also the hair style is of no bother to me either.

Finally any chance of letting us know if Northstar/Aurora will be a double-pack because you dropped a hint a few weeks ago and have left us hanging. I really hope they make an apperance :)

Looking forward to both Wasp and Pyro. Wasp is a great sculpt, and will plastic wings would look cool, I dont mind if they are lead and painted.

The only thing I dont like about the Pyro sculpt is the legs and the positioning of the heel. I would prefer him standing straight or knees slightly bent, but this just looks rather awkward.

Keep up the good work though guys.

Pyro looks great! Really like that pose and can't wait to see it painted!

Just need Blob and Avalanche to complete the Brotherhood line-up now ;)

Nice to see you've been located Richard - you scrub up nicely.
I am so glad I sent the search party out to find you.

Nice sneek preview of Pyro; he has mood and movement just like the DC (BOO HISSSSSSS)figurines.

Poly resin is a great choice for Wasps wing's, please go for 4 wings rather than 2 to give the illusion of movement.
Having viewed the figure for two weeks now I think she looks great.

I hope this update awakens the AWOL bloggers from their slumber.
I am keen to hear what Thor8, Ted and his social partner Robert have to say.
Also if PA has a comment too I am sure that it will be a gem or even a dubloooon.

SinisterVenom said...

YESSSS! Finally the sneak peak of Pyro and I must say, it's looking really awesome! Can't wait to see it in colour. With Blob on the way, I just hope you decide to put Avalanche in the next extension...(go on, you know you want to really ;D).
Personally I'd still prefer Wasp with lead wings but I'll wait until I see what the plastic looks like first, I just think it would be weird for her to get a different material and other figs not to, like Invisible Woman for example, before I saw her figurine the first time I expected her to be like half transparent or something.
I guess I can get used to the hair, it doesn't look as bad now a couple of weeks have gone, she's good the way she is in my opinion.

If you want to put another X-villain int he next extension make it Deathbird or Exodus. Both are amazing looking characters and would break away from the Brotherhood guys we have had quite a lot of recently.

Thor8 said...

Great news about the Wasp wings, will be looking foward to future pics with both types of wings so we can make comparrisons.

foxchilde said...

Pyro looks amazing, thanks for the Preview :-) Its a good pose, very 'action' geared which is what you would hope for this character.

Please say you have SEBASTIAN SHAW & SELENE in mind for possible future X-Villains. - Both would look great, have very different outfits to previous figures and are key characters for the X-area of this collection :-)

Also, cheers for the update on wasp.. I suppose its all very well for us to ask about the hairstyle, but sometimes 'short hair' may not suit the character in the sculpting medium. Thanks!

jimbob said...

Pyro looks promising.

And please more x-villains!!!!!!!

Avalanche
Exodus
Mastermind
Deathbird
Black Tom Cassidy
Onslaught
Mojo
Omega Red

X-Men are still outnumbering the X-Villains in this collection.

SinisterVenom said...

Jimbob I could not agree with you more. I know some of us are getting tired of X-themed characters but let's face it...there are loads of popular characters still to be done, in particular Sauron, Omega Red, Avalanche etc. Of course the one I'm waiting for is still Onslaught.
Don't get me wrong I want other themed characters too, I'm just saying I'm happy if they continue with X-themed characters.

Anonymous said...

Pyro looks great.

Hopefully we'll get Avalanche and Arachne soon. So we can fill out the major players in Mystique's Freedom Force. Now if only we had Mystique in her white costume.

And yes, more X-Men all around. So many major ones left to do. So bring them on.

Thor8 said...

Had to step out so my last comment was a brief one. I believe that making the Wasp's wings out of poly resin is best if done correctly due to the fact that they would give them a more realistic and natural look, plus they have a much higher probability of surviving intact after handling by the different shipping and distributing agencies. It's too bad Susan Storm is already in this collection, because if the wings are a success it would have been great to have had an Invisible Woman figurine partially made in this material to give the effect as if she's partially invisible,oh well!

CRB Beast: If you get your hands on an extra Blink figurine,it only takes some repainting and minor alterations and you'll have your Mystique figurine with the white costume.

I'd also like to see some more X-foes along with some classic Iron Man-Thor-Namor-Hulk-Spidey and Avengers foes as well!

jimbob said...

I hope Pyro wont be too big.

He is only 5'10"

Gremlin said...

Hell knows I love my XMen so just give me Deathbird next extension and I will be a happy man.
As for the other areas of the MU for villains...hmmmm. these guys seem like must haves...

Tigershark
Hydroman
Count Nefaria
Baron Mordo
Wizard
Constrictor
Beetle
Owl

There are of course many others kicking around but these guys seem like prime candidate at this point.

I have recently re-discovered my love for the cosmic side of the MU aswell with the Guardians of the Galaxy. I have to say we NEED Gamora and Vance Astro in the next extension.

Wow, been a little quiet today! Has Robert, Mad Thinker and Pirate Adam decided to take the weekend off? lol

Richard, as a French collector, figurines Marvel that I can send you this message.

Many of us in France (especially on this site: http://www.bdgest.com/forum/figurines-marvel-3eme-topic-t17295-5580.html) waiting impatiently for the Occasional No. 12: Kingpin who would have appeared between the figurines No. 101: War Machine and 102: Hobgoblin.

We are now at the figurine No. 105: Doc Samson and still no Kingpin !

This series should not he appear in France soon ?

Does not this series is out of stock ?

Some even say that the series does not come out more in booth!

In all cases in France. And it must be ordered directly on the site in French MaCollection.fr image of Occasional Collection DC Comics !

Should we believe such a rumor ?

Some spoke of stopping the collection if the series does not appear on newsstands or more if the leaflets appear more French!

In any case we have not heard anything specific about what is ...

Therefore, I address this message to ask you if you can tell us a little more.

For this collection is a success! Personally (and I'm not the only one!)

I really want to continue to the end, not all series, and with fascicles in French !

Thank you for your attention, thank you kindly reply.

Long life to the collection !

hello. Little off topic! I am French and am subscribed to your series "Marvel Super Heroes." I have all the numbers including the "Specials" and "Mega specials. And I have a question about the "special" and "mega special": they will still be distributed officially in France for Kingpin which it was announced there's a month is still not released. Pending a response from you please aggree my most sincere greetings.

PS: Sorry for my English. LOL

Gremlin said...

Wow, quiet weekend on here. Hmmmm, lets kick-start the convo.

What does everyone want or think the next mega special to be?

Personally I want a Mojo figure. He isn't tall but he sure is bulky and would require the mega special amount of lead. The likelihood of getting him anytime soon though is slim because we have quite a few x-people already planned.

So I think we might actually see MODOK next. Again he is another difficult character to make and would require a mega special tag I think. He can be done though given EM's mock-up of one a while back. Plus an Avenger villain would break up the xmen crew.

Another prime candidate would be a Celestial. I don't know which one but one could be picked as a representative of the group and then a magazine done about the group in general.

A wild card could be Ego the Living Planet. He would be quite an interesting one given his size and shape. I guess he would be somewhat hollow on the inside allowing for a bigger sculpt. Maybe after #200 we will see him.

Other notable mentions go to the Ymir and the Frost Giants (sounds like some kind of band), Shuma-Gorath and many of the concept-like eltities like Eternity and what not.

SinisterVenom said...

Nice choices there Gremlin, I wouldn't mind Mojo or MODOK.
As many of people on here may know I'm crossing my fingers for an Onslaught mega special. He would make an amazing figurine and is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe, so powerful it took so many heroes to fight him and he still managed to 'kill' a lot of them too, like the Fantastic Four, Dr Doom, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and a few others.
He is definately on my most wanted list.

Anonymous said...

Meh. Onslaught. 90's awfulness personified.

And he really doesn't need a mega special. He's a size changer as well. Just a normal Special would be fine. Especially if they do him in the first armor.

Looking forward to hopefully adding Mojo and Modok to the collection at some point though. Of course, we still need Longshot to go with Mojo as well.

pirate adam said...

like where your going thinking of Ymir for a mega special Gremlin, but personally i would prefer Surtur or Living Tribunal.

PA

Deadpool said...

And so the underpants gnomes speaketh.

I seem to remember in the not so distant past suggesting Modok as a special.

But nooooo he was deemed to be humptyesque... not worthy of a slot.

How come he is now in vogue, hmmmmmmmm???

As for worthy additions to this X-men engorged, populist swag bag... we have : -

Belasco
Witchfire
Magik (Armour bound with sword)

and with no further ado .....

DARKCHYLDE.

You wanted suggestions...
Now you have them....

You barely have time to wring out your Mr Hankey, nor time to dry your salty tears.

The Moss Men have listenened and found you all wanting.

The time is now ... the time is DEADPOOL ..... hahahhhahah heheh urk choke grrrr heh ha hooooo

Deadpool said...

I am apalled to find that our amphibian cousins are not being supplied with all the specials.

How on earth are they supposed to be kept as hoppy subscribers.

Tut Tut Moss Men.

Not even Batroc the slipper or the slimy Toad will do.

Gremlin said...

I really hope Magik is included in the next extension. I would want a sculpt with her classic yellow and black New Mutant uniform but with one arm and part of her chest covered in the silver armour and holding the Soulsword.

MODOK has always been considered for specials but right from the word go EM said he would be troublesome to sculpt because of his shape and the fact he hovers on that chair of his. He was put on the back-burner and kind of forgotten about but now we are further in the collection I think he can be dusted off. Bowen did a good sculpt of his with flames coming out of his hover-thingy, the flames acted as a base, it worked quite well.

Anonymous said...

i too would like to show my support for the hovering humpty dumpty dude - modok.
there is a photo on google images showing a sculpt of him with jet boosters firing from below and a cloud of smoke and flames , this could be done by eaglemoss to give the effect of him flying / hovering.
because simply sticking him on a base would not work , nor look right.

Anonymous said...

p.s :

if magik is done , and i hope she is , can we get the mini skirt version please , not too keen on the horns and sword.

Gremlin said...

Sadly the minishirt version was only ever seen on the cover to the Mystic Arcana issue she was in. As far as I (and sources from another site) are aware she has never worn it in any comic itself. Its a shame because its a snazzy look. Her standard uniform is the all-in-one yellow and black Xmen one.

jarvis69 said...

Thanks for your support Deadpool ! lol
One of the amphibian cousin

sergiogf said...

My vote for MAGIK too, please (half armor included).

Illyana would be an amazing addition to the CMFC¡

(Sauron, Avalanche, Sasquatch and Forge too, by the way)

Anonymous said...

We still need Sage and Longshot as well.

Two of the biggest omissions, IMHO.

Though I can think of about 10 X-Characters I'd like to see off the top of my head. In fact, for S&Gs. Though I'm sure there are easily a ton more.

1. Sage
2. Dark Beast
3. Avalanche
4. Longshot
5. Forge
6. Magik
7. Xorn
8. Thunderbird/Warpath
9. Goblin Queen
10. Exodus

And of course...

Mojo and Shadow King (Astral) for Specials.

Thor8 said...

This has got to be one of the shortest updates in the history of this blog that I've seen in a long time. You'd think that with all the clamoring that the X-fans have been doing for a sneak peak of Pyro and the addition of his pal Avalanche, there would be a torrent of comments flooding this site, but no dice. Only 15 blogers have sent in comments, many of them very brief and others with no mention of the human flamethrower whatsoever. Where is everybody anyway?

On your explanation of how you came to pick the Wasp's hairdo I'd just like to say that maybe if you keep the style ,but shotten it just a wee bit it will look more like the hairdo used in the commic books.

Gremlin said...

Yeah it has been strangely quiet this week although saying that if you look at previous weeks it tends to be the same person posting rather confusing posts again and again ;).

I know I said this before but I really do like Pyro. Great pose and nice detail, it would be nice to see his back to see how they sculpted his flamethrower tanks. Can't wait to see the painted version and how effective the flames themselves look.

If you want a post with lots of comments then get a picture of XMan up. I am sure there are one or two people with an opinion of him :).
Also Cloak and Dagger would be nice to see with the changes made.

Thor8 said...

You're right about multiple posting by the same person gremlin, and another point is that the themes for many of the comments posted here lately seemed to drift away from the topic of this blog which is the figurines in this collection and the characters featured or hoping to be featured in it.

Hope we get a new update this Friday with some sneek peaks and info of future additions!

max_0888 said...

Just wanted to say that Pyro looks great. He's not a character I adore. Him and Sunfire never seemed to grow on me as a character but I will of course buy them and both sculpt looks really good. I understand why Pyro is so popular, and I do feel that adding Avalanche in the mix to complete Mystique's brotherhood will be great, but as a character, Pyro and Avalanche, doesn't seem to have that much history. Exodus, Sebastian Shaw, Mojo, Sauron, Deathbird and Callisto have, imo, a lot more background and impact on the x-universe. I just hope the collection will get far enough so we can get every characters we want.

I already feel so lucky to have Siryn in the collection.

And having Pyro's flame included is a great addition imo. It iwll make his fig stand out even more :)

I also have a suggestion, when and if the collection gets a 161-180 extansion. I hope we will get one character confirmed every week from the blog for 20 weeks. It will make us talk more and enjoy more each and every new lead confirmed. So, what do you guys think? I really enjoy us talking about each new confirmed character, like when Radioactive man, than Ares got in. Instead of having a bunch of character in the same day. We didn't talk as much about Cannonball, Balder, Scarlet Spider, Songbird, Wrecker, Firestar and Quasar when they were all confirmed on the same day.

SinisterVenom said...

I agree with you Gremlin and Thor8, the theme does keep on changing and usually by the same guys.
But then again that is what keeps the update pages look so busy. Why, had Gremlin not started the discussion on mega specials, this page would look even shorter! As our God of Thunder pointed out, this blog should be kept based on the figurines in the collection and future characters.
And seriously, what happened to the likes of Robert and Mad Thinker? It's like they packed up and left home...

Anonymous said...

maybe if the update was more exciting we'd post comments , i agree with you guys , hope we get a better one on friday.

Thor8 said...

Max_0888; I for one agree with you that it would be better if the approved characters for the next extension are presented to us one by one for the reasons you have already stated. I'd also like EM to pick out most of the chosen themselves just as they did on #s 141-160,but maybe this time instead of just one winner for the "pick your own figurine" competition (if they decide to do it again that is) maybe we could have two winners or maybe even three. What do you say Rich?

Gremlin said...

The competition was great in the sense we got in a character who probably wouldn't have made it before #200 (stop snearing you non'x fans :) ). Having another one would be awesome.

I am personally hoping for a few more cosmics next time aswell as some of the Avengers like Photon and Mockingbird.

mighty_marvel said...

pyro's already looking good. can't wait to see him in all his painted glory.

there's not many mega sized characters i'm too fussed about now. wouldn't mind mojo eventually but don't see the point of putting a mega special in just to have a mega special. there's loads of better regular specials and (fingers crossed) double packs that should appear first.

hope the competition does run again. especially so if i manage to actually win something for a change!

Anonymous said...

Agreed about needing more cosmic characters.

I'd like to see the following before the collection wraps up.

Rocket Raccoon
Star Lord
Phylla-Vell
Gamora
Mantis
Major Victory
Bug

Blastaar (Special)
Groot (Special)

Anonymous said...

lookin' good so far! i really love the way they are being more dynamic - just got my shang-chi figurine and boy he looks awesome!
not that i hate the x-men but haven't the more prominent and important ones been covered? the only x-villains i d really give any importance to (apart from those covered) are Vulcan, Deathbird, Exodus, Sebastian Shaw and Selene. I think they are really the only ones left that are really of any importance.
Rich dude i still insist on the next extension that more different heroes' rogues'galleries to be included. I mean come on we barely had any Black Panther Villain (having only Klaw in the set); what happened to Man-Ape, Grey Wolf and Killmonger? What about Ghost Rider's? Vengeance, Orb, Doghead or Blackout anyone? Or more of Captain America's for that matter: Hatemonger, Flagsmasher, Heinrich Zemo, Faustus, Arnim Zola...and the completion of established teams (Inhumans, Alpha Flight, Thunderbolts...)
about wasp's wings...sure plastic would look more realistic. It's a beautiful sculpt btw...not so keen about the hair cos it looks like a curtain but never mind...but is the inclusion of PLASTIC wings practical? i mean sure it looks more materialistic but it increases the chances of it getting damaged en route. but that depends on the type of plastic I guess.
again...thanks rich for giving us the much-awaited WOW factor in the figurines :)

Anonymous said...

"not that i hate the x-men but haven't the more prominent and important ones been covered?"

No. There's still quite a few fairly prominent ones left to go.

Sage
Forge
Thunderbird/Warpath
Magik
Northstar
Sunspot
Wolfsbane
Mirage
Magma
Longshot
Cypher and Warlock (2-Pack)

And that's off the top of my head.

"the only x-villains i d really give any importance to (apart from those covered) are Vulcan, Deathbird, Exodus, Sebastian Shaw and Selene."

Vulcan? The character hasn't even been around more than a few years, and isn't exactly well loved by X-Men fans. And there's way more than than those who have important roles in X-History. Other than the ones you mentioned...

Dark Beast
Avalanche
Mastermind
Holocaust
Black Tom Cassidy
Sauron
Unus the Untouchable
Vanisher
Xorn
Bastion
Emplate

The Shadow King (Astral Form)
Mojo
Nimrod

Gremlin said...

Its all about opinion this one. Who is "important". IMHO the important ones left now are Forge, Wolfsbane, Mirage and to some extent Magik. The rest are more icing on the cake.

Anonymous said...

i agree with Gremlin...however pardon my impertinence but i like dividing the x-men in groups which I actually bother about IMHO:

Original X-Men (covered)
Uncanny X-Men (Thunderbird left)
X-Factor (Monet, Richtor, Strong Guy, Layla left)
'80s-90's X-Men (including Gambit, Rogue, Cable, Bishop, Jubilee...all important ones covered except, ok, Forge)
New Mutants (all but Cannonball left)
New X-Men (Dust, Anole, Rockslide,Pixie, Surge, Hellion, Prodigy, Mercury & Gentle - only X-23 done)

All the rest - i don't consider X-Statix or Generation X as important cos they weren't as important to the X-contuity IMHO...the only Generation X members who really had potential were Jubilee and Chamber (who was unfortunately depowered...even though he was not exactly a brilliant character)- all the rest - icing on the cake as Gremlin said.at least in my opinion

LAWay said...

New idea for a 'Mega Special', what about dioramas? Like classic moments in comics, with the magazine featuring classic moments in comics. Or even in film...a movie whiplash, iron man and war machine would be awesome.

Or maybe alot of characters, like the original x-men line-up in original outfits, maybe a bunch of spidermen in all their outfits.

Maybe something that covers an area that is topical, like the dark avengers. So much has happened, especially since we saw spiderman, ironman, captain america etc. Good excuse for an update, as personally I would love a new captain america (bucky version) over some z-list marvel character.

As for a giant figure? What about giant-man? Red hulk? A character on a vehicle?

LAWay I really like your opinions :)

sorry for double posting but I don't kno how to delete mistakenly added posts :(

anyway back to LAWay - personally i think they should do a Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider on Bike (nothing beats a chopper :)). About team dioramas...doesnt the DC collection have the Centennial Park superman? why shouldnt Marvel have the statue of the original Avengers in the Avengers Mansion? maybe the magazine would describe the history of the Avengers and their diverse lineups, as well as the recent events (from Disassembled to Siege)/ other than that I don't really think it is really such a good idea though cos of resources to create it might be expensive. I still have faith in the Ghost Rider Diorama though...some interesting art to base it off would be this:http://thedesigninspiration.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/ghost-rider-by-rushredkryptonite.jpg or one by javier Saltares: http://www.comicvine.com/johnny-blaze/29-6108/all-images/108-200798/grplane2/105-761020/ or, finally, my own geeky but impossible wish: http://www.comicvine.com/johnny-blaze/29-6108/all-images/108-200798/grhof_03_09/105-986538/. ok the last one's impossible but surely the first two would do GR finally some justice. How about a 2-in-1 diorama like cloak and dagger, Yellowjacket and Wasp had? like Puck and Sasquatch? ok wasp turned out a bit...disfigured...on Yellowjacket's shoulder...but the concept was great!how about the Warriors Three?

Alpha Flight:
Northstar & Aurora
Shaman
Marina
Puck

after:
Owl
Stilt-Man
Titanium Man
Demolition Man
Karnak (to complete the Inhumans)
Tarantula (Luis Alvarez)
The Jackal
Tiger Shark

To complete the Sinister Twelve:
Boomerang
Hydro-Man
Hammerhead
Tombstone

And why not:

They are not super heroes, but these characters have a story anyway ...

In Occasional:
Mouth of gold (lacks Crystal!)
MODOK (already seen to deal with another!)
Sasquatch (preview, but not programmed)
Odin (preview, but not programmed)
Blob (preview, but not programmed)

Ok I will take the opportunity to ask Rich some questions :)

Looking at the extension we just picked are there any characters you are particularly looking forward to seeing the sculpt of?

Did the various staff members get to pick any favourites like they did last time?

So far in the collection who is your favourite sculpt?

it's looking good pirate!only two things to improve, but perhaps its cause of the perspective from we're looking at it - his neck and arms look stunted and the helmet looks a bit too big for its head. but still man i wont even dream of sculpting something so precisely detialed, especially the hands!

SinisterVenom said...

It seems to have been yet another quiet weekend on here again so I'm going to drift slightly away from the topic in a bid for everyone to voice their opinions...
Over the next set of weeks or whenever it gets quiet I will post a category that people can state what figurines they would like to see in the collection.
For example, this week:

5 most wanted X-Villains

So simply tell us what figurines you would like in this category and maybe Rich can see our opinions and take note.
I'll start it off with...

1) Avalanche
2) Silver Samurai
3) Onslaught
4) Omega Red
5) Sauron

Let's hear what you want then guys! By the end I'll sum it all up and see who the most wanted is in each category.

mighty_marvel said...

x-villains. hmmmm....

1) Sauron
2) Silver Samurai
3) Selene
4) Onslaught
5) Deathbird

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a good idea...

I think Rich should include a poll question in each update as well. Would give us more to talk about at times.

As for Top 5 Most Wanted X-Villains?

1. Dark Beast
2. Avalanche
3. Selene
4. Sauron
5. Goblin Queen

By the way, for refrence sake. Here's what the X-Villain poll results from the last major poll was.

X-Men Villains:

Some nice choices to start this off, keep them coming!

I know. I was just putting it up for refrence. BTW, before anyonce mentions Destiny's poor showing... this poll was done after Rich said they wanted to include her in the next extentions, so she didn't get many votes. ;)

I shut up for 5 minutes and you're "Hey whats going on why is everone so quiet".

Then you're "well at leeeeast we can stay on topic now that that crazy guy has shut his trap".

AAAAAAAARRRRRGH.

Darkchyde please ..... we can still have magic too.

May I also say that there has been no Robert nor his common law wife Ted this week.

Now that is wierd.

I will have Pyro in my collection even though I don't particularly like him.

X-MEN are over subscribed here ... too many X-Guys spoil the broth.

GIMME RANDOM he is far cooler than ballroom dancers like Cannon Ball.
At least he wears a bandana and is a fellow Merc.

Gimme RONIN too ......

Providence....

Who gives a @*%t about a characters providence if he looks like a box of frogs.

I want exuberant, curvaceous, buxom wenches to adorn my shelves.
As for figurines they should share many of the same characteristics but be made of lead and be hand painted.

So let's set aside our differences and agree on this point.

Not enough Marvel girlies.
Too many Xs and men.

The main exception to the rule are baddies.

Badies should be big and bold - of epic proportions and be delivered as normal specials - special specials and mega specials.

Continuing this line of thought... as a follower of Asatru ... we need a big bad version of Hel or Hela ... you know the Norse girlie who looks after Nilfhiem.

Deadpool said...

I want a special version of Thor.

Ok the original figurine captured the classic marvel look, but a more up to date Battle armour type sculpt would be cool.

At the moment we are Sif-less when will we see Baldy in all her Golden Wigged glory?

Deadpool said...

List lists lists.

The tigers are playing tonight... and I never miss a game.

Why not allocate a certain number of the extension to each category of Marvel characters.

For instance we have 20 new slots.

4 for X types
4 for Norse types
4 for Mercs and such like
4 for Avenger types
4 for Mystic / cosmic types

Ensure an even split between male and female.

Include a normal special for each of the listed types.

Include one Special Special

Include one mega special.

Can you fly bobby?

I sincerely hope so.

Deadpool said...

Good grief.

Could the competition winner have chosen a worse figurine.

We already have Banshee, so why on earth do we need another one.

OK i agree she is a girlie and fits in with my earlier suggestions on sexual equality, but there are loads more girlies that could have been chosen.

You know my choices ...

Darkchylde and Witchfire.
They beat that green stipey girly hands and horns down.

SinisterVenom said...

Interesting idea there Deadpool, I guess we can use 4 slots for original choices with a special covering the 5th place.
But remember this week covers the x-villains meaning one week the x-heroes will be put up too so that would mean 10 places in all but they are just ideas it doesn't necessarily mean they will be chosen. We post what wewant, Rich can take notes on what we want the most and hopefully we get what we want to make us happy.
And I too have noticed the disappearance of Robert and Ted, I would certainly like to hear their opinions on all the latest, as well as their little holiday details...

Deadpool said...

Where are our resident "Wild Stallions" Rob and Ted?

Maybe a Slutt has come between them and destroyed their relationship?

I will mourn their passing.

But hey.... "Don't fear .. the Reaper" is already in the collection thanks to the moss men.

No lip synch controversy here.

For once they have tuned into the right STATION.

Any hoooo .....

What's the deal with dragons in purple underpants?
The thought of it has my Friends of old Marvel foooooming.

Whatever next ... talking foul mouthed ducks...?

max_0888 said...

Hey Deadpool ;)
funny that someone called Deadpool would complain about Siryn's inclusion in the collection, since she was such a big supporting character of his. Siryn is a lot more than Banshee's daughter too (for instance, she had more appearance than him lol) And she won't be made in the same outfit as her father's. She will have the dark green from X-factor. But I know she's not everyone's favorite and wouldn't have made it in before 200 otherwise, so i'm pretty thrilled that my fave character got in :):):)

As for 5 x-villains?
1- Mojo
2- Sauron
3- Deathbird
4- Sebastian Shaw
5- Black Tom Cassidy

Mutant men and Mutant villians.
4 slots for them to pine for the fjords.

They are X-types ... the other 4 slots have ceased to be.

Modok on a flaming smoke cloudy base is a no brainer.
Make like NIKE.

And finally ....

How dare you poo poo the idea of Ghost Rider on his bike.
I'd be out of the starting blocks like a "Bat outta Hell" to order 2 of those kick ass figures!!!!
It would be the centre piece of the collection.

1 mystic/horror
1 other (eg british/runaways)

Spammy. I see Deadpool is back. :p

No thanks on the idea of Ghost Rider on Bike. The Batman on Bike was a waste of a special slot in the DC collection. Let's not go down that path with Marvel. Thankfully Eaglemoss has more control with the Marvel version. They don't have to keep finding ways of cramming Batman and Superman into the line.

If they want to do a mounted character, and not do a retread like with the Batman w/ Bike... Dani Moonstar aka Mirage in her Valkyrie role on the back of Brightwind/Darkwind would be keen. A flying horse is much cooler than a motorcycle anyway. And would make Dani stand out with the rest of the New Mutant. :)

HA!

I bring order to the chaos that is the Marvel Blog.

I make a little, teeny weeny suggestion at structure for the extension and like lemmings driven towards the edge of a cliff, they are off and running.

Pah ... lists .....

I think only a single Norse God is an insult to our ancestors.

Give them the 4 slots that they deserve.

Some good suggestions in the ... lists ... but the figurine collection is X-Type top heavy.

I have a question....

Why aren't male mutants called Y-Men and female mutants X-women???
Consider the fact that their powers are genetic mutations... does this mean that the mutation is on the X chomosome?
If so... there should be twice as many female mutants than male.

This then adds weight to the argument for more female characters in the collection.

Deadpool said...

Forge ....please not Forge....

Why on earth would we want limpy Joe in the collection?

"Hey forge what's your super duper ability?"
"Well DP I have a wooden leg and dress up at halloween as Long John Silver - I use Cannonball as my cabin boy ... but thats a slightly different story."

Substitute Forge for Box.

Nice to see Ted is back from the grave with some solid ideas.

For the extension - the Moss Men should send out a questionaire to all subscribers so they could fill in their choices for the extensions and the specials.
The extension would then be completely democratic and relevent to the wants and needs of the collectors.

Deadpool said...

Just to clarify.

Regarding BOX ... not Bochs but the Maddison Jeffries version.

Who needs limpy Joe when you can have the BOX man.

Anonymous said...

sorry Thor8 i meant Firebird. speaking of whom, where the heck is she nowadays?
i think it is a popular consensus that there are so many characters we want to be done, and so many popular marvel characters...i think EM should create a competition (or survey, whatever) for people to suggest a limited number of whom they'd like from every family as we're doing here. perhaps that d be an easier way to create the new extension

Deadpool said...

Moss Men ....

There are lots of wannabe modders here who could do with a few tips.

How about showing a step by step construction of a figurine from Mesh to Paint Job to get the guys giggling and drooling with glee.

This could be an update for the main web site.

How about selling figure blanks, body parts and accessories for the modelling and modding community to allow us to create our own versions of our favourite characters?

Hell, you could even bring out your own range of Paints too.

I would definately buy these items.
You could start by offering them to the Bloggers and then the subscribers and then the rest of the world.

I need your boots your clothes and the keys to your bike.
Do it .... do it now!!!!
I'll be back.

Deadpool said...

On the subject of figure blanks.

Figure blanks would be mail order or subscription.

Order forms could be included with the magaizines and figurines sent to subscribers.

Obviously you could sort the categories of figure blanks by gender, body shape and size.

Options could include arms, legs heads and weaponry and a selection of base styles.

Everyone should be aware by now that I want some Indy figures and Darkchylde.

Figure blanks would be a great shortcut for me as a modeller to make these a reality.

Deadpool said...

Dioramas.

No that's not an episode of a soap where the main character has a stomach bug ... its a figure arrangement that tells a story.

Stay with me guys ... I may appear to be rambling but trust me this is going somewhere.

With Figure Blanks and a variety of base size from the MOSS MEN, dioramas are well within the capability of even relativley inexperienced modellers.

Combine this with a bit milliput, some coral sand, epoxy resin and Robs your uncle / Teds your maiden aunt.... you have the basic components of a scene.

It's surprising the difference that coral sand makes even at 25mm scale, particularly when dry brushed. The texture of the finish can look very cool.

My personal preference when painting is to use a black undercoat.
Yes ... BLACK.

I then dry brush the model white to bring out all the detail ready for final painting.

The effect creates natural shadows and changes the tint of topcoat acrylic colours painted over the dry brush white / undercoat black.

What do you guys think of the proposal for the Moss Men to produce Figure Blanks?

Deadpool said...

Why on earth hasn't Random appeared on anyone's list.

With the exception of yours truly and Ronin he is the coolest merc around.

He would also make an awesome figure with his morphing appendages.

Gremlin said...

Cos he sucks

Anonymous said...

Cause Random kinda was a terrible character who doesn't even have a one hundred concrete origins story. He's little more than a stooge of various better characters who haven't made it into the collection as of yet. Chiefly, Dark Beast and Exodus. Hell, Random's only appeared in like 50 issues and doesn't even have much of a personal history or backstory.

Deadpool said...

Of course when I refer to Ronin I mean Maya Lopez - Echo .... heh.

Deadpool said...

Ok now I have your attention... what do you think of the idea for figure blanks?

Deadpool said...

Incidentally....

Adding the word DARK in front of an existing character's name doesn't make him cool.

For instance ...
Dark Green Goblin
Dark Omega Red (sounds like a brand of shampoo)
Dark Red Skull - (isnt that known as acne???)
Dark Thing (or should that be pronounced THANG ... which is actually quite cool)

Anyway.... if a character looks good shouldn't that also justify a spot in the line up?

My Vote goes to the super cool gangzta - Dark Thang.

Deadpool said...

Maybe the correct formula for a cool character is to prefix the name with king...

For instance ...

King Pin
King Thing ( or of course Thang).
King Fang Foom ( a huge improvement)
King Dom-ino ( has a nice ring to it)

Don't be afraid to try this at home ... just prefix your favourite characters with RANDOM words and see what pops out.

Basket would be a good prefix too.

My favourites so far are: -
Basket Thing (or by popular demand THANG)
and obviously ...
Basket Beast.

Anonymous said...

So you mean Echo...

Cause that's who Maya Lopez is.

Also, in this case 'Dark' seperates him from the 616 version of Beast. And he never really went by Dark Beast anyway.

Also, looking good is fine. But the character still needs enough history to fill a magazine. And not just appearances, actually history. And Random is lacking in both areas.

Deadpool said...

Hands up who used to buy What If?

Come on ... don't be shy ... that means you CBRa Beast...

Now then .. does anyone remember What the ???

Yes the send up version of What if.

How about some What the? characters.

This brings us back to characters like Man Spider, Basket Beast and of course King Thang.

What do you think?

Deadpool said...

Yep echo ... but with some of her gear on when she takes the guise of Ronin.

If you catch my drift...

Deadpool said...

C'mon Beastie boy .... are you a modeller?

What do you think of the idea of figure blanks that allow you to make your own versions of popular heroes or villians?

Anonymous said...

Figure blanks would be a foolish thing for Eaglemoss to produce. There would be a limited appeal, and if people want to customize they can simply buy one of the figurines out now that match what they want to make. Blanks make no sense in this sort of product anyway.

As for your suggestion of paints... it's already available. Eaglemoss uses Games Workshop's paints.

Anonymous said...

i find deadpool so boring , that i don't even bother to read his posts anymore cos he just gives me a huge headache !!

Gremlin said...

Yeah I have to agree that blank figures are pointless really. there are many decent figures out there that provide great bases for customs - Iceman, Captain Marvel, Spiderman, Donna Troy, Starfire, Guardian, and the Invisible Woman are all easy to add things on to.

Ted mentioned something about getting new teams in. Hopefully the next extension should complete the Inhumans with Karnak's inclusion. I would like to see Sister Grimm put in from the Runaways. I think its very unlikely we will see any other Runaways due to most of their boring looks and the fact its quite late int he game now for them. But SG is the leader and has an awesome goth-chick look plus she has the staff of one. The Runaways have made quite an impact since their creation and they are getting a film too so maybe she could be like Blink and be the rep for her team.

SinisterVenom said...

Both of those bloggers brought this blog to life and encouraged the flow of ideas and subsequent discussion.

I sincerely hope they both return.

Shame on you people for driving them away.

I know I never say much but this needed to be said.

As for the collection.

I am a casual collector and I obviously want to see more Norse Gods included.

I too create my own models and would like some bare figures as the basis for new dioramas, particularly if the blank metal figures are relatively cheap.

That is all I have to say on this subject.

Richy, Rich it's been fun.... keep up the good work.

I must go now ... never to return.

lol, no need to be so dramatic, Deadpool, you can feel free to post as much as you want of course (just do it in one post instead of five in a row ;) )
And btw, you've got a point there, let's focus on other discussion, than lists.
So for pose, what do you guys think about Cannonball? Should he be firing up like a rocket (could look a bit like the sandman sculpt) It could add something nice to him.

Anonymous said...

Max_088....I couldnt agree more to EVERYTHING you said. Deadpool man there s no need to take things so personal. I m sure most of them got tired of reading MY posts cos they are complaints about poses (even if i do them so EM would improve on later figurines - which i say that they are doing a fine job of :)) everyone has a right to comment. if ppl dont like reading your comments, skip em. only try to be concise in your comments and not 5 in a row (and that's coming from the noob who sometimes double posts....lol) I agree with most you've said except the blanks. wouldn't they take up the slots for other more important ones? just a thought really. care to be more specific if they're sold separately? that would make more sense if they're sold in some hobby workshop.

anyway...send the haters flying DP. you're as welcome here as any of us unless the admins would ban you, which i strongly doubt they would since you didnt write anything offensive, homie
